20 Year Droughts

NASA Study Finds 1934 Had Worst Drought of Last Thousand Years

A new study using a reconstruction of North American drought history over the last
1,000 years found that the drought of 1934 was the driest and most widespread of the
last millennium.
Using a tree-ring-based drought record from the years 1000 to 2005 and modern records, scientists from NASA and Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory found the 1934 drought was 30 percent more severe than the runner-up drought (in 1580) and extended across 71.6 % of western North America. For comparison, the average extent of the 2012 drought was 59.7 percent.

“It was the worst by a large margin, falling pretty far outside the normal range of variability that we see in the record,” said climate scientist Ben Cook at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York. Cook is lead author of the study, which will publish in the Oct. 17 edition of Geophysical Research Letters.
Two sets of conditions led to the severity and extent of the 1934 drought. First, a high-pressure system in winter sat over the west coast of the United States and turned away
wet weather – a pattern similar to that which occurred in the winter of 2013-14.
Second, the spring of 1934 saw dust storms, caused by poor land management practices, suppress rainfall.

“In combination then, these two different phenomena managed to bring almost the
entire nation into a drought at that time,” said co-author Richard Seager, professor at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University in New York. “The fact that it was the worst of the millennium was probably in part because of the human role.”

According to the recent Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, climate change is likely to make droughts in North America worse, and the southwest in particular is expected to become significantly drier as are summers in the central plains. Looking back one thousand years in time is one way
to get a handle on the natural variability of droughts so that scientists can tease out anthropogenic effects – such as the dust storms of 1934.
“We want to understand droughts of the past to understand to what extent climate
change might make it more or less likely that those events occur in the future,” Cook said.
The abnormal high-pressure system is one lesson from the past that informs scientists’ understanding of the current severe drought in California and the western United States.

“What you saw during this last winter and during 1934, because of this high pressure in the atmosphere, is that all the wintertime storms that would normally come into places like California instead got steered much, much farther north,” Cook said. “It’s these wintertime storms that provide most of the moisture in California. So, without getting
that rainfall it led to a pretty severe drought.”
This type of high-pressure system is part of normal variation in the atmosphere, and whether or not it will appear in a given year is difficult to predict in computer models of the climate. Models are more attuned to droughts caused by La Niña’s colder sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, which likely triggered the multi-year Dust Bowl drought throughout the 1930s. In a normal La Niña year, the Pacific Northwest receives more rain than usual, and the southwestern states typically dry out.

But a comparison of weather data to models looking at La Niña effects showed that the rain-blocking high-pressure system in the winter of 1933-34 overrode the effects of La Niña for the western states. This dried out areas from northern California to the Rockies that otherwise might have been wetter.
As winter ended, the high-pressure system shifted eastward, interfering with spring and summer rains that typically fall on the central plains. The dry conditions were exacerbated and spread even farther east by dust storms.
“We found that a lot of the drying that occurred in the springtime occurred downwind from where the dust storms originated,” Cook said, “suggesting that it’s actually the dust in the atmosphere that’s driving at least some of the drying in the spring and really allowing this drought event to spread upwards into the central plains.”

Dust clouds reflect sunlight and block solar energy from reaching the surface.
That prevents evaporation that would otherwise help form rain clouds, meaning
that the presence of the dust clouds themselves leads to less rain, Cook said.
“Previous work and this work offer some evidence that you need this dust feedback
to explain the real anomalous nature of the Dust Bowl drought in 1934,” Cook said.
Dust storms like the ones in the 1930s aren’t a problem in North America today.
The agricultural practices that gave rise to the Dust Bowl were replaced by those that minimize erosion.
Still, agricultural producers need to pay attention to the changing climate and adapt accordingly, not forgetting the lessons of the past, said Seager. “The risk of severe mid-continental droughts is expected to go up over time, not down,” he said.

Abstract
During the summer of 1934, over 70% of western North America experienced extreme drought, placing this summer far outside the normal range of drought variability and making 1934 the single worst drought year of the last millennium. Strong atmospheric ridging along the West Coast suppressed cold season precipitation across the Northwest, Southwest, and California, a circulation pattern similar to the winters of 1976–1977 and 2013–2014. In the spring and summer, the drying spread to the Midwest and Central Plains, driven by severe precipitation deficits downwind from regions of major dust storm activity, consistent with previous work linking drying during the Dust Bowl to anthropogenic dust aerosol forcing. Despite a moderate La Niña, contributions from sea surface temperature forcing were small, suggesting that the anomalous 1934 drought was primarily a consequence of atmospheric variability, possibly amplified by dust forcing that intensified and spread the drought across nearly all of western North America.

Key Points
The 1934 drought was the most widespread and severe event of the last millennium.
Atmospheric variability caused winter drying; dust intensified drying in spring.
Despite a strong La Niña, SST forcing played only a small role.

1 Introduction
The Dust Bowl drought of the 1930s was one of the worst environmental disasters
in United States history, causing widespread crop failures, land degradation, human migration, and a permanent transformation in the social, economic, and agricultural structure of the Great Plains [Hansen and Libecap2004Worster1979Seager et al.2008].
The inception of this event is linked to sea surface temperature (SST) variations in the tropical Pacific [Schubert et al.2004a2004bSeager et al.2008], while the intensity and atypical spatial pattern of the drought is attributed to random atmospheric variability [Hoerling et al.2009] and/or dust aerosol and land surface feedbacks:
[Cook et al.20082009; Schubert et al.2004a]. Even by the standards set by the multiple years of the Dust Bowl drought, however, the summer of 1934 stands out as exceptionally severe.

While the term “Dust Bowl” was not coined until the following year, 1934 directly set the stage for 1935 and the subsequent years that would be characterized by extensive drought, widespread dust storms (including the Black Sunday storm of 14 April 1935), and the formation of the Soil Conservation Service [Worster1979]. The drying that fed the 1934 drought began the previous fall [Murphy1935], with major precipitation deficits in California, the Northwest, the Southwest, and across the Southern Plains.

By the spring of 1934, the drying shifted to the Central Plains and Midwest.
Importantly, these precipitation deficits occurred during the primary seasons of moisture supply for the various regions (i.e., winter and early spring in California and the West and spring over the Central Plains and Midwest), ensuring little likelihood of relief with the onset of summer. Accompanying the precipitation anomalies were five major dust storms originating in the Central Plains from November 1933 to May 1934 [Mattice1935], caused in part by anthropogenic land use practices [Hansen and Libecap2004McLeman et al.2014].

Three of these events occurred in April 1934 from 9–12, 18–20, and 21–24, which collectively spread dust as far east as North Carolina and Florida, while the largest dust storm on 9–12 May spread dust across most of the United States east of the Central Plains [Mattice1935]. By the end of 1934, it was estimated also that 65% of the total area of the Great Plains had been damaged by wind erosion, with 15% severely affected [Hansen and Libecap2004].

Beyond the dust storms and wind erosion, the drought had severe impacts on agriculture and water resources, as documented in a report issued by the federal government the following year [Murphy1935]. Through the summer of 1934, conditions for pasture, corn, and tame hay (hay cut from cultivated grasses) were considered extremely poor over most of western North America (WNA), from Texas and New Mexico and up through Montana and the Dakotas. Reservoir levels were low across WNA, averaging ∼55% of capacity in Nevada, ∼40% in California, ∼22% in New Mexico, ∼18% in Idaho, and ∼13% in Colorado and Wyoming.

By the end of the summer of 1934, over 1100 counties had received an emergency drought designation. Ultimately, the effects of the drought were so severe that in June 1934, President Roosevelt requested <DOLLAR/>525 million in drought relief from Congress, over half (<DOLLAR/>275 million) of which was intended to relieve the livestock industry by means of providing emergency feed, buying starving animals from farmers, and slaughtering excess herds for food relief [Worster1979].

Previous studies have analyzed SST and land surface forcing during the persistent, multiyear Dust Bowl drought [Cook et al.20082009Hoerling et al.2009
Schubert et al.2004a2004bSeager et al.2008], but no study to date has conducted a comprehensive analysis specifically for the exceptional drought year of 1934.

Moreover, while regional drought variability in North America is understood reasonably well [e.g., Schubert et al.20082009Seager et al.2005aSeager and Hoerling2014], we know much less about the dynamics underlying multiregion, pancontinental drought events [Cook et al.2014] like 1934; events that, because of their extent, often have much larger social impacts [e.g., Hoerling et al.2014]. Here we analyze the summer drought of 1934 by investigating the seasonal evolution of the underlying climate anomalies, placing this drought within the context of the paleoclimate record, and drawing lessons regarding what might be learned to better understand the severity and occurrence of current and future pancontinental droughts.

2 Materials and Methods
Our analysis is focused on the climate anomalies (temperature and precipitation) and dynamics during the “water year” (October 1933 to September 1934) leading up to and during the summer drought of 1934. The main seasons of moisture supply are different across the various regions of WNA: for example, most precipitation falls in winter in the Southwest and along the West Coast, while spring and summer dominate the Central Plains. It is therefore likely that the drought in each region of WNA will have a different meteorological and dynamical explanation, and thus, a consideration of the climate anomalies across the entire water year is required.

An updated version of the North American Drought Atlas (NADA) is used to characterize the 1934 drought and place this event within the context of North American drought variability over the last millennium [Cook et al.20042010]. The NADA is a tree ring-based gridded reconstruction (0.5° lat/lon) of summer season (June-July-August; JJA) Thornthwaite-Based Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI). PDSI is a normalized index
of drought, integrating changes in moisture supply (precipitation) and demand (evapotranspiration) with a memory timescale of about 12–18 months (meaning that summer season PDSI will depend, at least partially, on climate anomalies in prior months and seasons). Negative PDSI values indicate drier than average conditions; positive values indicate wetter than average conditions. In the NADA, all anomalies are relative to the average baseline for 1931–1990, and we use data from the NADA spanning 1000–2005 Common Era (C.E.).

We calculate temperature and precipitation anomalies from the latest version (3.21) of
the climate grids provided by the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia [Harris et al.2014]. The CRU climate grids are monthly average fields of climate variables that are interpolated from station observations to a uniform 0.5° lat/lon grid, with temporal coverage spanning the entire twentieth century (1901–2012). SST anomalies are taken from the HadISST data set [Rayner et al.2003] (1870 to present). We use 500 hPa geopotential heights from version 2 of the Twentieth Century Reanalysis (1871–2012) to investigate the dynamics [Compo et al.2011]. For a comparison with the winter of 2013–2014, we also use dynamical fields from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction-National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCEP-NCAR) reanalysis [Kalnay et al.1996] (1948 to present).
To make things consistent with the base period in the NADA, all anomalies are calculated relative to the mean climatology for 1931–1990, except for the NCEP-NCAR reanalysis, which uses a baseline of 1948–1990.

3 Results
3.1 The Drought
Drought during the summer of 1934, as reflected in the PDSI anomalies, was intense and widespread across much of North America (Figure 1), extending from the West Coast to the Great Lakes and from Texas to Montana. The tree ring based PDSI estimates in the NADA (Figure 1, left) are largely corroborated by PDSI values independently calculated from the CRU climate grids (Figure 1, right).
Area-averaged NADA PDSI for western North America (WNA: 125°W–85°W, 30°N–49°N) in 1934 was −4.11, the single most intense drought year of the last millennium (Figure 2, top). This magnitude of drought in WNA was a departure of over 3.5 standard deviations from the long-term mean (1000–2005 C.E.) and exceeded the magnitude of the second most intense drought year in WNA (1580, PDSI = −3.19) by almost 30%.

For western North America (125°W–85°W, 30°–49°), (top) area-averaged PDSI and (bottom) percent area with PDSI anomalies less than or equal to −3, indicating extreme drought.
In addition to being exceptionally intense, 1934 was also an outlier in terms of drought extent, with extreme drought (PDSI ≤−3) covering 71.6% of WNA, the most extensive summer of extreme drought by a broad margin (Figure 2, bottom). By comparison, the second most extensive extreme drought year was 1956, when 49.3% of WNA was affected. The NADA ends in 2005 and therefore cannot be used to compare 1934 to more recent extreme drought years, such as 2011 and 2012. The National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) nevertheless tracks the percent area of the United States in “moderately to extremely dry” conditions over the instrumental period (1895 to present; see Acknowledgements for data URL).
According to this metric, drought extent was above 70% for May through September 1934, averaging 77.2% in JJA. By comparison, the average for JJA of 2012 was only 59.7%, with a maximum extent in July of 61.8%. The average extent in JJA of 2011 was even lower at only 28.9%, indicating that 2011, while extreme, was highly localized (predominantly in the Southwest and Southern Plains) [Seager et al.2014]. These results confirm the NADA analysis, further supporting our observation that 1934 was the worst single year of drought in WNA of the last 1000 years.

3.2 La Niña Forcing
Cold SST anomalies in the eastern tropical Pacific developed in the fall of 1933
(Figure S1), a transition to La Niña conditions typically associated with suppressed precipitation across the Southwest and Southern Plains [Ropelewski and Halpert1987Seager et al.2005b2014]. During October–December (OND) the NINO 3.4 index anomaly was −0.98 K, weakening slightly to −0.85K during January–March (JFM) in 1934. Despite the moderately strong
La Niña, circulation over North America during OND (Figure S2) and JFM (Figure S3) diverged substantially from the canonical La Niña response.
During a typical La Niña, a broad, zonally oriented band of high pressure extends across the Southwest and Southern Plains [Seager et al.20102014Trenberth et al.1998]. Circulation during the fall and winter of 1933–1934, however, was characterized by an upper-level ridge centered over the West Coast and an accompanying trough over the Northeast (Figure 3). This suggests that despite its strength, the 1933–1934 La Niña event was a relatively minor contributor to the precipitation deficits preceding the 1934 drought, even though persistent La Niña forcing was likely important to establishing the Dust Bowl as a long-term, multiyear event [e.g., Schubert et al.2004aSeager et al.2008].

(Left column) Precipitation (mm d−1), (middle column) temperature (K), &
(right column) 500 hPa height (m) anomalies during the fall and winter of 1933–1934.
3.3 Winter and Early Spring
Cold season precipitation was reduced across much of WNA during the winter of 1933–1934 (Figure 3, left column), with major deficits in California, the Northwest, and the eastern half of the United States. Along with the drying, warm temperatures prevailed across most of WNA, while most of eastern North America was anomalously cold (Figure 3, middle column).
Such a dipole configuration, characterized by a ridge over the Gulf of Alaska or along the West Coast and a trough over northeast North America, would have acted to suppress precipitation over much of WNA and favored the advection of cold air from high latitudes into the eastern part of the continent.
These circulation and climate anomalies strongly resemble the most recent winter of 2013–2014 (Figure S4) when a similar, but more persistent, circulation pattern intensified the ongoing drought in California and the Southwest and caused extreme cold conditions in eastern North America [Wang et al.2014b].

To further quantify the similarity between circulation during the winters of 1933–1934
and 2013–2014, we computed centered anomaly correlations (ACc) over North America (170°W–50°W, 20°N–70°N) between monthly 500 hPa height fields for these two periods. Of all months during the water year of 1933–1934, November 1933 and March 1934 were the strongest circulation analogues to this most recent winter.
Highest correlations with November 1933 are in November 2013 (ACc = +0.51),
December 2013 (ACc = +0.58), January 2014 (ACc = +0.74), and March 2014 (ACc = +0.57). For March 1934, correlations are similarly strong with December 2013 (ACc = +0.56), January 2014 (ACc = +0.68), and March 2014 (ACc = +0.64).

November 1933 also correlates strongly with circulation during October–December 1976 (ACc = +0.64 to +0.71), the beginning of one of the most severe Californian droughts in the historical record (1976–1977). While further analysis is beyond the scope of this paper, these correlations do suggest that wintertime ridging along the West Coast may play a recurring role in driving precipitation deficits during major West Coast droughts.

The 1933–1934 geopotential height and climate anomalies are not consistent with a
La Niña SST forcing signal; Wang et al. [2014b], however, linked the 2013–2014 winter circulation pattern to SST variability preceding an El Niño event in the western tropical Pacific (110°E–160°E, 10°S–20°N). Compared to the winter of 2013–2014, SST anomalies in this region were relatively weak during 1933–1934.
To more explicitly test the SST forcing hypothesis, however, we analyzed ensemble simulations of two atmospheric models forced by observed SSTs, simulations that will contain responses to precursor SST anomalies, including La Niña conditions and other global SST patterns. These models (the Community Climate Model Version 3 (CCM3)
and the NASA Goddard Earth Observing System model version 5 (GEOS-5)) have been used previously to investigate SST forcing of North American drought variability

THIS IS WHY THEY STILL CALL IT CAPE FEAR . . .JULY 12, 2022, CHUCK FAGER
I have friends who are shocked that I drink bottled water and have for years. This article explains why. I have lived in this “forever chemical-soaked” region for 20 years. Someday (maybe; not very likely) this toxic horror show will get fixed. In the meantime, I have to drink water every day. I choose stuff that’s been filtered a few times more than what
comes from the top; so, sue me.

The cast of villains here includes everybody’s favorites: for lefties, big corporations spew the poisons nonstop & laugh at regulations. For righties, “big government” has spent lots and failed miserably; so too have the “small” & supposedly “closer-to-the-people” units: cities, counties, the state. For nativists, foreigners (esp. China) are in on it too, owning
the world’s biggest hog slaughterhouse nearby. Etc.

Maybe we should try that old standby, Thoughts and prayers.
I welcome the exposure this article delivers. But I’m more than a little jaded: in these twenty years, big journalistic exposés have floated by every few years. Usually they’re pretty good, now and then a reporter gets a prize. And nothing seems to change.
So, take a look, while I go refill some plastic jugs at our community co-op super filter
water machine.

Cancer fears plague residents of US region polluted by ‘forever chemicals’ | The Guardian
In Wilmington, North Carolina, 50-year-old Tom Kennedy thinks it might be time to stop fighting the cancer that started in his breast and now grips his spine. He’s endured 85 chemotherapy treatments since an inverted nipple sent him to the doctor five years ago, and he fears the endless struggle to keep him alive is more than his daughters can bear.
He wonders if it’s time to let death take him so his family can move on.

Cancer and questions plague North Carolina residents of PFAS-polluted region
Exposure to harmful PFAS remains almost impossible to escape – particularly for the people of the Cape Fear River basin. Cancer fears plague residents of US region polluted
by ‘forever chemicals.’ Exposure to harmful PFAS remains almost impossible to escape – particularly for the people of the Cape Fear River basin.

A deadly cancer has already taken 43-year-old Amy Nordberg Shands away from her family, of Winnabow N.C. Nordberg died in January after a three-year battle with a vicious cancer that followed the development of multiple sclerosis. The cancer moved through her body faster than doctors expected, enveloping her colon and invading her bone marrow.

Kennedy and Nordberg are only two among many sick and dying people who live
in the Cape Fear River basin of North Carolina, where environmental testing has found persistently high levels of different types of toxic compounds known collectively as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS.

Several industries operating in the area have been using PFAS for years, while DuPont
and successor Chemours have been producing the chemicals at a plant in Fayetteville
situated along the river. PFAS are typically part of the manufacturing of thousands of
products resistant to water, heat and stains.

Some of the most widely studied types of PFAS have been linked to a range of human health problems, including cancers. They’re called “forever chemicals” because they
don’t degrade and accumulate in the environment and human bodies.

But despite more than 20 years of warnings from public health advocates, exposure
to the chemicals remain almost impossible to escape – particularly for the people of
the Cape Fear River basin.

The physical and emotional suffering that comes with living in an area polluted by toxins is ripping through families, scarring lives and short-circuiting dreams for the future.

Making it all worse is the fact that while many people feel certain the health problems,
they or their friends and loved ones are experiencing are connected to the PFAS pollution, confirming those suspicions has been almost impossible. State and federal regulators have pushed back against requests for in-depth studies.

“The response is not proportional to the harm that’s been committed here,”
said Emily Donovan, executive director of the Clean Cape Fear advocacy group,
created in 2016 in response to the crisis.

SPLASHING in PFAS Foams

Chemours has acknowledged the concerns about PFAS contamination and says it has been working for several years to address them with residents and regulators. Still, the signs of contamination are all around. On beaches in Oak Island, near where the Cape Fear spills into the Atlantic Ocean, children build sandcastles and splash in PFAS foam, a form of toxic waste. When it rains, PFAS-laced foamy water bubbles in gutters in the town of Leland.

PFAS contamination has been documented throughout the region – in drinking water;
in air and soil samples, in crops, in livestock and fish; and, notably, in blood samples taken from people who live and work in the region. The basin is considered an important natural resource for drinking water, agriculture, and recreation. But the 450,000 residents and another 200,000 tourists who visit the area annually risk exposure to PFAS contaminants, experts say.

It all makes the region a perfect “petri dish” for PFAS research – a chance to study how
40 years of exposure to a broad cross-section of PFAS affects a large population’s health,
according to a coalition of community and the environmental justice groups that have demanded comprehensive research program on 54 PFAS emitted by the Chemours plant.

The EPA has rejected the requests and has said it will analyze only seven PFAS and attempt to extrapolate their health impacts and toxicity data across the entire class of
over 9,000 PFAS compounds. Last month, the coalition sued the EPA over the issue.
“We’re outraged – they basically gave us nothing,” said coalition attorney Bob Sussman.

The problems in Cape Fear persist even after the Biden administration last year launched a sweeping multibillion-dollar project aimed at reducing PFAS use and public exposure to the chemicals. Because the chemicals don’t naturally break down, meaningfully reducing levels in drinking water near the plant and remediating the land will likely take decades, said Detlef Knappe, a PFAS researcher with North Carolina State University.

“Peoples’ lives really got turned upside down because it’s not just drinking water, it’s likely food, fishing, swimming in the lakes, property values: all of these things won’t change for the foreseeable future,” Knappe said. “It’s a tragedy, a travesty, and, yes, it’s a result of four decades of Chemours basically operating without oversight in terms of those compounds.”

DuPont owned Fayetteville Works until it spun off Chemours in 2015 to protect itself from PFAS-related legal liabilities. Researchers estimate Cape Fear residents spent decades drinking water with staggering PFAS levels exceeding 100,000 parts per trillion (ppt) –
far above the federal advisory level of 70 ppt for two kinds of PFAS. Some public health groups say no amount above 1 ppt is safe.

Low-income residents who can’t afford costly filtration systems, who subsist on
fish in the river and who have less access to information are more vulnerable.

Though Chemours is not the only PFAS source in the watershed, a study Knappe co-authored linked a significant portion to Fayetteville Works. Chemours states on its website that over the last five years it has “taken numerous steps to dramatically reduce water discharges and air emissions” of PFAS and other compounds from the Fayetteville Works plant.

In a statement to the Guardian, Chemours said it was fulfilling its pledge to sharply
reduce PFAS contamination and noted it has spent $400 million on pollution controls. The company said it operates with transparency and claimed, “no other company in North Carolina … has made a similar commitment.”

Though Chemours stopped discharging PFAS directly into the Cape Fear River in 2017,
the aquifers around Fayetteville still teem with decades worth of contamination.

The chemicals move into the river and wildlife and that helped push drinking water levels around Wilmington to 380 ppt in January – well above what’s considered safe. Almost all of the 10,000 wells tested in the region show some level of PFAS contamination and over two-thirds are above the threshold that requires Chemours to provide filtration.

Fayetteville Works installed air pollution controls in 2020 that partially reduced emissions, but state records show some continues. The chemicals are volatile, also meaning they can move from the ground into the air.

Then, as PFAS drop or rain down on the region’s sandy, red soil, they can move back into the aquifers and re-contaminate drinking water. The toxins have even been found at high levels in kale, lettuce, tomatoes, blueberries and blackberries.

‘I have to do what’s right for them’
Though regulators have refused to conduct blood studies, an ongoing North Carolina State analysis of blood samples from more than 500 residents has confirmed the presence of some Chemours-produced PFAS compounds in the blood samples.

About a week after an early May spine surgery, Kennedy lay weakened in a rehabilitation center bed, his contorted, frail body covered in bruises and sores. His wife, Christine, helped him change positions and sip juice from a straw. Though doctors say he could live several more years if he continues treatments, Kennedy said his constant sickness is ruining the lives of his children, trapping them in a steady state of grief.

“How many times can they see me get put into an ambulance?” he asked from
the hospital beds. “Who wants to die? I don’t, but I have to do what’s right for them.

Beth Markesino, 38, who lives roughly 11 miles away from Kennedy, still mourns the loss of a 2016 pregnancy she believes is connected to the fact that she drank water potentially laced with PFAS. About 23 weeks into her pregnancy, sharp stomach pain sent Markesino to doctors who found her unborn child had not developed kidneys, a bladder, or bowels, and wasn’t producing amniotic fluid.

Six months after burying the boy she named Samuel at a family plot in Detroit,
Markesino saw a local news story reporting PFAS linked to pregnancy complications
had contaminated her drinking water.

“I’ll never know 100% if that’s what happened with my son, but I drank the water,
and I drank tons of it,” Markesino said. She has since suffered from PFAS-linked health problems that include ovarian cysts, thyroid cysts and tumors.

Over 70 miles west, near Fayetteville, 38-year-old Adrian Stokes suffers from
health problems that include thyroid disease, kidney cysts, pulmonary embolisms,
an autoimmune disorder, an enlarged liver, and debilitating exhaustion.

“I feel like I could probably kill myself because of how bad I hurt,” he said.
Pets he once had also suffered a range of health problems.

A few miles away, US army veteran Mike Watters founded a citizens’ group to seek answers on PFAS contamination concerns after his three dogs died of pancreatic cancers. He helped connect 30 local owners of sick dogs and horses with university researchers who drew blood from the animals, tests that confirmed the animals were contaminated with PFAS too.

The blood test results, and other data has been shared with state officials, and the legislature did create a “PFAS Collaboratory” made up of university researchers to
study contamination. But the Collaboratory can’t enforce laws, fine companies or
order cleanups.

And even though Chemours is operating under a 2019 consent order issued by regulators, the company has regularly violated that order.

‘We thought we had time’
For Amy Nordberg’s husband Jonathan Shands, the push for research comes too late.
He has little doubt about who and what to blame for her January death. Tests showed Chemours’ PFAS not only in the family’s drinking water, but also in his wife’s blood.

Before she developed cancer, Nordberg was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which new science links to PFAS exposure. Then, over the course of three agonizing years, a cancer that first attacked her sinuses and face spread rapidly.

Nordberg had been determined to live long enough to see the couple’s daughter Izzy, 15, graduate from high school. But the cancer moved too fast, attacking her colon and bone marrow late last year. “We thought we had time,” Shands said.
“But none of that happened. Chemours can hide behind lawyers, and they can do whatever they want to do.
The fact is, she is no longer here. And that’s not going to bring her back.”

CANCER ALLEY LOUISIANA (1987- )
 CONTRIBUTED BY: SUMAYA ADDISH

Cancer Alley Louisiana, known in the ’80s as “Chemical Corridor.”
– “Cancer Alley” is an 85-mile-long stretch of the Mississippi river lined with
oil refineries and petrochemical plants, between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
– People living in the area are more than 50 times as likely to get cancer than
the average American.
– For years, residents have suffered from illnesses, but they’ve been unable
to prove a causal connection between industry and the health effects.

as environmental racism (lailluminator.com)

When residents of St. Gabriel, Louisiana took note of the large number of fellow community members being diagnosed with cancer along Jacobs Drive, the community nicknamed the street “Cancer Alley.” As the number of cancer cases steadily grew within their community and across the state, Cancer Alley’s reach extended 85 miles along the banks of the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
The alley had a concentration of plastic plants, oil refineries, and petrochemical facilities that make it one of the most toxic areas in the nation. Before being named “Cancer Alley” however, the region was originally labeled “Plantation Country,” describing the grim past in which enslaved Africans underwent forced labor.

The lack of environmental regulation in St. Gabriel and other neighboring cities has led to a plethora of ailments plaguing the residents, ranging from cancer to mental and physical developmental disorders. In 2002, Louisiana had the highest death rate due to cancer in the nation, and the annual carbon dioxide emission rate in the St. James parish, where St. Gabriel is located, equaled that produced by approximately 113 countries, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Despite the grim statistics of the threats posed by these facilities, industrial expansion continues especially in areas with high percentages of poor and Black residents.
Cancer Alley, Louisiana, is one of many examples of environmental racism.
It is home to 45,000 citizens, the majority of whom are poor and Black and who continue to be poisoned with toxic waste which generate various life-threatening illnesses. While reality remains grim, many residents of Cancer Alley have organized themselves to protest the further destruction of their city. RISE St. James, a grassroots organization founded in 2018, organized its first protest in response to the St. James Parish (County) Council approving the “Sunshine Project,” which would build another large plastic plant in the area.

During the march, protesters held signs reading, “Green Jobs. Green Infrastructure” & “Clean Air. Clean Water. And Clean Soil”. In response the Louisiana state legislature in May of 2021, enacted a bill criminalizing protester activity with a three-year minimum prison sentence. The bill was vetoed by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards. Despite suppressive actions taken by lawmakers, community members continue to advocate for their environmental and civil rights.
Between 2009 and 2016, air pollution in the U.S. decreased significantly.
Although Cancer Alley remains one of the most polluted areas in the nation, industry expansion in the area has slowed dramatically, providing some relief. In January of 2021, President Joe Biden signed Executive Order 13990, Protecting Public Health and also the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis. This executive order pledges the federal government to intensify its enforcement of environmental regulations in areas like Cancer Alley that are economically and socially marginalized.

What Top Priorities in Life Should We Have? (11 Examples)
BY ERIC

Sometimes in life we can feel like everything is important. As a result, we struggle to get anything done. We can feel like there isn’t enough time in our days to do all of our tasks.
If that’s your mindset, you may need to set some priorities. Not having a clear sense of your priorities makes it harder to manage your time.

With your time mismanaged, it can be more of a struggle to make any progress
with your goals. Taking on a large number of responsibilities will only overwhelm you.
Determining your priorities is a key factor to accomplishing what matters to you in life.
Being clear on them allows you to make the best decisions.

If you’re unsure of what your top priorities should be, the suggestions I’ve listed later
in this article will help get you started. But first, let’s breakdown this idea deeper.

What are priorities?
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, priority means something given
or meriting attention before competing alternatives. It’s the meaningful and
important areas in life that we put more time and effort into over other things.
They ‘re the relationships, activities, or practices that we choose to value most.

Instead of dealing with the stress of everything being important, you have something
to be focused on first. You can be more able to say no to certain requests of your time.
You can be more disciplined in what you choose to do in your day. When you have your
top life priorities set, it can guide you in what tasks to focus on in your day.

How are priorities different from goals?
A goal is the end objective to what you’re trying to achieve. Let’s say for example you want to get a certain grade in a class. You would need to make choices such as studying or going to a tutor a priority. Things related to school would be put first, and you’d say no to choices that would keep you from achieving your goal.

Why you should have priorities
It’s no fun when you feel indecisive in your decision making. It’s no fun to feel anxiety about whether you’re making the best choices in life. You can develop confidence in
your decision-making through having clearly defined priorities. You can be less burned
out with not having to try to do everything.

Your priorities may change over time, but no matter what you prioritize, it’s important
to have them to be more productive and less stressed. Here are some examples you can consider for deciding what priorities you’re going to have in life.

image.png
These are in no particular order of importance.

You can decide which of these should be your top ones.

1. Physical well-being
Our well-being is what allows us to be alive to enjoy life. Without looking at a study,
it’s probably true most people who are physically unwell are not that happy.
Vice versa, people who are physically well probably are happier.
A lot of mental issues can be linked to whether one is living a lifestyle of wellness.
People who are inactive and constantly looking at screens tend to be more anxious and depressed. Additionally, when we’re not as active in life, we put ourselves at risk for other physical ailments.
People who aren’t physically fit also tend to have less energy. If you don’t have
as much energy, you’re less motivated to do what’s necessary for your happiness.
We should all choose to make being physically well important to our lives.
That mainly means getting enough sleep, eating right, and exercising.
Taking care of those three basic things can make a world of difference
in your overall physical wellness.

2. Mental well-being
There’s a circular effect when you take care of yourself mentally and physically.
The better you take care of yourself physically, the better you’ll feel mentally.
The better you feel mentally, the more you’ll take care of yourself physically.
It’s hard to want to eat well and exercise when you’re feeling low.
It’s important to do what you can to nurture your emotions.
Take moments in your day to breathe and relax.
Allow yourself space to pause and relieve some of your burdens through meditation.
Write in a journal or take a walk outside in nature.
If you need to talk to someone, don’t be ashamed to seek out professional help.
Our world would be much better off if more of us sought therapy.
Taking care of our mental well-being is something that should be important to everyone.

3. Life purpose
We all have hopes, dreams and passions in life.
Ideas we’ve thought about since childhood, or a purpose we discovered in our adulthood.
Whichever the case is for you, it can be something you can make important in your life. Take time to do something every day that gets you closer to your dream.
Put together a long-term plan of success to make your purpose in life more possible. Include ways you can make yourself more prepared for potential opportunities.
Some of you may not even know your life purpose now.
If that’s the case, it should be even more prioritized.
Go out and try new things. Take on some different challenges in life you’ve never considered. It’s through living and experiencing life we discover what we really like.
Take time to get out and do things more to discover your purpose if you haven’t,
then put a plan together to pursue it.

4. Family
Family is a tricky one. I’ve met people who make everything in their life.
I’ve also met other people who don’t care to have much to do with their families.
It all varies based on whether someone had positive or negative experiences growing up. The way I see it, even if your family life hasn’t been the best, it could still perhaps be prioritized.
It just might be in a different way than most people. No matter how your parents
may have been, you still wouldn’t be in this world without them.
If you can help them out in some way, that would be a good thing to do.
If you’re not close with your siblings, you can still be there for them if they need help.
Just be sure it doesn’t have a significant negative impact on your life. Family, whether
it’s the one you grew up with or the ones you found in adulthood, is a good thing to make matters in your life.

5. Relationships
Beyond family, your relationships in general can be something you make time for in life. I’ve mentioned before that a Harvard study noted one of the biggest factors to a long life
is happy relationships.
If your relationship with your friends, your partner,
or family members is a negative one, you need to find a way to fix them.
Sit down with those people and talk about why the relationship has felt negative for you. Have a real heart-to-heart conversation with them.
Pay attention to how much they’re listening and understanding you,
versus waiting until they can speak and defend themselves.
If you get to a point where you no longer feel respected, you might have to make a tough decision.
If you’ve prioritized your mental well-being, then for the sake of it,
you might have to cut the negative people out.

6. Financial well-being
Money is something we pretty much all have to focus on in life.
Without it, it’s extremely difficult to take care of ourselves and our families.
There’s a lot of ways you can be more conscious of the money you have in life.
The first obvious way is to save.
There are many apps that can help you track how much you’re spending in a month.
Secondly, you can look for ways you can earn extra income.
There are gig sites like Upwork where you can find small jobs you can do.
Consider looking into other opportunities like Uber or Airbnb.
Lastly, it’s good to consider investing.
While you may not know a lot about it, try learning something new every day.
Over time, you can build up enough knowledge to make some wise investment decisions. Consider looking into consulting with an investment advisor as well.

7. Personal development
The better you get as a person, the better your life can get. That’s why you
should think about making personal development an essential part of your life.
There are a number of motivational speakers you can watch on TV and self-help books you can read. One of my favorites I would recommend is How to Fail at Everything and Still Win Big.
It’s got loads of good practical life skills to improve in yourself. Some other things you might want to do is attend business workshops or take gym classes.
Think of what your weaknesses are and look for resources you can use to improve on them. Being someone with a variety of talents can increase your odds of success in life.
Look at it as a fun challenge to see how much you can build yourself up as a person.

8. Your Community
Community is a big thing for some people. We all have to live together, so it should be important for all of us to do our part to care about one another.
Find time to volunteer with organizations that feed the hungry or tutor at-risk children. Look for local nonprofits and charities that you can donate your time and money to.
In addition to your local community, the global community can be something you focus more on too.
You can donate to causes around the world or do your part to limit the effects of global warming by living more sustainably.
Its people help other people which keeps us from being crushed by the burdens of the world.

9. Safety
Particularly with finding a place to live, most of us make it important
to live somewhere safe. Unfortunately, not all of us get to have this luxury.
If you’re planning to move somewhere new, realtor.com can highlight
where some of the heaviest crime areas are in a city.

10. Happiness
As important as happiness is, it can seem sometimes
we don’t do enough to make it essential in our lives.
We spend a lot of time worrying about how our choices may affect someone else.
There’s of course nothing wrong with being selfless towards others.
But you should also be considerate of yourself too.
If you’re happy, you can be better able to make others happy.
Think about what makes you feel really good in life.
These are things you should try to have more of for your overall happiness.
Try to also eliminate things that don’t bring you as much happiness as well.
I’ve written a few steps you can read on how you can become a minimalist.

11. Faith
Growing up in the south, faith was the biggest priority in most people’s lives I knew.
Going to church on most Sundays and having Bible studies at home.
If you want to make a faith an important part of your life, get connected with a local church community. Participate in church activities, read a religious text, and pray often.
I wrote an article on Christian minimalism that you might find useful.

All of these are great examples of what people make necessities in their lives.
There are probably many more that people consider important.
Once you decide what’s of importance to you, make more time for those things.
Doing so will help make you happier than you’ve ever been.

What Are the Top 7 Priorities to Have in Life?

Favorite priorities in life – Bing video
Do you try to complete all your tasks each day because you feel every item on your to-do list is highly important? Are you limited by time to achieve all of those tasks?
It takes having a clear list of priorities to effectively manage your time and know what counts while advancing in the direction of your goals. You might eventually stress yourself out if you continually take on too many tasks.

If you’re unsure whether you’re overwhelming yourself with too many responsibilities in life, take our Life Assessment for free and find out. This assessment will help analyze your different aspects of life and then give you an overview of your life’s satisfaction level.
Take the free assessment here.
Remember, your goal is a target you want to meet in the future. Priorities are those things you need to establish and focus on to meet that target. Once you have a list of priorities, you’ll stand a better chance of implementing changes and decisions that align with your life mission.
Everyone is different, and everyone will care about different things. However, some common threads connect us all. You may not find that every item on this list of priorities resonates with you, but it’s likely that at least a few of them will. If you’re not clear on your priorities, these may help you identify where you should put your thoughts and energy.

1. Your Life Mission
Your life missions are priorities that give you meaning and happiness. These are what make you live beyond being successful, but also work on something significant in life. What do you want from life? When you prioritize those things without compromising
your commitment to them, you will always end up achieving your goals.
Define your mission statement and identify things you need to do to accomplish your purpose in life.
Once you have established what your life missions are, organize your tasks, and make every item on your to-do list express those missions. If an item does not align with your purpose in life, refuse to work on it. If you want to lose weight, go ahead. If your life mission requires oratory skills, commit yourself to practicing that. The bottom line
is that your to-do list should be an expression of your personal and professional goals?

2. Physical Health
Your health is highly crucial and should be first on your list of priorities.
It determines your prosperity, comfort, and overall attitude.[1]
Bad health robs you of happiness and reduces your overall productivity.
This is why you need to break the cycle of poor health.
Here’s why your physical well-being should be on your list of priorities:
You can only be more productive and focused when you are healthy.
Your quality of sleep will improve.
You will be in a better mood when interacting with other people.
You will be more energetic to accomplish your life mission.
You will have good self-esteem. Sickness robs you of confidence.
Do these to improve your health:
Eat a balanced diet, develop a solid exercise routine, and don’t skip sleep.

3. Quality Time with Family
When you are having a bad time at work, the first pillar of support is always your family. Time spent with family enhances your self-esteem, promotes positive habits, and builds memories.
Prioritize spending time with your immediate family and make that time count.
Exercise or work out together, go for a walk after dinner, select a book to read
together, cook, or have a meal together. Prioritize togetherness!
You can be successful at work and still enjoy quality time with your family.
It’s important to recover the sense of a unified self in dismantling your work-life binary.
Therefore, avoid sacrificing your family while you pursue success in your business or work.

4. Healthy Relationships
Relationships are important in finding meaning and purpose in life. After your family, your friends, colleagues, or members of your community play significant roles in your
life beyond what you can imagine.   According to Northwestern Medicine [2], prioritizing healthy relationships can reduce the production of the stress hormone cortisol responsible for stress. A study discovered that married people are not as likely to experience psychological stress. This is because the emotional and social support that relationships offer can be an excellent cure for stress [3].
Furthermore, healthy relationships help you build healthy habits. Accountability partners, mentors, life coaches, and teachers play crucial roles in achieving your goals.
Therefore, surround yourself with people that will inspire you daily and isolate yourself from toxic relationships.

5. Mental Health
Are you always busying with work, social commitments, studies, family, and daily activities? If yes, then you need to prioritize your mental health. Establish a routine
to investigate how you feel when you are busy or overworking.
Try doing the following to keep yourself in check.
Perform a Mental Audit
Take note of what you feel, think, or say and how they impact your mood,
either positively or negatively.
Identify Red Flags
Red flags are warning signals that indicate when you are experiencing a shift in your thoughts, feelings, and habits. They could also warn you when you are experiencing burnout or stress. The earlier you know what’s wrong with you and develop coping strategies to resolve the issues, the faster and easier it will be to get back on track.
Figure out Your Trigger
If you notice some tasks, events, habits, or experiences impact your mental well-being, such as health issues, increased workloads, or relationship challenges, practice self-care during those periods. Self-care is not selfish. It helps you to regain your balance so you
can take on more tasks.

6. Finances
Money is not insignificant. While it may not buy happiness, you need to earn at least above what you need to stay happy. Life can be miserable when you’re struggling to pay the bills or feed yourself, so prioritize your finances!
Robert Kiyosaki, in his book Cashflow Quadrant, recommends:
“Make money work for you rather than working all your life for money.” [4]
Robert is simply advising you to work on your savings and investment goals.

So how do you prioritize and improve your finances?
Figure out your income-generating assets and income-depleting liabilities.
Then, increase your assets and reduce your liabilities. Also, save as much as possible to make your life more comfortable in the future. You can also invest your savings in any
low-risk project that can earn you passive income in both the short-term and long-term.
Lastly, avoid debt as much as you can and save for emergencies.

7. Self-Improvement
In the words of Lou Holtz, “You are either growing or dying” [5].
You can only become the person of your dreams by shunning mediocrity and complacency.
There are simple ways to improve yourself. You can watch TED Talks that can impact your life positively, read personal development books, or learn new skills. It’s not even a bad idea to learn something outside your field. Learning sustains living!
Follow these steps to create a self-improvement plan that works for you.

1. Define Your Goals
Define your goals (general list) and become more specific by breaking up your
general list into specific items: lose 20 pounds, earn a certificate, train for a new role, etc.
You can read more on how to set SMART GOALS.

2. Focus on Your Strengths
Highlight your strengths and what you lack to accomplish the specific goals.
Then define why you want to see them become reality. How will they benefit you?

3. Visualize
Visualize yourself achieving your goals. You can design a vision board to enable you to
see what success will look like. It may include pictures of a healthier and happier you!

4. Lay Out Your Plan
Establish your game plan. How will you get there? What will it require? Learning a new skill? Subscribing to an online course? You need to define those actionable steps you need to take to improve.
Don’t forget to set small milestones as you proceed so you can reward yourself when you achieve little successes.

Conclusion
If by now you are not sure of what your top priorities are, you might need to sit down and list everything important to you. For instance, if you are burnt out and it’s taking a toll on your health, then you will need to prioritize your health. There’s no way you can focus and be productive if you are not healthy.
The next step is to establish a game plan. For instance, you can highlight what you can do to avoid burnout. It could be mindfulness, talking to a psychologist, or taking a break from work. Then, block out time to implement your game plan.

Finally, take a self-assessment test to know if you are on track. If you need help with evaluating your progress, you can talk to your accountability partner, spouse, colleague,
or mentor. I will round off with the words of Brandon Sanderson, a successful American fiction writer and the brain behind Cosmere Universe:[6]

‘Shinzo Abe was killed because…’: Attacker tells cops why he shot ex-Japan PM
Ex-Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe died after being shot during a political event. Japanese media quoted police sources – The killer was ‘dissatisfied’ with ex-PM.
The 41-yr-old killer reportedly served in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force.
Japanese police – Shinzo Abe shooting suspect said he used a handmade gun.
Officials said explosives were found at the shooter’s residence. Japan Ex-Leader
Shinzo Abe Assassinated by Man Allegedly Using Homemade Gun.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated at a small political rally. While giving his speech, a 41-year-old man with a “personal grudge” shot Abe twice in the back. The suspected assassin was taken down by Abe’s security detail, apparently dropping his homemade double-barreled gun. The 67-year-old man was pronounced dead after five hours of surgery. He was Japan’s longest-ruling prime minister from 2012 to 2020.

Police said the gunman had admitted to shooting Abe
with a handmade firearm he had fashioned out of metal and wood.
Japanese Media reported his name as Tetsuya Yamagami. Police said he was a Nara resident who worked at Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Forces for three years but now appeared to be unemployed. Much love to our beloved Japan and her wonderful people. I’m so sorry… May God bless him and rest his soul. Amen

The way you talk about the Chinese’ reaction to the assassination reminds me

Yall are crazy……… Around the World!!!
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”

For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. O house of Jacob, come,
let us walk in the light of the LORD. Isaiah 2:1-5

God is on the Move with lyrics – YouTube
I love my country, my people, our military, and my family………This is why things are falling apart because you people have this weird belief that this is all happening for a reason, and we should just pray. Is praying doing anything? Are the problems stopping
or getting worse? While you pray and have this weird thing about “This is supposed to happen”.

There are children being groomed, and our country is falling apart. Instead of doing something about it like our forefathers did. We just say, “Oh well, this is god’s work,
just pray and let it happen”. I know the Bible well. “Faith without works is useless”. Meaning hiding in your house and praying isn’t going to stop this madness.

It is confusing, but people are waking up to the fact we have to get involved in some way. Start at your state level. There are several groups that are doing positive things for change…one of them is the Truckers’ movement. So much is happening behind
the scenes that it is hard to explain if you didn’t start researching years ago.

Research. Operation Paperclip and Operation Mockingbird to start.
I know all about all of these, paperclip, mockingbird all of it. I understand exactly
what’s happening. The elites, new world order, worldwide communism,
I know I’ve been researching for 10 years or better.

I don’t think a real Christian believes we should just set back and say oh well, it’s God’s will. God teaches us to live with all men as peaceably as possible.

Because he knows it’s not always possible. We need to fight for what’s right. The Bible also says put on the whole armor of God because your enemy is seeking to destroy you. On the other hand I look around and know that what is happening around the world, God said would happen. He never said he approved or that he liked it but to be ready.
The end is near. It is exciting to know the pain, suffering and evil will soon come to an end. I for one get Worn down seeing all the people suffering in the world.
We as Christians better be ready to fight. (Good Always Overcomes Evil.)

< Read the following and also pray for salvation.
The peoples of our world are lost souls & soulless. 1 Corinthians 2:14 –
Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.
You see things through carnal eyes and lack understanding.

Psychological warfare is intentional also by design…
You’re right, I say buckle up cuz it’s going to get very crazy! Buckle up everyone!
There is no hope without loss, hurt, pain. Hope springs forth from tears.
Beware when ‘they’ say HOPE!! We have to stay strong – we know God is in control.
God is in control but wants us to fight evil. Complacency will be our downfall.
Defy their rage and keep our focus on what’s good.

Everyone wants to talk about Ukraine, Russia and China. Canada is our neighbor, many
of us have friends and family living there. I am surprised you did not mention Canada’s internet grid down with millions facing serious issues. No ATM use, no 911 calls, no debit card use, no internet, cell use this past week. It’s not everyone, but 11 million is lots!

God is going to create a new heaven and a new earth 🌎 WITHOUT evil 😈.

He will correct it alright because this world is definitely going the right way.

Jesus is the way, always has been, always will be ✝️

Correct, But THE HEAVENLY FATHER HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES… For the Blessed us with FREE WILL. WE THE PEOPLE MUST FACE OUR FOES,
with the SPIRIT of OUR HEAVENLY FATHER LEADING US.

No, we need action. 6 million Jewish people, Jesus’s people died in the Holocaust
while the German people did nothing. Don’t we ever learn from history!

If you said one name every minute, of a person who died in the holocaust it would take you 11 years to say every name of the people that died, and only a handful of people tried to stop it. We need to call our representatives, volunteer for elections, run for office, etc., etc. (passion gets me going). We need action, not just hoping and praying. I’m pretty sure,
God would say something like “I gave your hands, feet and brains, so you can do things
by yourselves. Don’t put your trust in me doing what you already have the tools to do yourselves”.

Precisely… It’s time something sensible was said…
God doesn’t intervene, look at all the countries that have suffered and are suffering under these evil rulers…I’m sure there were many who trusted in God to…. sticking your heads in the sand pretending God will handle it is insane!!! There is no such thing as free will.
That is a human deception brought forth by the devil. Paul wrote that we do what we don’t want to do and what we want to do we don’t do. Even more importantly, Yeshua stated that we do not know what to pray for. We do not even know how to pray. Just focus on
the Heavenly Father and seek Him. He’ll guide you through the holy spirit within you.
God bless you!

We ARE all families in Yeshua, the Holy Spirit and El Shaddai, the Father. NEVER forget that y’all. Christians sticking together is what’s going to get America through this mess. Why else would these evil people be trying to tear down our country and our faith?

The Bible says to not worry/fear not 365 times so if you know the Truth all will be well.

Fear not, 365 times, one for each day of our year, we are covered! 🙏

We have that Promise <><
I can remember when Donald Trump was our president which wasn’t that long ago,
I felt so at ease. I felt so happy. I felt everything was so good, nothing bothered me then.

Now I find myself agitated during the day getting upset throwing things at the TV (pillows) and I’m just so tired of all this hogwash that this president and vice president is putting us through, I cannot wait I cannot wait till we get the house and the senate so we can get rid of these people it’s time to go. It’s Evil, and it has blinded even my family and friends so much it has broken our bond to each other as a family. God bless you and your family!!!

Sadly, the mindset of some people is to control others to their liking. 💯
We do not live in a society of mob rule.
I was saying the exact same thing to myself when I thought about this.
We are not supposed to have anyone pushing their opinions on judicial matters.

When you talk about covering up selling off our oil reserves.

The explanation to KARINE JEAN-PIERRE’s ridiculous cover-up is that the US government bought this oil with tax-payer money from oil companies for the sole purpose to be stored and only to be used in extreme emergencies. This is why it is called ‘strategic oil reserves’. The strategic oil reserves is for emergencies use only, mostly to power our military equipment in times of war. It was never-ever intended in any way to lower gas prices at the pump or to be shipped away from the United States for other countries’ use. Jean Pierre says they can’t control what the oil companies do with the oil, but Joe Obiden can tell gas station owners to drop the gas prices because it’s their fault. Folks… this country is confusing the chit out of me! Don’t ever forget that 10% goes back to the big guy! I’m not confused about that!

There is no scenario that this is okay.
This action is treasonous and is to be dealt with harshly. Where are the hawks now?
Just maybe they re-defined the word emergency or strategic without telling anyone &
is now subjective. Where are the hawks?

If a hawk is flying above you, this is a sign that somewhere deep within you has a vision or purpose that you want to achieve. Patience, strategy, determination, and clarity are necessary to bring your long-term goals to fruition.  A well-recognized behavior of a hawk is its circular motions as it flies up above. This is a sign that they are hunting and are locked onto a purpose. Hawks are gatekeepers of the East, and they represent honesty and clear vision. Hawks are reliable warriors of truth. A hawk crying overhead may be a warning, while one dive-bombing is seen as a challenge.

Everyone should take the time to pull the ones we love close as the world goes through this slo-mo self-destruction! – Focus on positioning yourselves positively with food, water and fuel for the next 6-9 months…

DON’T put yourselves in a position where you’re waiting for Big “G” to help…
They Won’t! – Get to know the neighbors around you locally, as YOU need them,
OR vice versa… AND put yourself around GOOD FOLKS if you can!

(Watch your population densities. That is going to be important.)
Politically, focus more so on LOCAL elections and politicians along with your Sheriffs… they will have the most immediate, direct effect on your life’s day to day. – Increase in your knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and learn more and more to depend upon him! Well… That’s what I’M doing… Our world’s about to get VERY SQUIRRELY

The Great Distruction – The Great Destruction – The Great Distortion –
The Great Distraction – The Great Disruption: In the past thirty years, the United States has undergone a profound transformation in its social structure: Crime has increased, trust has declined, families have broken down, and individualism has triumphed over community.  Has the Great Disruption of recent decades rent the fabric of American society irreparably?  In this brilliant and sweeping work of social, economic, and moral analysis, Francis Fukuyama shows that even as the old order has broken apart, a new social order is already taking its place. The Great Disruption forges a new model for understanding the Great Reconstruction that is under way.

MONTAGE: The Dutch prime minister’s plan to apply the Great Reset to the Netherlands
The Netherlands is below sea level, small, and doesn’t have abundant natural resources.
The Dutch for centuries have engineered and reclaimed the land from the ocean so that they could live independently on their land. Farming and dairy industries have been traditional ways of life for Dutch.

Now the Rutte regime under the control of WEF Klaus Schwab wants to take that away from them and turn the country into WOKE land of green deals and climate change bullshit. In case you’re wundrin’ Nitrogen makes up 70% of air and is inert and harmless. CO2 makes up 0.04% and is necessary for plant growth i.e., all life.

Mark Rutte spent his life as a kneepad wearing corporate root sucker at:
Unilever plc is a British multinational consumer goods company with headquarters in London. Unilever products include food, condiments, ice cream, cleaning agents, beauty products, and personal care. Unilever is the largest producer of soap in the world and its products are available in around 190 countries.

The most liberal countries have the highest risk of becoming Dictatorships.
Wokeness is intolerant and demands 100% compliance and very little if any personal freedom.   He doesn’t serve, or care about, the Dutch people!  Fight Climate Change!
Stop Farming! That’s exactly how twisted our governments have become.

They will starve you to “save the planet”

The Great Reset never will happen with Martin Van Buren and Andrew Jackson and
under democrats and southern Whigs the 1800s and in the early 1900s two World Wars because of the events of the times. Never in the history of mankind has the quest for world domination ended by peaceful negotiations. Dictators know only one language, that by which they rule.

They count on the masses unwillingness to engage in combative action for fear of being labeled the aggressor, the instigator. When the MSM is the propaganda mouthpiece of the governments it’s a war we have already lost. Peaceful protests make a point they are not the solution. Unless a real stand is made the war is lost, our freedoms and rights are lost, and we will have to accept the inevitable future.

U.K. economy: Boris Johnson leaves mess for successor to fix – CNN

Boris Johnson’s policies, like those of his comrade Biden in the US, were designed to
crush the UK and United States economies and they succeeded. Now put a real leader
like Nigel Farage in as Prime Minister and make sure he has the best security around him as he makes believe he wants to make Great Britain great again. Britain has great resolve to stay strong under insurmountable odds, pride, spirit, ingenuity, courage, determination as they fought off the Nazi’s of WWII…”stay the course”.

Downing 10 reminds me of the Benny Hill show……  The unipartite is worldwide, becoming the staging point of “Operation Overlord”. We are all sick and tired of our countries being run by brain dead millionaires and billionaires. They only know money and are not in it to help people; they are in place to make sure their pals and corporates are never challenged about their corruption.

We have to rid our politics of these satanic creatures!!!

We the people of the Free World; you will not be “free,” for much longer, if these actions are allowed to be taken, by these so-called “democratic” governments. You’ve seen what happened during the pandemic; also, the lockdowns, and ruining people’s livelihoods, imprisonment for individuals who have different political views, denying medical care, “forced” vaccinations, keeping your children out of school. Don’t allow them to get away with it; once your freedom is lost, it will be gone forever.

Look at what has happened in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand; they basically
locked people into their properties, and arrested people for not wearing masks. Remember, they’ve also “disarmed” the citizenry. You see where this is going?
You can either accept it with a whimper or go at them like a roaring like a lion.

Every Western democracy is turning in their own friends to be destroyed by the Communist.  Meanwhile more EU rules are on the way: The tightening of fertilizer
rules are just around the corner. In the Netherlands: I Guess the goal is to destroy
Dutch agriculture and blame Putin.  We all have a hell of a fight ahead of us.
Could take years. Vote out the Commies in November, people.

I remember years ago Alex Jones proclaiming our leaders want to merge with each other and live forever. I thought back then this was a bit over the top, but now I can see that he has been right on the money, as far as these trans-humanist monsters are concerned.

Why are mass shooters getting younger and deadlier?
Experts have theories!!!

By Josh Meyer, USA TODAY

Some do it out of a perverse desire to make a difference in the world.
Others are driven by mental illness, pandemic isolation or social media
influences that turn them into hateful and sadistic monsters.
But there’s one increasing commonality among America’s mass shooters: Their youth.
Emerging data shows that killers like the accused gunman in Monday’s Independence Day parade attack in Highland Park, Illinois, 21-year-old Robert “Bobby” Crimo III, are a lot younger on average than they used to be. And researchers are scrambling to understand why, in a desperate effort to stop the next one.
“They are trending younger. The ‘why’, of course, is going to take a bit more research,”
said Katherine Schweit, a former FBI agent who until 2017 headed the bureau’s Active
Shooter Program. “But it appears that so many of them are crying out for attention –
living through pandemic stress and getting indoctrinated online.
And, you know, looking to be famous.”

Uvalde shooting aftermath: Innocents lost: Uvalde attack leaves broken lives, fractured public trust. Just a decade or two ago, most mass shooters in the United States were disgruntled employees who shot up their workplace or killed acquaintances or family members after they snapped from anger or stress.
Today, a relatively new body of research is showing that one of the most pressing threats comes from angry young males who live with family and spend hours online with a community of others with shared grievances and an admiration for bloodshed.

Transitional teen years, pressures
Young men in America have always been susceptible to violence because they are at
an age – usually late teens to mid-20s – when they are trying to fit in with their peers and,
at the same time, find their place in the world. Oftentimes, they encounter rejection and alienation at the same time they are becoming independent of their parents and the social safety net.
Those pressures have been amplified over the past decade by internet and
social media platforms where bullying and aggressive marketing of hateful ideologies – and weapons – is rampant, researchers and law enforcement officials told USA TODAY.
More recently, they say, the problem has been compounded by an intensifying mental health crisis that got exponentially worse during the pandemic-forced isolation.
“It’s really proliferating,” said Arie Kruglanski, a psychology professor at
the University of Maryland who has spent decades studying mass violence and extremism.
The anecdotal evidence of the rise of the young male mass shooter is overwhelming, he says, even if few formal studies have officially quantified it.

Gun violence:
There have already been a dozen mass shootings this year: ‘We’re in a paralysis’
Before the year 2000, there were about three mass shootings a year in the United States, Kruglanski said. In the first six months of 2022, he said, there have been more than 240. And while U.S. school shootings soared to about one a month in recent years, they have escalated to the point where one is occurring about once a week, he said.
USA TODAY defines a mass shooting as an incident where
at least four people are hit with gunfire, even if there are no fatalities.
Young mass shooters are also now training their gunsights, increasingly,
on targets other than schools, according to experts and law enforcement officials.
On Monday, police say, Crimo fired more than 70 shots from a rooftop, killing seven people and wounding nearly 40 more with a legally purchased assault-style rifle before fleeing. He was captured that evening after a manhunt.
Before Crimo’s alleged attack near Chicago, there were the two 18-year-olds accused of carrying out the massacres in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas: Payton Gendron and Salvador Ramos.  Both followed a similar path, openly sharing menacing thoughts online and buying semi automatic rifles as soon as it was legal.

In March 2021, a 21-year-old man launched a deadly attack in a Boulder, Colorado  supermarket. Another 21-year-old gunned down shoppers at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, in August 2019, killing 22 and injuring 25. And a 19-year-old former student went back to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in February 2018 and killed 17 students and staff.

Younger, deadlier mass killers
It wasn’t always this way. Relatively few mass killings before the year 2000 were committed by men below the age of 21, according to available data.
In 1999, Columbine was one of the first, when two teenagers in trench coats, aged 18 and 17, roamed the Littleton, Colorado high school and mowed down 13 people. In April 2007, student gunman Seung Hui Cho, 23, rampaged through the Virginia Tech campus, killing 32 people.
In 2012, a troubled 20-year-old killed 26 people, including 20 children,

Mass shootings: 8 warnings behaviors of potential mass shooter: What to look for
To date, it has been impossible to find common threads that explain the motivations behind all or even some of America’s mass shooters, especially the young ones, according to analysis by researchers and law enforcement agencies.
Some young mass shooters were clearly suffering from mental illness, humiliation at the hands of school acquaintances or family, or felt victimized in some other way. Several, like the Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech and Uvalde shooters, killed themselves after murdering so many others.
Others, like Roof, were clearly motivated by racial hatred. The self-avowed neo-Nazi white supremacist later confessed to committing his crimes in the hope of igniting a race war in what many authorities said was an act of domestic terrorism.

Takesha Leonard is held by her husband, Shawn, as she cries after 10 people were killed and three others injured in a shooting at a Buffalo, NY grocery store on May 14, 2022.
An 18-year-old from Conklin, NY, allegedly shot people inside and outside of the Tops Friendly Market and was motivated by hate, authorities said. Of the 13 people shot, 11 were Black.

The El Paso gunman chose a Walmart in a heavily Hispanic area after posting on the anonymous message board 8chan a 2,356-word “manifesto” containing anti-immigrant and racist rhetoric and a desire to divide the nation into territories by race.
The Violence Project, a nonprofit, nonpartisan U.S. research center dedicated to reducing violence in society, has studied the problem in depth and found 175 variables in 180 mass shooting cases.
The organization did find commonalities, according to a comprehensive national database of mass shootings that it has compiled with federal funding from the National Institute of Justice. For instance, more than 80% of mass shooters were in a noticeable crisis prior to their shooting, with many showing outward signs of increased agitation, the Project’s
Mass Shooter Database found, according to data compiled from 1966 through 2019.
Many of them – including Crimo, authorities say – were obsessed with violence, other mass shootings and a wide array of conspiracies.
Other shooters, according to the Violence Project data, exhibited symptoms that were much harder to categorize. Psychosis played no role for nearly 70% of mass shooters,
it found, although many mass shooters experienced feelings of suicidality either before
or during their attack.
But one finding from the Violence Project is especially noteworthy given the most recent spate of shootings: Hate-motivated mass shootings and fame-seeking perpetrators have rapidly increased since 2015.

A ‘quest for significance’
Many mass shooters, especially young males in America, are driven by such an all-consuming desire to become recognized, or even famous, that it becomes a form of extremist radicalization, said Kruglanski, who directs the university’s Motivated
Cognition Laboratory. At the lab, his team uses experiments, neuroscience techniques, computer modeling and text analyses to study what causes violent extremism.
Kruglanski said this kind of desire for fame and social worth is neither a sign of mental illness nor psychological pathology. It is something much more fundamental, he argued, and stems from the universal human quest for self-worth, and the hunger for acknowledgment and respect.
“The quest for significance is the most important human motive, the most important
social motive – to have dignity, to be somebody, to matter, to gain attention,” he said.
“And unfortunately, violence is one way, a kind of primordial way, of doing that.”
“This has been exacerbated by the fact that these shooters are gaining tremendous media attention, sometimes more than TV stars and film stars. And therefore, they feel that doing it is a surefire way of gaining status and significance,” Kruglanski told USA TODAY.

This quest for significance and social worth appears acutely in adolescence, he said,
when the momentous life transition between childhood and adulthood is complicated
by soaring hormones, turbulent emotions and gnawing uncertainty.
“The fact that they’re getting younger just suggests that people of all ages are picking up
on that idea that if you feel insignificant, if you feel frustrated, if you feel threatened or anxious about your place in the world, there is a way for you to becoming a superstar in the course of a few hours, by picking up a gun and shooting up people.”
Social media platforms that put a premium on popularity reinforce that narrative.

Uvalde shooting victims:
Sorrow, pain as another Uvalde victim is buried:
‘We are basically in a state of undeclared civil war’
The recent Buffalo mass shooter was only the latest to livestream his attack
on social media. That tactic was popularized by a gunman who livestreamed his
murder of 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2019.
Many recordings of it are still available online.
Kruglanski describes this online groupthink as a form of radicalization and extremism because the shooters, not unlike suicide bombers, are so driven by this quest that they completely disregard the fact that the victims are innocent people, including children.
“All that is suppressed,” he said. “It is forgotten at the time, where the only thing that counts is how to feed the quest for significance. And unfortunately, I think it’s spreading.”

An ‘echo chamber’ of violence
Brian Murphy, a former top FBI and Department of Homeland Security official, blamed much of the spike in young U.S. male mass shooters on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and the now-ubiquitous TikTok videos devoured by those under the age of 25.
“We cannot underestimate the ways in which social media serves to reinforce beliefs, including extreme violent ones,” said Murphy, who ran three of the largest investigative social media platforms for the FBI and then headed DHS’s social media intelligence branch during his 26 years in law enforcement.  Since retiring last September, he has run similar operations at the UK-based private firm Logically.
“This is not a new phenomenon, but the trend is accelerating, and the outcomes are more deadly,” said Murphy, whose company works with private and government clients to weed out online extremism. “Young men find, in a self-imposed ever-shrinking online environment, an echo chamber of like-minded violent types who push out the people they do not agree with.”
Among their group of angry peers, a potential mass shooter’s grievances are normalized and even encouraged. Most participants in this kind of feedback loop will never act out physically. But some, Murphy said, become so detached from reality that they become convinced that they alone “have found out what must be done.”
And often, “what must be done” to correct some perceived injustice, is going on
a shooting rampage and gaining the credit for addressing it, Murphy told USA TODAY.
By the time they are moved to action, young mass shooters are often convinced they have nothing to lose, Murphy said, in part based on Internet-driven narratives and groupthink.
“It is evident to me that unless something is done to change this trend line,” he said,
“It will only get worse.”
Schweit, the former FBI active shooter coordinator, said she believes a different approach is needed given how different the new threat is from the traditional workplace attacks.
“The concern that I have, as a person who works in this field, is that we have more younger shooters but we have less reporting by their peers and family members – and they are the only ones who are going to be able to help us kind of quell this increasing onslaught,”
said Schweit, who retired from the FBI five years ago to focus full-time on how to better educate American communities in identifying and stopping mass killers before they strike.

Highland Park shooting:
They came for the American dream.
On the Fourth of July they survived an American shooting

One month after the Uvalde massacre, President Joe Biden signed the most significant gun control bill in nearly 30 years, enhancing background checks on gun buyers 18 to 21 years old. The bipartisan legislation also encourages states to develop better “red flag” laws that would deny guns to people deemed to be dangerous.
But friends, family and online peers also have to be willing to step forward and sound
the alarm, Schweit said, because many young potential mass shooters are suicidal and reaching out for assistance even if they are not aware of it.
“They’re crying out for help in a different way,” she said.
“But they have the ability to cry out for help and commit a mass murder.”
Crimo, for instance, had so alarmed his family with violent threats in 2019 that they alerted police when the boy “said he was going to kill everyone,” authorities said Tuesday. Police removed 16 knives, a dagger and a sword from their residence but no criminal charges were filed.
Schweit, author of the 2021 book “Stop the Killing: How to End the Mass Shooting Crisis,” agrees that law enforcement – and social media and Internet companies – also must do better at catching – and flagging – the warning signs that always seem to precede a mass shooting by a young male assailant.

But relying on them is a guarantee of failure, Schweit said.
“It’s easy in the aggregate afterwards to say, ‘He posted this on some website,’
but the internet is as deep as the sand across the beaches of the world, ” she said.
“It’s impossible to monitor, even if there was a legal way to do it, which there isn’t.
There’s just too much out there.”
Making it harder is that oftentimes, including several recent attacks, mass shooters have posted threats and an intention to commit violence in private chat rooms or using encrypted apps.
Researchers and experts are working overtime to assess the data and
get a handle on the problem, according to Schweit, Murphy, Kruglanski and others.
“But when we have a shooting every week or two shootings a week, the research is going to lag behind, and there’s no way that we can have the information that we want to have in order to tell us what we’re seeing in front of us.”

Survey shows US less concerned about climate change than other parts of the world
Dinah Voyles Pulver, USA TODAY

A new international survey conducted on Facebook, by Facebook owner Meta and the
Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, found that 68% of U.S. residents were
68% either “very worried or somewhat worried” about climate change.  The United States
stands out for being among those least concerned about the warming world.

New study finds polar bears in southeast Greenland use sea ice and freshwater ice to hunt.

In the survey of more than 100 countries released last week, some 67.6% of respondents in the United States said they were either “very worried or somewhat worried” about climate change. Among the 24 western hemisphere countries included in the survey,
only Haiti at 67.3% had fewer respondents worried about climate change.
By comparison, 95% of the people surveyed in Mexico and 93% in Chile and Portugal reported they were at least somewhat worried. Only Jordan (48%) and Yemen (31%) showed fewer than half of respondents were concerned.
Green New Deal, RIP (msn.com)

The survey was conducted on Facebook by its owner, Meta,
and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication.

The partnership surveyed 100,000 people in 110 countries, territories or areas for their views on addressing climate change. Of those, only 13 were less concerned than the U.S.

What else did U.S. residents say?
Nearly (71%) said they know “a lot” or “a moderate amount” about climate change and 83% said they believe climate change is happening. About 56% of the respondents in the U.S. said climate change will harm future generations “a great deal.” Less than half —
41% — said they hear about climate change in their daily lives at least once a week.
U.S. respondents were split on who they believe is responsible for reducing the causes of climate change, with 25% thinking the government is most responsible, 36% answering businesses and 21% saying individual people.
About 40% of those surveyed said the U.S. should use less fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and gas, while 10% said the country should use more. Of all those surveyed in North America, the U.S. had the largest percentage (11%) who said they don’t think climate change is happening. That’s compared with 6% of Canadian respondents and 7% of Haitians.

What else did the survey find internationally?
The majority of respondents in all the areas surveyed said they think climate change is happening, with 9 of 10 respondents in 21 counties and territories agreeing.
At more than 90%, people surveyed in Hungary and Finland were the most likely to say they know “a lot” or “a moderate amount” about climate change. Residents of Haiti and several countries in Central or West Africa (Benin, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria) were the most likely to say they’d never heard of climate change.
At 66%, people surveyed in Sweden and Germany were the most likely to say they hear about climate change in their daily lives at least once a week, while fewer than 10% of the respondents in Yemen, Algeria and Cambodia reported hearing about it that often.

In Romania, Uzbekistan and Lebanon, half those surveyed said the government is most responsible for reducing the causes of climate change. But in El Salvador, Zambia and Panama, about half said individuals were most responsible.
At more than 94%, people surveyed in Costa Rica, Portugal and Hungary were the most likely to agree that climate change is happening.  At 67%, Laos and Haiti had the smallest percentage of people who agreed it’s happening.
Those surveyed in Spain (65%), Sweden (61%) and Taiwan (60%) were the most likely to think climate change is mostly caused by human activities.
A tale of two countries
Yemen, a country on the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea, and Malawi, a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, are only 1,700 miles apart, but they are at either ends of the spectrum when it comes to climate change, often falling into the highest or lowest percentages with their survey responses. Both countries were among those where fewer than 50% said they knew at least a “moderate amount” about climate change.

More: He got booted for discussing climate change. But he’s undeterred:
Respondents in Yemen were the least likely to say climate change was either “extremely” or “very” important to them and among the least likely to say climate change is either a “very serious” or “somewhat serious” threat to their country over the next 20 years.
They were also among those least likely to think climate change is caused by humans.
People in Malawi were among the most concerned about the future. The 62% of respondents in that country who said they believe climate change will harm them personally “a great deal” was more than any other country. And the 85% of respondents
in Malawi who see climate change as “a very serious threat” over the next 20 years was
14 percentage points higher than the next highest figures from Chile (71%) and Mexico (70%).

Why do the survey?
Survey organizers said they hope the findings will be used to inform policy decisions and priorities for governments, especially in countries where climate surveys had not been done before. Because the survey was conducted on Facebook, the authors said it’s likely the survey underrepresents areas of the world with lower income and literacy rates.

Today, businesses are trapped in the green box of sustainable development.
Academics, government leaders, public opinion, and 1000s of laws and regulations demand the adoption of sustainability. In response, companies spend billions on renewable energy, carbon credits, biofuels, and other green policies in an effort to
counter the coming environmental apocalypse.

But a look at data and trends shows that the ideology of environmentally sustainable development is based on false concepts. Population growth is slowing, nations continue to reduce air and water pollution, climate change is dominated by natural factors with negligible effects from human greenhouse emissions, and societal access to resources continues to grow.

Society and business should adopt a policy that is sensibly green. We should continue to reduce air and water pollution, but avoid other policies aimed at stopping global warming and halting hydrocarbon use. These other policies actually do little for Earth’s environment.

Outside the Green Box is a well-illustrated and amusing look at society’s quest to be sustainable, and the resulting misguided policies that provide little benefit for the environment. Learn what “your green consultant didn’t tell you.”

Energy Crisis: New ‘Sand Battery’ Is A Major Breakthrough Solution
The biggest problem for green energy has always been how to store energy for year-round supply. Now, Finnish researchers have created the world’s first fully working “sand battery” which can store green power for months at a time. The main component of the device is low-grade sand, the type used by builders, which is stored in a silo. The device is charged up with heat made from cheap electricity which is generated by solar or wind. The sand is able to store heat at around 500C, which can then warm homes in winter when energy is more expensive. As Finland gets most of its gas from Russia, the war in Ukraine has made the issue of green power a priority. Moscow recently stopped gas and electricity supplies to Finland after they decided to join NATO

RESIDENTS WORRY COUNTRY HEADED IN WRONG DIRECTION

POSTED ON JULY 3, 2022
By Brenda Keller – info@limanews.com

Tom and Deb Sneary relax at their American Township home with their dog, Gracie. The Snearys believe we are “headed in the wrong direction.”
Tom and Deb Sneary relax at their American Township home with their dog, Gracie.

The Sneary’s believe we are “headed in the wrong direction.”
The anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence is a time of great celebration. It is also a time of reflecting on where we have been and where we are going. The National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago — one of the largest independent research organizations in the country, conducted a poll of 1,053 individuals from June 23-27. Their findings suggested that many Americans are concerned with the direction the country is headed.

Several Lima area residents also expressed concern about issues we are facing.
Tom Sneary, a Vietnam veteran, stated, “[The country is] headed in the wrong direction.” Sneary is concerned about the breakdown of the family. His wife, Deb, a retired R.N., believes that young people “don’t have the right guidance.”
Deb Sneary is concerned about the sense of entitlement that she perceives in our society.
The Sneary’s shared examples of individuals who declined job offers because those individuals either did not want to work or did not want to start in entry-level positions. Deb Sneary said she began babysitting when she was 12 years old and “I have learned
what it meant to work.” Her husband believes there is “too much free stuff [from the government]” and it is “pushing us toward socialism.”

Deb Sneary is worried about the rising cost of housing, utilities and food. She is especially concerned about those with a fixed income. She believes impoverished persons may suffer additional health concerns due to their limited resources.
She cited the obesity epidemic as an issue that may be, in part, related to the less healthy but more economical food choices individuals are making.
The Sneary’s believe that society has become so focused on individual rights that decency is sometimes sacrificed. Tom Sneary implicates the mainstream media as a contributor to the changing moral climate.
A 69-year-old gentleman who chose to identify himself only as “Jim,” was asked how he feels about the direction the country is heading. He replied, “For the rich, it’s going very well.”

Denise Ware of Lima believes the economy “could be better.”
She expressed concern about those who are homeless. She shared examples of individuals who received funding from the West Ohio Community Action Partnership to also obtain housing — in her apartment complex. But states that several of those individuals — did not have the ongoing funds to maintain the monthly rent payment. Many of those people now find themselves homeless or with inadequate housing.
The recent need to adjust his living arrangements is something Chase Willoughby from Lima has also experienced. He believes that many of the lower cost houses are being “bought up” by landlords who make minor improvements and then rent the homes at prices that are unaffordable to people with his income level.

28-year-old Chase Willoughby sees a widening between the middle and lower economic classes. He believes mass shootings may be tied to economic pressures.

The 28-year-old landscaper appreciates the increase in wages that some employers are offering. He believes the improvement in wages “shows concern for employee retention.” Willoughby’s concern is that the increase in wages is offset by the rise in inflation.
He sees a widening between the middle- and lower-income classes.

He believes the current economy impacts these groups more than the wealthy.
Willoughby states he is concerned about the safety of women with recently overturning
of Roe v. Wade legislation. He believes that if women are supported, many of them will choose to continue their pregnancies.
He supports improved medical leave and government-sponsored childcare.
Expressing concern over the recent increase in mass shootings, Willoughby believes that many of these events are, at least indirectly, tied to economic pressures. He said, “So many people feel like they’re struggling alone.”

The NORC poll findings indicate that dissatisfaction with the way President Biden is handling the economy has been growing. Biden’s economic approval rating has declined from 51% a year ago to their recent poll finding of 28%.
Clearly, there is work to be done in this great country of ours. As American citizens, each of us has a responsibility to make positive contributions. As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “The fate of America cannot depend on any one man. The greatness of America is grounded in principles and not on any single personality.”

POLL: Most Americans Say Country Is on Wrong Track:
According to the new AP NORC Poll, not only do a majority of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, but 78 percent of Democrats feel that way. A majority of people in Biden’s own party are saying that things are headed in the wrong direction.
An overwhelming and growing majority of Americans say the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction, including nearly 8 in 10 Democrats, according to a new poll that finds deep pessimism about the economy plaguing President Joe Biden.
Eighty-five percent of U.S. adults say the country is on the wrong track, and 79% describe the economy as poor, according to a new survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The findings suggest Biden faces fundamental challenges as he tries to motivate voters to cast ballots for Democrats in November’s midterm elections.

Inflation has consistently eclipsed the healthy 3.6% unemployment rate as a focal point for Americans, who are dealing with high gasoline and food prices. Even among Democrats, 67% call economic conditions poor. The national dissatisfaction is bipartisan, the poll shows. Ninety-two percent of Republicans and 78% of Democrats say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Since last month, the percentage of Democrats saying the country is headed in the wrong direction rose from 66%.

(CNN) — The vast majority of Americans across party lines are unhappy with the state of the US, a new set of polling finds. In an AP-NORC survey released Wednesday, 85% of US adults say that things in the country are headed in the wrong direction, with just 14% believing things are going in the right direction.
That’s a more pessimistic reading than in May, when 78% said things were headed the wrong way and 21% those things were generally moving in the right direction.
Currently, both 92% of Republicans and 78% of Democrats are dissatisfied with the direction of the country — the highest number among Democrats since President Joe Biden took office last year.

“Marxists are brainwashing us”: YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS – George Carlin.
Only 20% of Americans describe the nation’s economy as good, with 79% calling it poor, according to the AP-NORC poll. This sentiment, too, is relatively bipartisan, with both 90% of Republicans and 67% of Democrats describing the economy as poor.

Reuters/Ipsos poll also released Wednesday finds rising discontent, specifically among Democrats, in the days following the US Supreme Court ruling that there was no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion. In that poll, 62% of Democrats say that things in the country are off on the wrong track, up from 49% the prior week. By contrast, 86%
of Republicans say things are on the wrong track, down slightly from 94% a week earlier.

Americans’ views of Biden, meanwhile, remain underwater. A CNN Poll of Polls average
of surveys taken in the second half of June finds that 38% of Americans approve of the
job he’s doing, with 57% disapproving, similar to his ratings earlier in the month.

In the AP-NORC poll, 28% of US adults approve of Biden’s job performance on the economy — his lowest rating on the issue to date in that survey — 36% approve of his performance on gun policy and 53% approve of the way he’s handled the coronavirus pandemic.
While phrases relating to God can be found all throughout the English language,
the above two are rather obviously petitioning God for safety of help.
“Goodbye” hopes that God will give another person safety and
protection, while “so help me God” asks Him for strength.

What about Godspeed?
The online etymology dictionary explains that the word was likely part of the phrase
“(I wish that) God (may) grant you success.” In this sense, it is indeed petitioning God.
The speaker means to say they hope God will look after someone else.

That is not to say that any of the above phrases are considered religious.
It has religious origins and may have been considered pious for 14th century speakers,
any connection to God has since been stripped away. The way Godspeed (Lyric Video) – Frank Ocean is used now appeals more to a sense of luck or general good fortune.
Furthermore, despite its association with astronauts, the phrase has nothing to do
with how fast or slow the Almighty can move. Winner VS Loser   || Who is Winner.

Ways to Stop Dementia

Building the Cognitive Budget for Your Most Effective Mind – Bing video

Ways to Stop Dementia, Says Experts
According to the World Health Organization, 55 million people worldwide live with dementia, “a syndrome in which there is deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected from the usual consequences of biological ageing.” Damaged brain cells cause dementia, and it will affect the way a person thinks and behaves. While there’s no cure for dementia, there are ways to help reduce the symptoms. Eat This, Not That! Health spoke with experts who explain what to know about dementia and seven ways to help slow it down. Read on—and to ensure your health and the health of others,
don’t miss these Sure Signs You’ve Already Had COVID.

1. What Causes Dementia?

Dr. Barry Sears, – Bing video President of the non-profit Inflammation Research Foundation says, “The underlying cause of dementia is age-related inflammation
and the structural damage that comes from that unresolved inflammation in the brain.”

2. Who is at Risk for Dementia and Why?

Dr. Sears states, “The best predictor of future dementia (in addition to age) may be increased insulin resistance that leads to diabetes. This is why many neurologists consider Alzheimer’s to be ‘diabetes type 3.’ Another risk factor is a genetic mutation in the ApoE gene that makes it difficult to transport omega-3 fatty acids into the brain.”

3. How Dementia Can Affect Overall Health and Quality of Life

“Maintaining general health and quality of life requires mental effort,” says Dr. Sears.
“If cognition is compromised, then the quality of life will rapidly decline.

4. What Should People Know About Dementia?

Dr. Sears states, “The time to be concerned about dementia is before it occurs.
Your diet will have a significant factor in reducing its development.”

5. Reduce Insulin Resistance

According to Dr. Sears, “The first sign of increased insulin resistance is weight gain.
Thus, losing excess body fat and getting it off is a primary task. Following a calorie-
restricted anti-inflammatory diet rich in fruits and vegetables is a good starting point.”

6. Get Your Omega-3s
“The average American consumes about 100 mg of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids
(EPA and DHA) daily. They should be taking about 3 grams (3000 mg). Omega-3 fatty acids are the building blocks of powerful hormones (resolvins) that reduce inflammation in the brain and other organs.”

7. Exercise
“Exercise activates the master switch of metabolism (AMPK) that reduces insulin resistance,” says Dr. Sears. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states, “Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving.
Each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
We know 150 minutes of physical activity each week sounds like a lot, but you don’t have to do it all at once. It could be 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. You can spread your activity out during the week and break it up into smaller chunks of time.”

New Study Suggests 10-Second Balance Test Could Predict How Some People Live
Medical researchers monitored hundreds of volunteers who agreed to do the 10-second challenge every year for 7 years. They found that those who failed the test died sooner than those who passed. People are now posting videos of themselves trying out the 10-second balance challenge.

8. Maintain Cognitive Practices Like Reading

Dr. Sears states, “Reading instead of passive watching causes cognitive improvement.
This is especially true of subjects that are new to you.”

9. Reduce Stress

“Stress increases the hormone cortisol which in turn increases insulin resistance,”
Dr. Sears explains. “Any type of stress reduction activity is good for the brain.”

10. Anti-Inflammatory Diet – Bing images

Lisa Richards, a nutritionist and author of the Candida Diet tells us, “Our diet has a greater impact on brain health than we often realize. An anti-inflammatory diet that focuses on fruit, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats is one way to
aid in brain health.
By reducing inflammation in the body and increasing the amount of plant compounds consumed you can prevent and reduce oxidative damage caused by free radicals. This is due primarily to the antioxidant impact these plant compounds have at the cellular level.
Healthy fats like those from lean protein and plant sources can help to reduce inflammation while simultaneously fueling the brain with the type of fat that benefits it
the most. Both of these dietary descriptions can be achieved through a plant-based diet.”

11. Building Cognitive Resources

Dr. Ramandeep Sidhu, Board-Certified General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and founder of Vivaa says, “This tip for preventing and delaying dementia is based on this simple rule: the more you know, the more there is to forget. Keep learning something new and exciting. Travel around and make memories. If experiencing hearing impairment, use a hearing aid but make sure not to limit your social interactions as this will help build your cognitive resource and delay the effects of cognitive decline from becoming too pronounced.”
How to Improve Cognitive Function: 6 Mental Fitness Exercises

12. The neuroscience is clear

Our brains are capable of processing only a fraction of the information available to them, and we have a fixed amount of mental energy at our disposal, regardless of how much we want or need in any given moment. Consequently, our brains use as little mental energy
as possible whenever possible. It isn’t laziness — it’s fuel efficiency.
The bottom line is that there is a limit to how much thinking we can do and how much energy is available to us on any given day, so it’s essential that we spend our precious mental energy deliberately and thoughtfully. We can’t afford to waste it on things that serve to distract and deplete us in harmful ways.

So, what’s a good approach to avoid wasting our finite energy on that which doesn’t serve us? A budget, of course, to forecast resources, estimate need, and create a plan for future decision-making. But for our minds?
A “cognitive budget” is hardly a natural pairing of concepts. Our days are unpredictable, and our brains don’t work like spreadsheets, so a cognitive budget will necessarily be sloppy. But creating one, and revisiting it often, allows us to enact proactive and reactive strategies that leave us happier with more effective minds.

Reverse Alzheimer’s With The Bredesen Protocol – ReCODE

The Overlooked Habits of Happy Aging

Everyone knows someone who has survived cancer,
Natural Health and Healing – HOME (weebly.com)
But no one knows anyone who has survived Alzheimer’s Disease. Until now. In his book The End of Alzheimer’s, Dr. Bredesen unveils his groundbreaking protocol to
prevent and reverse Alzheimer’s disease. The Bredesen Protocol, known as ReCODE, fundamentally changes how we understand cognitive decline.

The Bredesen Protocol: 6 Strategies (Plus, does it work?)

Dr Bredesen Alzheimer’s – Search (bing.com)

Dr. Dale Bredesen Alzheimer’s – Search (bing.com)

Dr. Dale Bredesen Alzheimer’s – Search (bing.com)

What Is the Bredesen Protocol?

Through Dr. Bresdesen’s research, he discovered Alzheimer’s disease is not one just condition. He believed it is instead three distinct conditions, which are influenced by at least 36 metabolic factors, (such as micronutrients, hormone levels,
and sleep), which can all trigger “downsizing” in the brain.

The three major groups are as follows:

1. Alzheimer’s, which results from a range of inflammatory conditions,
such as: Imbalances in fatty acids
Sugar-damaged proteins
Prolonged exposure to infectious pathogens
Having the ApoE4 allele (Alzheimer’s gene)
Other stressors that cause chronic inflammation

2. Atrophic Alzheimer’s, which results from a loss of trophic or nutritional support.
Hormonal imbalances in the endocrine system
Insulin resistance
A lack of key nutrients
A loss of nerve growth factor

3. Toxic Alzheimer’s, which results from prolonged exposure to toxins,
including: Heavy metals (mercury or copper)
Biotoxins
Pesticides
Organic pollutants, such as mold

Given this new information on different types of Alzheimer’s and contributing factors, the Bredesen Protocol uses highly individualized treatments based on a patient’s specific needs or vulnerability to certain triggers, to produce improvements in brain functioning and even regeneration in the brain

What Does the Bredesen Protocol Entail?
Multiple tests are typically used to identify any factors that can be contributing to cognitive decline for a specific patient. From there, the treatments are highly
specific to the individual, and can include the following:

Specific nutrition regimens and diets, with a focus on a plant-based ketogenic diet.
Exercise programs, and especially aerobic and strength training.
Brain training to enhance the brain’s neuroplasticity.
Sleep regimens, which includes obtaining seven to eight hours per night and
testing for obstructive sleep apnea.
Hormones, if necessary.
Meditation and other stress-relief programs or treatments.

Health coaching to optimize your personalized program, and if needed, specific medications.
Simply put, with the Bredesen Protocol, treating Alzheimer’s and cognitive disease is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. We will identify your specific risks makes it easier to stop cognitive decline well before the first noticeable signs.

36 ‘Holes in the Roof’ The Dawn of the Era of Alzheimer’s Disease | Clinical Education
Relying on 40 years of work and research in medicine, Dr. Bredesen reveals that Alzheimer’s disease is not one condition, as it is currently treated, but three distinct conditions each impacting the brain differently. The End of Alzheimer’s outlines 36 metabolic factors (micronutrients, hormone levels, and sleep) that can trigger “downsizing” in the brain.

The protocol shows us how to rebalance these factors using lifestyle modifications like taking B12, eliminating gluten, or improving oral hygiene. The human body, by design, knows to regenerate cells, to remove toxins and with its inbuilt immune system, to fight disease and illness.

The results? Two years after its release, The End of Alzheimer’s, ReCODE, and the Bredesen Protocol continue to change lives, as evidenced by hundreds of testimonials.

Griner Pleads Help

What we know as Brittney Griner’s ‘mind-numbing’ trial resumes in Russia.

Brittney Griner writes letter to Biden from Russian prison (msn.com)
By DOUG FEINBERG, AP Basketball Writer

Brittney Griner has made an appeal to President Joe Biden in a letter passed to the
White House through her representatives saying she feared she might never return
home and asking that he not “forget about me and the other American Detainees.”
Griner’s agent Lindsay Kagawa Colas said the letter was delivered on Monday.
Most of the letter’s contents to President Biden remain private, though Griner’s
representatives also shared a few lines from the hand-written note.
″…As I sit here in a Russian prison, alone with my thoughts and without the
protection of my wife, family, friends, Olympic jersey, or any accomplishments,
I’m terrified I might be here forever,” Griner wrote.

“On the 4th of July, our family normally honors the service of those who fought for our freedom, including my father who is a Vietnam War Veteran,” the Phoenix Mercury center added. “It hurts thinking about how I usually celebrate this day because freedom means something completely different to me this year.”
The two-time Olympic gold medalist is in the midst of a trial in Russia
that began last week after she was arrested on Feb. 17 on charges of possessing cannabis oil while returning to play for her Russian team. Fewer than 1% of defendants in Russian criminal cases are acquitted, and unlike in U.S. courts, acquittals can be overturned.
The White House National Security Council confirmed the White House has received Griner’s letter.

Why was Britteny Griner Detained at the Russian Airport?
“We believe the Russian Federation is wrongfully detaining Brittney Griner,” NSC spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said on Monday. “President Biden has been clear about the need to see all U.S. nationals who are held hostage or wrongfully detained abroad released, including Brittney Griner.
The U.S. government continues to work aggressively – using every available means –
to bring her home.” Griner pleaded with Biden in the letter to use his powers to ensure
her return.

“Please do all you can to bring us home. I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted
for you. I believe in you. I still have so much good to do with my freedom that you can
help restore,” Griner said “I miss my wife! I miss my family! I miss my teammates!
It kills me to know they are suffering so much right now.
I am grateful for whatever you can do at this moment to get me home.”
Griner has been able to have sporadic communications with family, friends and WNBA players through an email account her agent set up. The emails are printed out and delivered in bunches to Griner by her lawyer after they are vetted by Russian officials. Once the lawyers get back to their office, they’ll scan any responses from Griner
and pass them back to the U.S. to send along.

WNBA: Brittney Griner pleads guilty to drug charge in Russia (yahoo.com)

She was supposed to have a phone call with her wife on their anniversary, but it failed because of an “unfortunate mistake,” Biden administration officials. Griner’s supporters have encouraged a prisoner swap like the one in April that brought home Marine veteran Trevor Reed in exchange for a Russian pilot convicted of drug trafficking conspiracy.
The State Department in May designated her as wrongfully detained, moving her case under the supervision of its special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, effectively the government’s chief hostage negotiator. Griner isn’t the only American being wrongfully detained in Russia.

Paul Whelan, a former Marine and security director is serving a 16-year sentence on
an espionage conviction. On December 28, 2018, Whelan was arrested in Moscow by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), which later confirmed his arrest.[15][16][17] Whelan’s twin brother David said Whelan arrived in Moscow on December 22 to
attend the wedding of a former fellow Marine at the Hotel Metropol Moscow and to assist the groom’s family members on their first visit to Russia, a country he had visited many times. He said his brother planned to return to Michigan on January 6, 2019, via Saint Petersburg.[18]
Per MBK News, an outlet run by Putin critic Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Whelan had $80,000 in cash “temporarily confiscated” during a customs inspection at Domodedovo Airport.[19] According to the New York Times, Whelan had acted as a local guide for the wedding guests, but had decided to spend the day of the wedding to meet a friend, per the account of other attendees.[20] David said his brother entered Russia using his U.S. passport.[4]
He said his brother had not been in contact with his family.

He was formally charged on January 3, 2019.[21]
According to the Russian News Agency Rosbalt, Whelan was apprehended in his hotel room at the Metropol while concluding a long outing with a Russian citizen, who handed him a USB drive containing “a list of all the employees at a classified security agency”.
The independent, regime-critical, Latvian-based publication Meduza reported that the wedding attendees all banded close together for the duration of the holiday and
were taken aback by Whelan’s decision to spend the day alone.[22]
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) cited family members of Whelan, who said Whelan previously bragged about knowing an agent of the FSB and was privy to an unusual cache of personal details about his friend, including which intelligence training school he attended (biographical information typically reserved for a very close circle).[23]
As Whelan said about the arrest, his long-time friend had appeared suddenly in the hotel, followed by authorities, who later arrested him.[24]

According to the lawyers, they could not provide the name of the Russian long-time friend (who planted a memory card in Whelan’s hotel room) due to Russian secrecy rules, but Whelan’s family identified the person as Ilya Yatsenko, whom the Russian newspaper Kommersant called as a major in the FSB’s Department “K” which monitors Russian economic crimes.[25]
Whelan was being held in Moscow’s Lefortovo Prison.[12][c] As of March 2019, he shared a cell with another prisoner who spoke no English.[27]
Former CIA officers have stated that the CIA would not recruit an officer with Whelan’s military record, nor leave an officer exposed without a diplomatic passport.[12] They further claim that Whelan’s arrest is connected to tensions between Russia and the United States, including the detention of confessed unregistered foreign agent Maria Butina.[28][29] On December 20, 2018, when discussing Butina’s arrest, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia “will not arrest innocent people simply to exchange them”.[1]

U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman Jr. met with Whelan on January 2,, 2019 while Whelan was in Russian custody.[30] He told Whelan’s family that Paul was “in good health and good spirits”, but that the family needed to supply all his incidental needs aside from basic foodstuffs.[4][d] U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said: “We’ve made clear to the Russians our expectation that we will learn more about the charges, come to understand what it is he’s been accused of and if the detention is not appropriate, we will demand his immediate return.”[31] On January 4, 2019 British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: “We don’t agree with individuals being used in diplomatic chess games…
We are all extremely worried about him and his family.”[21] .[32]

On January 3, 2019, Whelan’s attorney, Vladimir Zherebenko,[e] said he was seeking his release on bail. He said a trial would not begin for at least six months, and that he would welcome an exchange of Whelan for Butina.[34] He said: “I presume that he is innocent because, for now, I haven’t seen any evidence against him that would prove otherwise.”[12] More than a fortnight later, Zherebenkov said Whelan had been unaware of the contents of the USB stick and believed it contained material solely of personal value such as “photographs, videos, anything at all, about his previous holiday in Russia.”[35]

On January 5, 2019, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that on the day after Whelan’s arrest the United States had detained a Russian citizen, Dmitry Makarenko, in the Northern Marianas and transported him to Florida to face charges of unauthorized export of defense equipment.[36][f]

Conviction and sentencing
On June 15, 2020, Whelan was convicted and sentenced to 16 years in a Russian prison for espionage by a court in Moscow.[37][38] His lawyers said they believed Russia would now seek a prisoner swap. Whelan said in court that all the case was a sham to use him to influence the United States: “We have proven my innocence… we have proven fabrication. This is slimy, greasy corrupt Russian politics, nothing more, nothing less.”[25][39]
Family members said Whelan had been told he had been arrested to be exchanged for a Russian prisoner in the United States, mentioning Konstantin Yaroshenko (who was released in return for American Trevor Reed), Viktor Bout, or Roman Seleznev.[40]
Whelan initially held at the Correctional Colony No. 18 under supervision of the Russian Federation’s Federal Penitentiary Service.[41] He is currently held in a high-security prison, IK-17, eight hours drive southeast of Moscow.[42]

Search Results for Cannabis Oil | Cancer Quick Facts (solitarius.org)

Watch the show “Locked up abroad” a few episodes and believe me you will be a lot more careful in your travels to other countries! Some people got life sentences for crimes that are misdemeanors here.

It’s a simple thing here.

She broke the law believing her minor celebrity status would make her exempt from laws in other countries, and she found out otherwise. Now she may well and should have to pay the price like anyone else. What makes her so special?

She isn’t “wrongfully imprisoned” as the American media likes to keep harping on. Brittney told the court, IT’S NOT UNLAWFUL DETENTION “I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law,” Griner said in court.

She deserves to be right where she is as she violated Russia’s laws. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.  Do not take her plea at face value. May be true or may simply be a tactic to obtain her release. Note that even in the US, when charged with a federal offense sentencing guidelines are different depending on whether you plead guilty. It is not uncommon for an innocent person to plead guilty to obtain probation rather than pleading not guilty and face possible jail time.

First, everyone gives their two cents as far as the “law” goes. This is Russian law. It has a whole different rule book. The rights of defendants are very different as compared to American laws. So are the laws themselves. The other part of her problem is Biden writing letters demanding her release. Right now, most people (I would dare say that includes even us here in the U.S.) disregard anything Biden wishes to do. Griner would have been better off if Biden had not sent a letter that is going to be used as comic relief by Putin and the Russian courts. My heart goes out to Griner, but with Biden in office as our president and Putin seeing the U.S. as enemy No. 1, she has very low odds.

Griner hates her own country, but now she’s begging for help from the country she hates: “I honestly feel we should not play the national anthem during our season,” Griner said, per The Arizona Republic. “I think we should take that much of a stand.” “I’m going to protest regardless,” she said. “I’m not going to be out there for the national anthem.

If the league continues to want to play it, that’s fine. It will be all season long; I’ll not be out there. I feel like more are going to probably do the same thing. I can only speak for myself.” She knew that it was against the law, but she did it anyway! She forgot she packed it!

Really and WHY is it more important to get her out then others who have been there much longer than she. I say she did the crime she needs to do the time! Such a political game is being played, literally makes me even more upset about what this country is all about.

Rumor has it that she will be released on August 23rd, she will have cleared the courts and may continue to earn money and play ball there. The Biden administration will attempt to take credit. This is not true it is how the system works. I also heard another rumor that if her apology is insincere and she does not take full responsibility and show remorse it may be 6 months beyond the 23rd. The constitution is very specific and may not be used politically. She must separate from the Rood embassy and they need to stop using the words falsely detained.

Britney is being truthful, so the government and the media need to follow. Simple possession for personal use and the crossing the border charge dropped, 6 months including time served. Thank You for coming clean Brittney and shame on you Embassy for having an agenda beyond her rights as an individual.

Note: she may have to attend a 30-day drug addiction program as a condition of release and may start immediately after the 14th hearing date.  We take our freedom for granted. We comfortably come and go with ease as we please. I can believe she accidentally packed it. This isn’t her first time traveling abroad. So many people pack guns by accident and go through airport checkpoints. It was probably there from a previous trip and she didn’t change bags or take them out. It happens. She has no previous criminal record. So, I can see this happening. At least she was honest about admitting it was there.

That says a lot because she knows what she’s up against.

The United States government deemed Griner “wrongfully detained” by the Russian government”. This is the issue folks. we act like the policeman of the world bases in over 100 countries. A person pleads guilty in another country we still say illegally detained. How arrogant can we be? And this is why she is being treated the way she is treated.

Trust me she has influence even in Russia. The owner of the team in Russia I am sure has a voice and even that does no good if the U.S. state dept calls it illegal. Meanwhile, there are tons of Americans stuck in Afghanistan who didn’t break any laws but Joey can’t make a special phone call for them! This is such a non-issue, you break another countries law, you plead guilty, and do the time then come home.

An average American citizen would not get this special treatment and calls from the “president” and petitions and rallies from the media, we would just get a few years in a Russian prison and if we survived, we would come home.  Your community Guidelines are designed to avoid comments that are MEANT to offend actions that are specifically personalized for the bad behavior of people. Washington should keep their nose out of this!

She chose to go there. She chose to take drugs with her.

You may not respect the laws in this country, but it is another country, and they actually enforce their laws. This is on her and only her. So, she breaks another country’s laws, and they are unlawfully detaining her? She took illegal substances to another country and got caught. Did she think that because she plays basketball she is above the law? What is next, oh wait the race card has already been played. Famous saying…DON’T DO THE CRIME IF YOU CAN’T DO THE TIME.
