The Etheric Body

Etheric Body: The Lowest Layer in the Human Energy Field
Post author:PsyMinds

The etheric body, ether-body, æther body, a name given by neo-Theosophy to a vital
body or subtle body propounded in esoteric philosophies as the first or lowest layer in the “human energy field” or aura. The etheric body is said to be in immediate contact with the physical body, to sustain it and connect it with “higher” bodies.

The English term “etheric” in this context seems to derive from the Theosophical writings of Madame Blavatsky, but its use was formalized by C.W. Leadbeater and Annie Besant  due to the elimination of Hindu terminology from the system of seven planes and bodies. (Adyar School of Theosophy).

The term gained some general popularity after the 1914-18 war, Walter John Kilner having adopted it for a layer of the “human atmosphere” which, as he claimed in a popular book, could be rendered visible to the naked eye by means of certain exercises. The classical element Aether of Platonic and Aristotelian physics continued in Victorian scientific proposals of a Luminiferous ether as well as the cognate chemical substance ether.

According to Theosophists and Alice Bailey, the etheric body inhabits an etheric
plane which corresponds to the four higher subplanes of the physical plane.
The intended reference is therefore to some extremely rarefied matter,
analogous in usage to the word “spirit” (originally “breath”).

In selecting it as the term for a clearly defined concept in an Indian-derived metaphysical system, the Theosophists aligned it with ideas such as the prana-maya-kosha (sheath made of prana, subtle breath or life-force) of Vedantic thought.

In popular use it is often confused with the related concept of the astral body
as for example in the term astral projection – the early Theosophists had called
it the “astral double“. Others prefer to speak of the “lower and higher astral“.

Linga sarira is a Sanskrit term for the invisible double of the human body, the etheric body, or etheric double. It is one of the seven principles of the human being, according
to Theosophical philosophy.

Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy, often referred to the etheric body (Ätherleib or “Life Body”) in association with the etheric formative forces and the evolution of man and the cosmos.

According to him, it can be perceived by a person gifted with clairvoyance as being
of “peach-blossom color“. Steiner considered the etheric reality or life principle as quite distinct from the physical material reality, being intermediate between the physical world and the astral or soul world.

The etheric body can be characterized as the life force also present in the plant kingdom.
It maintains the physical body’s form until death. At that time, it separates from the physical body, and the physical reverts to natural disintegration.

According to Max Heindel’s Rosicrucian writings, the etheric body, composed of four ethers, is called the “Vital Body” since the ether is the way of ingress for the vital force from the Sun and the field of agencies in nature which promote such vital activities as assimilation, growth, and propagation.
It is an exact counterpart of our physical body, molecule for molecule, and organ for organ, but it is of the opposite polarity. It is slightly larger, extending about one and one-half inches beyond the periphery of the physical body.

Samael Aun Weor teaches that the vital body is the tetra-dimensional
part of the physical body and the foundation of organic life.
He states that in the second Initiation of Fire, which is reached through working with sexual magic with a spouse, the Kundalini rises in the vital body.
Then the initiate learns how to separate the two superior ethers from the others in order for them to serve as a vehicle to travel out of the physical body.

Beings that possess only etheric bodies.
In the teachings of Theosophy, Devas are regarded as living either in the atmospheres of the planets of the solar system (Planetary Angels) or inside the Sun (Solar Angels) and they help to guide the operation of the processes of nature such as the process of evolution and the growth of plants; their appearance is reputedly like colored flames about the size of a human being.

It is believed by Theosophists that devas can be observed when the third eye is activated. Some (but not most) devas originally incarnated as human beings. Also, it is believed by Theosophists that nature spirits, elementals (gnomes, undines, sylphs, and salamanders), and fairies can also be observed when the third eye is activated.

It is maintained by Theosophists that these less evolutionarily developed beings have never been previously incarnated as human beings; they are regarded as on a separate line of spiritual evolution called the “deva evolution”; eventually, as their souls advance as they reincarnate, it is believed they will incarnate as devas.

It is asserted by Theosophists that all of the above-mentioned beings possess etheric bodies (but no physical bodies) that are composed of etheric matter, a type of matter finer and purer that is composed of smaller particles than ordinary physical plane matter. Your etheric body plays an important role in how you feel and how you think.
Your physical wellbeing and mental health are closely connected, and both rely
heavily on the health and strength of your etheric body.

If it is weakened, then you probably aren’t feeling so great either.
Spending a little time taking care of your etheric body by clearing
and strengthening it could make a lifetime of difference.

What Is an Etheric Body?
An aura is an electromagnetic energy field that surrounds us all.
From humans to animals and even objects, everything has an aura of some sort.
The aura is what gives us that “vibe” we get from other people.
When, without getting to know someone first, you just have “a feeling”
about them, you’re actually reading their aura.
Some people, animals or things could have a negative aura or a positive aura. If you’re tuned into noticing it, you’re the type of person who can get a good feel for someone’s personality from just one conversation.

Layers of The Aura
Every aura is made up of 7 layers, each one with its own purpose and impact.
The innermost layer is your physical body and less than an inch outside of it is the etheric layer, the densest layer. Following the etheric layer is the emotional layer, mental layer, spiritual or etheric temple layer, the celestial body and finally the etheric body. These layers are also known as the subtle bodies and each one is connected to a corresponding chakra.

The etheric body is the physical plane of the aura.
Due to its close proximity, it is deeply connected to your physical body. It has ties to your physical health, all your bodily sensations, including pain and pleasure. It is linked with the root chakra, which among other things, is associated with our basic human needs.
The etheric body is considered to be responsible for sensations of hot and cold, and even hunger and thirst. Our physical bodies and etheric bodies are so closely connected that sometimes the etheric body is called a metaphysical twin.
Some spiritualists believe that each part of the physical body has an equal replica within the etheric layer, including all of the organs. Even if one is removed, the etheric version still exists to protect us.

The 5 senses are also the responsibility of the etheric body. It is the medium through which we experience the world. It receives the energies of the world around us and this affects our own energy.

The etheric body delivers energy to your physical body, be it positive or negative. Similarly, the physical body’s experiences affect your etheric body and the kind of energy it provides. The relationship is cyclical, if you do not take care of one, the other will suffer too, and the cycle will continue.

The emotional and mental layers are connected to the etheric layer too. This gives more meaning to the theory that our emotions and mental health deeply impact how our bodies feel.

Clearing the Etheric Body
Sometimes, the etheric body can become blocked and its functions will suffer for it. The connection between the etheric and the physical bodies is so deep that these blockages can heavily impact how we feel, some even suggest that our health is at risk.
If you haven’t been maintaining and improving your etheric body, then you might need to consider clearing before you can move on. Blockages can be caused by anything that would typically harm the physical body. This could include a poor diet, lack of sleep, poor air quality and of course, stress.
A lack of exercise will also lead to blockages as exercise is considered to be energetically cleansing.
Blockages can also be caused by the kind of energy your etheric body takes in. If you spend time in negative places with negative people, you’re going to pick that up too. Anxious thoughts have very low vibrations. The lower the vibration, the more blocking it is.

You can clear your etheric body by detoxing from the typical challenges
to your physical health but be aware that a detox can lead to mental stress.

The best ways to clear your etheric body involve meditation and full-body scans.
Whilst you meditate, take each body part in turn and visualize letting go of negativity.
You can also visualize your aura becoming clearer.

Strengthening the Etheric Body
A strong etheric body is better able to withstand negative influences and remain positive. When your etheric layer is strong, your physical body is too. Just like strengthening the physical body, the best way to add strength to the etheric body is to stay on top of your health.

Make sure your diet is varied and healthy. Exercise regularly, in a way that makes you happy. Breathe fresh air. Most importantly, make sure your anxieties and stress are under control. If anxiety is the lowest liberating influence, you want as little of it as possible (easier said than done!).

Strengthen your etheric layer by accessing all sorts of natural energies.
Energy from nature is naturally strengthening and the more different kinds of energy you expose your etheric body to, the better prepared it’ll be to protect you. Your etheric body is valuable and should be cared for, just as it cares for you. Consider it a protective cushion that surrounds you. Build it strong, and it will keep you safe.

Sovereignty As Such

Affirmation: every experience in my life is supporting me with lessons that guide me.

✨  ” It is what it is.. Unless it isn’t ” you ever notice how…   ✨

Have you ever noticed?

you are always exactly where you are meant to be, at exactly the perfect time-

to encounter all the experiences that are leading you towards everything you desire.

🦋 All you’ve got to do is show up, listen, observe and enjoy. ✨

There are a lot of things we can’t change in this world, things that are out of our control,

But there are SO many things that we can change, things that ARE in our control.

When you can’t change a situation, or a circumstance, what you can change is the way that it affects you, what you can change is your perspective. This is where your true power lies, in your Sovereignty, in your ability to choose what you will allow to affect you.

Life is about the ceremony 🌹

— when you embody the awareness of your divinity in all that you do.

your existence is the literal embodiment of spirit in ceremony with Pachamama –

our planet Earth. 🌎 Life does not have to become mundane, unless you let it.
EVERYTHING around you is a wonder of divine magnificence, when you look through eyes of gratitude & excitement to be alive in this human experience.

You get to choose how you show up,
you get to choose what you invest your energy into,
you get to choose what can take away your energy,
and you get to choose what you create within your mind, and your life.

It may not always feel like it, but every thought, every word, every action is our choice,
and you can change anything in your life at any time you choose.

That doesn’t mean it will be easy, but neither is living a life that drains you.

image.png
Your greatest gift to this world is your Dharma.

This unique gift that only you can share lies in taking all of your experiences,
influences and inspirations and sharing them in YOUR own voice.

We could all receive the same experience in the same way, and come out with a different
lesson & way of sharing it with the world.

You never know what sorts of seeds are planted with the words you share,

and just how much they impact others. 🌱

Oftentimes they leave a bigger impact than we realize.

“Dharma” means your unique purpose in this world, which comes naturally
through living & embodying your truth in action.

Share it, trust it, and believe in it. 💫

What are you choosing?

It’s not always about things being perfect, or going exactly how you want them to.

Of course sometimes we want things to be this way..

But sometimes it’s just about allowing things to happen the way they do,

And finding the grace in surrendering to the way it is. 🙏🏼

Something I say quite often in my classes is that: “It doesn’t have to be forced, to be effective.” Meaning that you don’t have to force the pose to look a certain way, in order to receive the benefits. And you don’t have to force things to go a certain way in life, in order to find beauty or joy. 🪷

As a person who very much likes things to go how I want & plan them to –
I run into the obstacle of being rigid when things don’t go as planned, or
when circumstances out of my control take over the way things take place.

And as always, life gives us all the opportunities to face our obstacles &
challenges to find the grace, the growth within our limitations.

So after a few frustrating experiences in the last few days of my travels,
I’m setting my intention to practice grace, allowance, & surrender to the
things I can’t control. Along with this, forgiving & allowing that same grace
to myself when I don’t show up perfectly.

Because it’s not about being perfect, it’s about feeling good. 💫

I always aim to share authentically & be real that my life isn’t perfect.
It’s this imperfect human experience that allows me to connect with you all from the knowing that we’re all human, and as different as it may feel we are, most all of us share the same sorts of challenges.

When we show up authentically, we give one another permission to do the same – and
this is where some of the deepest healing begins, when we realize how unified we all are,

and that we are not alone. ❤️

This aspect of community is a huge aspect of what I aim to cultivate through offerings – intimate connection within the community that brings about healing & growth.

If you’re feeling the call for deeper connection, join me in @botanicbodyoga

Forever cherishing the community connections that show us
that we are NEVER alone. ❤️🙏🏼

You are not your emotions.

You are a human being, experiencing the beautiful, wonderful, and
divinely innate guidance system & internal compass that lives within you.

When we step back and allow ourselves to listen & be guided by this internal compass,
we step into alignment with our true nature – our Dharma – or in my interpretation,

our Botanic Body. 🌿

And what a blessing, to hold this magnificent guidance system that will

ALWAYS lead us in the direction of our truth. 🙏🏼✨

This year I learned how to say no. 🌹

This year I learned how to choose myself.

It sounds pretty simple in logistics right?

But I’ll encourage you to seriously ask yourself:

Can you unconditionally choose what’s going to be best for you in any given moment-

Even when there are forces asking you to do the opposite?

Even if it feels uncomfortable to say no?

Even If, by you saying no, it strikes a reaction or a let down of someone else’s wants?

🔻 Whether you’re a woman finding yourself in a position with a man who’s trying to push things a little bit faster than you’re comfortable with – OR vice versa – hey we’ve all been there.

🔻 Or finding yourself in a situation that doesn’t feel aligned with your values in a work or social setting

🔻 Or feeling the need to cancel on plans you’d made a week ago because you are exhausted, and your body is asking you for rest instead

I’m sure all of you have found yourself in circumstances where there’s pressure applied by family, or friends to show up in a certain way, or perform certain duties that are just not in alignment with what you actually need, or are capable of providing.

Am I right?
🔹 And how do you feel when you force yourself to show up or to do something that is not in alignment with what you need to feel nourished and at peace in that moment?

Pretty shitty right? Drained? Exhausted? Overwhelmed?

🔹 But how do you feel when you say no to the things
that are not aligned with your needs, your priorities, your wants?

Pretty damn liberating, right? ✨

This is where our power to BE the creator of our lives is.
In the Sovereignty of saying no to what we don’t want.

No to overextending yourself ~
No to being uncomfortable ….
And choose what feels right for you instead.

🌹 So I’ll ask again : Are you willing to choose you, to choose what will nourish you, and give yourself what you need in any given moment-

Even if the rest of the world is asking you to do something else?

And is choosing your peace worth causing some waves, to say no when you want to say no?

🌹 Are you willing to choose you, even when the rest of the world is asking you to choose everything else instead?

People That Beat the Odds

mikaelashiffrin Still trying to let it sink in… but it’s still just not haha.

Something in my brain must be broken because processing these things just doesn’t
seem to happen, especially now being medal twins with @akilde after his unbelievable

race yesterday!!🤪🥈

Congratulations again to @martabassino @connyhuetter and @kajsalie!
And best of luck to all of the women racing downhill on Saturday!

I’ll see you again for GS and SL🥰

World Championships and World Cups, Mikaela Shiffrin Keeps Making Her Mark
A silver medal in super-G gave Shiffrin her 12th career medal at the world Alpine skiing championships and made her the first woman in the modern era to accumulate that many.

Mikaela Shiffrin, a 27-year-old American, has been making headlines on the slopes
since she was in her early teens. It’s becoming difficult to keep track of all the records
Mikaela Shiffrin is breaking.

She finished second in her race on Wednesday, capturing a silver medal at the Alpine world championships in France in the super-G, which is probably her fourth best of the five Alpine disciplines.

No matter. Another day, another mountain, another race, and some more records for Shiffrin, the 27-year-old American who has been making headlines on the slopes since
she was in her early teens.

“I’ve kind of accomplished every wish I’ve ever had in terms of world championships
and medals,” Shiffrin said over the weekend, before the racing started.

With her silver medal Wednesday, Shiffrin’s success at the biggest skiing meet
outside the Olympics is moving into rarefied territory.

The world championships are a biennial Olympic-style ski meet, and skiers covet
its medals as much as anything in the sport short of Olympic hardware.

The whole purpose of the world championships, she said, is to ski as hard as possible
and to “go for gold.” She added, “At the end of the day, you hope it’s good enough
to win a medal.”

Winners Dig deeper into the moment —
With Shiffrin, it usually is her time to shine.

So what exactly happened Wednesday?
Shiffrin finished second in the second women’s race on the schedule
at the Alpine world championships in Méribel, France.

Shiffrin is usually pretty effusive when she wins a ski race, but never more so than
when she reaches the podium in super-G, a speed event that has significantly more twists and turns than the downhill and allows her to bring her talents as a technical skier who specializes in slalom racing to steeper terrain.

When Shiffrin gets onto the podium on super-G, she generally describes
how fun it was to ski the racecourse, and Wednesday was no different.

“I’m so happy with my run, and emotional, because I don’t really feel like I should be winning a medal in super-G right now,” she said after the race. “There are so many women so strong and so fast. There was one moment where I thought I lost everything, but then
I could keep it rolling until the finish.”

Indeed, Shiffrin was ahead of the eventual winner, Marta Bassino of Italy, at the second split, but had to battle through the tough, more technical, second part of the course.
She finished 11-hundredths of a second behind Bassino.

The silver medal was Shiffrin’s 12th career medal at the world championships.
She is the first woman in the modern era to accumulate that many individual world championship medals. She won her first a decade ago in Austria when she was 17.
It was her 12th medal in just 15 starts at the world championships.

How does this play into her pursuit of other records?
In January, Shiffrin broke Lindsey Vonn’s record for the most World Cup wins by a female skier, capturing her 83rd victory on Alpine skiing’s top circuit. Then she won two more races in quick succession, putting her one short of Ingemar Stenmark’s overall record. – Bing video

But the skiing calendar put the pursuit of Stenmark on hold until March. For the next
two weeks, Shiffrin and other top skiers are competing in the world championships.

World championship races are separate from the World Cup races,
which are the regular tour stops that take place throughout the winter across North America, Europe and sometimes Asia. The World Cup determines the best overall skier across all events and the best skier in each discipline.

Winners receive crystal globes. Shiffrin has a lot of those — 13 so far, with more on the way at the end of this season. “It’s been such an insane, amazing season,” she said Monday, when things were not so amazing.

How are the world championships going so far?
Shiffrin got off to a rough start. In the first event, the Alpine combined, which includes one run of super-G followed by one run of slalom, Shiffrin appeared to be headed for a come-from-behind win at the bottom of the slalom hill.

Shiffrin had skied the sixth-fastest super-G run, but that left her 96-hundredths of
a second behind the leader, Federica Brignone of Italy, forcing her to ski aggressively
during a high-risk, high-reward slalom. She made up time at each split, and the computer simulations projected her taking a lead by as much as three-10ths of a second.

But as she tried to navigate over a rough patch of snow about five gates from the finish, Shiffrin lost her balance and ended up straddling one of the next gates. That disqualified her from the competition. She said Wednesday that she learned in the combine that she was going to have to ski aggressively from the start in the super-G if she wanted to have
a chance at the podium.

Mikaela Shiffrin in a blue helmet leans into her descent during a ski race.

The bobble had echoes of the series of slips and skids during the Beijing Olympics
last year, when Shiffrin failed to finish three individual events and was far off the podium in two others.

Shiffrin knew the questions would be coming.

“I was thinking I was going to go through the mixed zone and everyone is going to ask if this is Beijing again,” she said, but that was the price she knew she might have to pay for the “full-gas skiing” that taking the lead was going to require.

“I’m not afraid of the consequences,” she said.

What’s next?

The downhill is scheduled for Saturday, but Shiffrin has a love-sort-of-hate relationship with the event and won’t race. She has three 1st-place finishes in her career in World Cup downhill races, but she has never won a medal in the Olympics or the world championships in the event.

Next week brings the slalom and giant slalom races, the events that Shiffrin dominates. Fifty-two of her 85 World Cup victories have come in slalom, with giant slalom accounting for another 19 wins. Shiffrin said that until that slip on Monday she was feeling very good about her slalom skiing. It was aggressive and fearless, and the only thing she did not do was cross the finish line.

A male skier with arms stretched descends
a hill during a super-G race.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde during a super-G race at
the world championships in Courchevel, France, on Tuesday.

What else deserves attention?
The men’s downhill, scheduled for Sunday, usually has plenty of fireworks.
The favorite is Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway, who happens to also be
Shiffrin’s boyfriend.

Even though they have the same job, Kilde and Shiffrin don’t see each other all that much because the men and women rarely race on the same mountain at the same time. Usually that changes with the world championships, but this year the women are in Méribel and the men are in Courchevel, about 35 minutes away.

Shiffrin said that skiing’s first couple got in a little quality time before the world championships but that racing was their focus for the next two weeks. Kilde’s biggest competition could come from Marco Odermatt of Switzerland. Odermatt is third in the season rankings in downhill but first in super-G and third in giant slalom.

Sage Watson

Sage Watson for those who have followed my journey and supported me,

Thank you.  🤍
I have been searching for years and this week I finally found out what has been going on.
I share this here because it’s only fair that I show the lows because I have shown all the highs of my career. It turns out I have 3 abdominal tears ( 2 in the left rectus abdominis and one in the left oblique) along with a tear in the rectus abdominis connection to the bone and an old tear to the adductor connection and old abdominal tear that have since healed.

Pushing through pain is never a good idea but I have been pushing through it since winter of 2021 before the last Olympics. Every doctor I had gone to had not been able to find any serious issues so I would rest until the swelling or issue went down and then get back on the track. It’s been frustrating to have constant setbacks with no real answers.
I am so grateful to have finally found the answer, now I’m on another recovery journey

but I’m so excited to get back to hurdling and running without pain!🙏🏻

Sage Watson’s coach calls her ‘ranch tough.’
The Canadian will have to overcome an injury hurdle at Tokyo Olympics Canadian automatically advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals in the 400-metre hurdles by finishing fourth in her opening heat. By Dave FeschukSports Columnist

TOKYO—It wasn’t long into Fred Harvey’s time coaching Canadian Olympian Sage Watson that she confirmed to him she possessed the mentality to be a great hurdler.
Harvey, the track and field coach at the University of Arizona, can tell you plenty of triumphant stories of Watson’s time in the program —
tales of the NCAA Division I championship she won in the 400-metre hurdles in 2017, and the myriad school records Watson broke en route. But never mind any of that. When Harvey wants to illustrate the qualities that separate Watson from athletes of comparable talent, he casts back to an evening training session in which the runner and her teammates were distracted by insect activity near the track.

“There is this ant carrying this beetle across the ground.
The beetle is dying, but it’s not dead yet. And Sage sees it, and she goes over and she steps on the thing,” Harvey said. “And the other girls are like, ‘Wow. What are you doing?’ And Sage says, ‘You’ve got to put it out of its misery. It’s going to be eaten alive.’ That’s her mentality. She is ranch tough.”

Sage is Ranch tough.
Harvey is referring, of course, to Watson’s upbringing up on the family cattle ranch near Medicine Hat, Alta., the base to which she retreated when the Olympics were postponed on account of COVID last year and Watson — who would end up spending five months with her family after most of eight years travelling the world as a track star — needed a safe place to continue to train. Rather than lament her lot in life, she relished the time spent with parents Wade and Jolene and younger brother Waylan. She kept up her strength in a weight room in a barn and honed her speed on the gravel road
where she first fell in love with running.

“I tell people about that story about the beetle, and they say, ‘Whoa. That’s kind of morbid,’” Harvey said. “And I say, ‘Well, no it’s not.’ If you think about when you grow up on a ranch and some of the things you need to do to survive and have your ranch continue to thrive, they’re things most people can’t do — they won’t do — and when you take that mentality into a hurdles race. The natural talent you have is one thing; a lot of people have the talent. A lot fewer people have the mentality to deal with the stresses and the pain that come at the back end of the race.”

It was the stress and the pain of the back end of Saturday’s heats of the 400-metre hurdles that nearly undid Watson. While she finished 11th in the event at the 2016 Rio Olympics — and while Harvey is of the belief that, at age 27, Watson has a couple of Olympics in her beyond this one, so long as she’s enjoying the craft — her expectations coming into Tokyo have been at least somewhat adjusted by injury.

Watson strained her lower back in June, a malady Harvey said probably never would have happened if not for an improvised training environment and reduced access to sports-medicine personnel on account of COVID restrictions. Watson knew she was in trouble when she attempted to haul the water jug she brings to training — which weighs in the range of 50 pounds — and couldn’t lift the thing.

“That was a really dark time, knowing I was less than two months away from this race today and I couldn’t even lift 50 pounds,” Watson said. “People don’t see those moments with athletes and Olympians, where you can’t even lift a water jug because you hurt yourself training or competing. I know the calendar. The time’s always ticking, the pressure’s always on.”

If there’ve been times in the lead-up to the Games when it’s felt like there was a piano strapped to her back, some of that weight was removed Saturday when Watson finished fourth in her opening heat to automatically advance to Tuesday’s semifinals.

The race wasn’t her best, she acknowledged, as evidenced by the left knee bloodied by contact with the eighth of 10 hurdles. But given her event is as stacked as it’s ever been — headlined by 21-year-old American Sydney McLaughlin, who set the world record of 51.90 at last month’s U.S. Olympic trials — the advancement wasn’t exactly a given for Watson. In an era in which six athletes other than McLaughlin broke the formidable 54-second mark this year, Watson’s personal best is 54.32. Getting to the final, in other words, will likely require her to better that mark.

Having just watched her heat from Tucson, Ariz., Harvey offered a theory on how she might. “What threw her off, quite frankly, was her lack of confidence in herself,” the coach said. “Coming from the seventh hurdle to the eighth hurdle, she did exactly what she thought she could do, but she didn’t trust it. Consequently, she kind of backed off the eighth hurdle, hit the hurdle and lost a lot of momentum.”

Watson is also slated to compete here as a member of Canada’s 4×400-metre relay team, which finished fourth at the 2016 Olympics. If Watson is happy to take input from the likes of Harvey, who was with Watson at the Rio Games but couldn’t make the trip here, she said she has logged off social media for the duration of the Games to avoid what she calls “couch coaches.” Though Watson is a bit of a star on TikTok, where she commands some 137,000 followers, she said she’s become exasperated by the unsolicited advice of armchair experts.

“I’ll never forget. One time a guy in Rio, I was going to the semifinals and he said,
‘You need to use your arms less when you run.’ And … being young, I was like, ‘Wait.
Do I use my arms too much?’ ”Watson said. “You start to question yourself …
So just for my sake I stay off of it.” Speaking of coaching, Watson spent part of the pandemic working as a volunteer coach with university-level athletes. If she’s nobody’s couch coach, Harvey will tell you she’s a real one. Ranch tough, indeed.

“That young lady, you look at her and she has blonde hair and you might think, ‘She’s so meek.’ No, no,” Harvey said. “Sage will let you know. If you ask her a question, you should make sure you want to know the answer. She’s going to give you exactly what she thinks.”

This week, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh tried — and failed — to convene an emergency House of Commons debate on the privatization of Canadian health care.

As the Ontario government of Premier Doug Ford debuted a plan to outsource more health procedures to for-profit clinics, Singh warned that it would serve only to cannibalize the public system. “Health care is already dramatically understaffed, and for-profit facilities will poach doctors and nurses,” said Singh.

It’s a point on which Singh is probably correct – although he likely disagrees with the remedy. While Canadians are increasingly warm to the idea of private options to alleviate a worsening crisis of health-care wait times, it won’t do much unless Canada can also break its onerous controls on health-care supply. At the same time as politicians of all stripes condemn the country’s worsening doctor shortage, it is government policy to keep that shortage in place.

Canada maintains top-down limits on the number of students entering medical school each year. Provinces are also notoriously obstinate about approving foreign credentials in order to avoid overwhelming health-care budgets. Until that system can be liberalized, any government contracts with for-profit providers will just be drawing from the same artificially small pool of clinics and physicians. Canada stands alone among developed nations in maintaining an outright ban on private health insurance for anything covered by the Canada Health Act.

This is why Canadians can purchase insurance to cover emergency dental surgery,
but if they get cancer they’re restricted either to getting in line – or paying cash in a U.S. hospital. None of our peer countries do this. Two-tier systems are the norm everywhere from Japan to Belgium to the U.K. In Australia, an expectant mother can deliver her baby for free in a no-frills public hospital. Or, if she’s got a good health insurance plan, she could opt for premium birthing care at a private hospital. In Canada, only the public option is legal.

These wide scale limits on private health insurance are why Canada is particularly uptight about certifying a doctor or greenlighting a clinic, because the assumption is that the public system will have to pay for it. The most obvious effect of this approach is that Canada maintains a quota system on how many students are allowed to enroll at the country’s 17 medical schools. A recent RBC analysis called the quota system a “choke point” that “limits student admissions to just under 3,000 spots for prospective doctors each year.”

Each year, provincial health departments calculate how many doctors they’ll be able to afford, and then set med school admissions on that figure. In 2018, for instance, the Government of Quebec cut medical school admissions after they determined that “too many” medical students were graduating. Basically no other profession works this way. Provinces don’t really care how many lawyers or auto mechanics their schools are producing each year, since it’s not the government’s job to find them work.

But an oncologist can only realistically expect to find employment through the government, which then prompts the government to only train as many on hand as they can afford. A detailed “quota allocation” published by the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine shows how the system works. For the 2020 scholastic year, the school was only allowed to train eight cardiologists, four endocrinologists and a single clinical pharmacist.

The school also had to scale back its number of graduating family doctors,
with one fewer allocation in the realm of “family medicine” than the year before.
It’s in part due to these quotas that in 2011 the Fraser Institute accurately forecast that Canada’s doctor shortage was poised to get exponentially worse. “Even if government imposed restrictions on the number of doctors being trained in Canada are immediately removed, it won’t have an impact for much of the next decade given the time it takes to train a new doctor,” they wrote at the time.

The import of foreign-trained doctors has been singularly responsible for stopping the physician shortage from becoming an even worse catastrophe, but even then, Canada’s culture of top-down control of the health care supply has sharply limited foreign recruitment. Canada is notorious for maintaining unusually onerous requirements to certify foreign doctors, with the result that the country is home to more than 13,000 internationally trained doctors who are not able to work as physicians.

At the same time, government quotas on medical residencies have been instrumental at scaring away even Canadians who have obtained medical training abroad. “The messaging for so long has been that it’s nearly impossible to get a bloody residency in Canada if you’re an international graduate,” reads a recent quote in the Globe and Mail by Peter Nealon, CEO of the Atlantic Bridge Program, a group that slots North Americans into Irish medical schools. “You tell people to go away long enough, and eventually, they go away.”

US vs Canadian Healthcare: What Are the Differences? | AIMS Education
The 2 countries’ health care systems are very different-Canada has a single-payer, mostly publicly-funded system, while the U.S. has a multi-payer, heavily private system-but the countries appear to be culturally similar, suggesting that it might be possible for the U.S. to adopt the Canadian system.
Regardless of how health care insurance is funded, consumers in both the US and Canada have concerns about which health care services are covered
under their respective health care systems. Because of differences in how the systems are funded, consumers in each country end up having different access
to types of health care services.

How much does it cost to become a medical Doctor in Canada?
It typically costs around $200,000 to obtain a professional medical degree in Canada. However, the cost of medical school can vary depending on the program and school you choose to attend and the government pays for it. Whereas in the United States Over four years—which includes class time, lab hours and clinical experience—the median total cost of attendance was $255,517 to $337,584 for the Class of 2020

Strong Faith and Your Health

1 Corinthians 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and
all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love,
I am nothing.

Creating a relationship with a supernatural other takes effort that can lead to meaningful change, says Stanford anthropologist Tanya Luhrmann. People who believe their God or gods are real, even if the existence of those supernatural beings can’t be empirically proven, have long fascinated and confounded scientists.
In her book., Stanford anthropologist Tanya Luhrmann explores the intersection of religion and science, linking profound religious faith to beneficial, scientifically proven practices like mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy

In How God Becomes Real: Kindling the Presence of Invisible Others
(Princeton University Press, 2020), Luhrmann explains that religious practices and narratives can create deep, positive changes for the people who engage in them. “Prayer is a lot like cognitive behavioral therapy,” Luhrmann said. “It’s a way you attend to your own inner experience, let go of distracting thoughts and focus on more positive thoughts.
By expressing gratitude, you shift attention from the way that things are going wrong to the ways they are going right.”

In the introduction to her book,

Luhrmann explains how her scholarship is inspired by two straightforward, but often overlooked, features of religion. “First, religion is a practice in which people go to effort
to make contact with an invisible other. Second, people who are religious want change.
They want to feel differently than they do,” she writes. “Yet instead of exploring these features, most theories of religion begin by treating belief in an invisible other both as taken for granted and as a cognitive mistake.”

Luhrmann argues that individuals of faith often have to work hard to make supernatural beings real and that those who are able to do so experience helpful changes. “If they’re lucky, they’re able to attend differently to their thoughts, feel calmer and more beloved,” she said. And these positive outcomes reinforce religious practices, encouraging sustained commitment to ritual and observance.

Relying on ethnographic studies of what she calls “active believers,” including evangelical Christians, pagans, Zoroastrians, Black Catholics, Santeria initiates, and newly orthodox Jews, Luhrmann found that it takes considerable effort and regular practice to create worlds where supernatural others feel present and real. That’s because most people make a clear distinction in their lives between real and unreal.

For instance, Luhrmann writes, most people, even those with deep faith, do not ask God to feed the dog or write their term paper. And religious traditions address this dichotomy. Referencing a famous Islamic hadith, or saying of the prophet Muhammad, Luhrmann writes: “Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?’ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings upon him, said, ‘Tie her and trust in Allah.’”

For Luhrmann, the story is an example of how human beings instinctively understand the difference between the demands of the real, mundane world and the world of the spirit. Therefore, the puzzle of religion is not the problem of false belief, but rather of what Luhrmann calls “real-making” – how gods and spirits become real for people and what that does for those who engage in the practice.

Rather than presume that people worship because they believe, or build cathedrals because the belief is already present, Luhrmann flips the equation. She argues instead that people believe because they worship. In other words, the process of “real-making” and engaging fully in rituals and practices that bring one closer to God is so satisfying to practitioners that their faith endures.

Research has repeatedly shown that people of faith report feeling better and healthier.
One of the most striking findings in social epidemiology, Luhrmann notes, is that religious involvement with God is better for your body in terms of immune functions and reducing loneliness. One explanation for this, Luhrmann writes, is that for those with an intense faith, God becomes a social relationship. MRI results indicate that in terms of brain function, talking to God resembles conversing with a friend.

But the nature of that relationship is also key in terms of health.
The more that God is seen as judgmental and negative, the more mental health symptoms are reported. In contrast, people who represent their relationship with God as being loving and satisfying pray more and report fewer mental health symptoms. “The data suggest that when it’s a good relationship, it’s better for the body,” Luhrmann said. “Religious faith can lead to positive mental benefits, writes Stanford anthropologist.”

Even if one is inclined to cultivate that type of relationship with an unseen being, Luhrmann notes that it takes intense work and that some people may be more likely to be successful than others – namely those who are more comfortable using their imaginations. “People who have an Enlightenment mindset – focused on rational, scientific thought – those people often discount these things and don’t trust their imaginations as much,” she said.

But it is precisely imagination, or as Luhrmann writes, “the human ability to conceive of that which is not available to the senses,” that makes possible a close relationship with a supernatural other.

5 Ways Faith Can Heal the Body

People Prayer Group
Recent research indicates that having faith and attending a church service weekly is good for the mind and body. Attending religious services could boost the immune system, and help improve moods among those depressed. Among those who attended religious services were the elderly and had better health. This could be from attending church services, less social isolation, and finding peace of mind. This topic remains provocative, but there is a growing body of research from Harvard and Yeshiva University that faith plays a role in our health, happiness and well-being.

Peace
Do you know the feeling when you are at true peace? Faith, prayer or meditation can take us to this relaxed state. Faith does the same thing to our minds by giving us peace that we don’t have to be in control. This allows the body to go into a more restful state where it can ward off infections better. Stress depletes the body of vitamins, and lowers the immune system, so use your faith and hope to aid the healing process.

Heart Conditions Improved
People with heart conditions who prayed more were reported to heal quicker than those who didn’t pray.
Time Magazine did a piece on the “Biology of Religion” in 2009 that looked at meditation, prayer, and faith. A “1988 study by cardiologist Randolph Byrd of San Francisco General Hospital found that heart patients who were prayed for fared better than those who were not.”

The Psychology of Hope: How to Build Hope and a Better Future | HealthyPsych.com
Scripture can benefit your health when confessing God’s word regarding healing, as it ushers in hope and encouragement. Without hope we perish, and become sicker physically and mentally.

Dale Archer, M.D. wrote about The Power of Hope | Psychology Today
“It did not take long to realize that my primary responsibility was to turn the victim mindset into a survivor mindset, and that meant restoring or instilling hope. To have hope is to empower yourself in order to face the toughest of times and emerge a survivor.”

Gratitude
Thankfulness boosts the immune system that combats sickness and encourages the body to heal itself. Gratitude also gets your mind off yourself, and allows you to focus on the good. This gives us a solid foundation when facing sickness.

Brain Injuries and Faith
Wayne State University found that there was a correlation between people suffering from brain injuries and faith. People who held a religious belief, and were connected to a higher power had a better success rate in physical therapy, and were less depressed. “Among healthy adults, religion and spirituality have shown strong association with improved life satisfaction and physical and mental health outcomes,” Dr. Brigid Waldron-Perrine said, who conducted the study in 2011 with professor of psychology Lisa J. Rapport.

What Is Faith Healing And How Does It Work?

Written by: Alyssa Castillo
During a faith-healing session, people with health-related problems gather in hopes of one thing- Getting healed. In this crowd, people are suffering from bone diseases, respiratory ailments, mobility problems, and more. Faith healing is healing not by medicine but by faith. Now, how this works is, a charismatic person lays his or her hands on the person with the illness and prays by faith for the illness to be gone. They pray in faith and believe that the intervention of God will heal those who have faith. But what takes place? Is it a miracle by faith or healing by coincidence?

Also known as “divine healing” or “miracle healing”, this process pertains to the removal
of any existing physical illnesses or discomforts through the use of divine intervention.
This includes the usage of powerful prayers or pray-overs that seek the Miracle of God.
Faith healing is an inheritance we have received from Jesus.
In the year 2000, Newsweek Magazine revealed the results of a survey regarding this matter. The results showed that 54 percent of adult Americans with different faith structures believed in faith healing and the ability of the mind to heal the body.
So, what is faith healing, and how does this work? More importantly, what does the Bible say about this?

How Faith Healing Works
Faith healing is an important part of every Christian’s life. It has been around for decades and was especially seen in action during the time when Jesus was on earth. The Bible has a record of forty healings done by Jesus during his ministry. Aside from Him, faith healing was also done by His Apostles in the various missions they set out for. Not just that, faith healing such as anointing and healing through hand contact has been associated numerously with pastors, anointed preachers, and church leaders. However, today, anyone can be a mediator of faith to the sick for prayer is power. If you believe and have faith in God’s healing and claim it, you will receive it.

The Works of the Faith Healers
With these guidelines, faith healers can work on eliminating diseases. To clarify, the process of faith healing through prayer is not done as a result of prayer. Instead, it’s the declaration of how God heals the body of any sickness in full understanding and absolute confidence. As clarified by faith healers, this process announces the successful healing of God even before He starts. Therefore, we can say that this method takes a big leap in faith for it to work.

As for these “faith healers”, unlike the common misconceptions, their abilities do not really stem from their magical or supernatural powers to heal people. Just like anyone, these faith healers are just humans. But, what makes them faith healers is the blessing of how God used their bodies as a vessel for healing. Their ability is a hundred percent dependent on God, they do not control the results of God’s Will. To clarify, they are instruments by God, and by no means can they heal anyone with their raw powers.

image.png
The importance of sunlight exposure for overall health.

1 Corinthians 12:28 tells us about this topic; Paul lists the power of healing as one of the gifts available to the human body. This clears up the misconception about faith healers having powers. They don’t have special powers. However, they are being used by the Holy Spirit to heal people depending on the Will of God. This is like how some people are gifted with the ability to effectively preach the Word of God. They can touch the lives and heal the hearts of many through the presence of the Holy Spirit in their words. Still, these two abilities rely on God and God alone.

The History Of Faith Healing
Although the act of healing is usually associated with the time of Jesus in the New Testament, faith healing was already around before He was born! Even during the era of Ancient Egypt, evidence of its popularity was found in the Ebers Papyrus around 1552 BC. But, faith healing wasn’t found just in Egypt. The Greeks were also known for using therapeutic touch therapy in their Asklepian temples for healing the sick.

Today, faith healing is still used in many cultures and faith-based practices. In fact, its platform is growing bigger. There are now faith healers on content sharing and social media sites, and preachers who preach on the works of faith healing. Since there isn’t really a single method in the process of faith healing, the people who are genuinely gifted in healing can practice their gifts from God on easier grounds unlike before. But the main thing is, faith healing is given to all Christians. All they need to do is have faith, and believe in the power of prayer.

Faith Healing in A Scientific Perspective
While it is true that faith healing is recognized by large groups of people, it also shares a great portion of doubts and disbelief. According to some of the participants in various online platform forums, they say that faith healing is a “scam” or a fraudulent approach done by people who attempt to make a business from faith healing. Most American scientists remain sharply divided on the question of faith healing. Many say it is inconsistent and does not justify bringing religion into medical practice.

In an attempt to fully understand how faith healing works, the people in the field of science published different insights between the connection of the human body and the methods of healing. While there are doubts about how these are performed, the insights created by science can explain what happens inside the body as the process is ongoing. Here are some of the statements regarding this matter.

Faith Healing is a Matter of Adrenaline
Derren Brown, the creator of a Netflix educational show called “Miracle” has always been curious as to how people can heal through these methods. In his show, he was able to experience what it was like to spearhead a similar flow. In a Youtube video from Big Think, he explains that when someone is being healed, their adrenaline rushes and increases greatly.

Adrenaline is a painkiller. He emphasizes that the process of faith healing touches the psychological aspects of high adrenaline presence. He adds that just like how someone can hit their toe to be followed by a lion entering this person’s room, a person can easily ignore the pain of the toe caused by the adrenaline of wanting to escape the room with the lion.

Faith Healing is a Placebo Effect
The concept of the placebo effect has been known for years. Basically, this is the tendency of the mind to dictate the body’s condition as the brain is strong enough to alter what a person thinks he is feeling. The placebo effect is used in experiments like the ones with the weight loss pill. There are two sets of people given a pill, the first set was told that the pill had no effect on weight loss while the second set was told the opposite.

The pill that was given to them actually had no weight loss properties. But at the end of the study, the second set showed results of weight loss. This was because of the affirmations that they are going to lose weight with the pill. Just like this, many people associate faith healing with the placebo effect.

The Truth About Faith Healing
Just like how we can ever explain the vastness of the universe God created or the twist of time God planned, the full effect of God’s grace is immeasurable. Faith healing does exist, it has existed before and it is still existing now. Although the studies can give us a hint of what is happening inside, we can never truly understand the complexity of God’s power – and that’s okay!

Though it might be hard to comprehend how faith healing is possible at first, we should remember God made the world’s foundation (Job 38:4-30 ). But with the presence of faith, everything will come accordingly. Remember, faith is the first and most important step of healing. We can never truly explain the world’s mystery fully but as Galileo Galilei said, science is the language God has written the universe. Everything is possible with God and if we have faith, we know that this sentence is as true as His Love for us.

The Biblical Lessons of Faith Healing
While there are attempts of scientific narratives in explaining how faith healing works, the Bible has a more simplified answer to this. First, the Bible does touch the subject of faith healing. This is seen mostly in the time of Jesus and yes, God can heal anyone anytime. For example, in Matthew 9:18-26, a woman who was bleeding for twelve years had faith that if she could only touch Jesus’ cloak, her healing would be guaranteed. So, when she did touch His cloak, Jesus looked at her and said that she had been healed by her faith. At that very moment, the woman was healed. The lesson taught here is that when we simply reach God in faith, he will respond.

As Christians, a sick person should also offer their prayers in faith so they can be healed (James 5:13-16). In the New Testament alone, faith healing has been done numerous times by Jesus. He lived and healed, addressing different severe ailments from different people. But, if we take a good look at all these people Jesus healed, their process all began with faith and none of them failed in getting healed by Jesus. Still, there are some other clarifications about how the Bible describes faith healing:

Humans Hinder Healing
Of course, no human would want to have a lifetime illness. But sometimes, we don’t even notice that we do not heal because we didn’t allow God to heal us in the first place. In John 5:6-7, Jesus asked a lame man if he wanted to get well. Who wouldn’t, right? Considering the man was lame for 38 years, it was an odd question to ask. Perhaps the question given by Jesus was to address why the man isn’t seeking the Lord’s healing. Probably, Jesus saw the man’s liking for the attention and charity he receives from other people.

James 4:2 addresses our tendency to want something but we don’t receive it because we don’t ask God. This doesn’t go only for the subject of healing, all our desires can be acquired, all our pains will be succored – only if we ask God. We need to seek Him and that’s the first step. From there, God will start working on our lives and heal whatever’s taking up our bodies and souls.

God Can Say “No”
Faith healing involves the vessel which is our body and the blessing which is God. As great as being healed through faith may be, God can say “no” sometimes. God’s approval works, but He does not always give us everything we want, including healing (Romans 8:32). For some, this can be a little concerning but, it’s for the best.

God has His unfailing plan for our lives. As early as the world was made, He already knows what to do with every second of our lives and the good news is, He has destined greatness for us in the end if we choose to follow and accept Him. So when God says no to healing despite our high levels of faith, it is because He has greater plans for us or higher healings for us.

We Need to Confess
The concept of faith healing revolves around accepting and announcing that God is going to get rid of our sickness. With that in mind, we cannot do this if we have sins we choose to hide from God. Of course, God knows all our sins but He wants us to confess it. Healing demands confession (James 5:16). It is easy to say that we want God to heal us and therefore, we believe that He will. But we need to release ourselves from the sins we carry. And until then, God can start working His ways. God wants more than simply proclamation, for faith healing, He needs our full submission!

God Can Do Everything
Another important lesson faith healing tells us is how God can do anything. It doesn’t just go for healing, He can change, create, and remove anything in a split second. But as the Bible reveals to us the miracles and the wonderful blessings done by God, the recipients of His blessings are actually those who believed in Him.

Experiencing a successful faith healing cannot be done without acknowledging that God is bigger than whatever barrier and burden we carry in our lives. Sometimes, people can overestimate their problems while underestimating the Lord’s immense power. But really, it should not be this way. We have to know deep in our hearts that the Lord can do everything.

We Will All Experience Ultimate Healing
Yes, all of us are bound to experience the ultimate healing in the Heavens called death. For others, this might sound like an eerie topic and that’s normal, death can sound terrifying at first. But death is the ultimate healing (Revelation 21:4). When we die, we will no longer experience sorrow, sickness, or pain. This is why it’s the ultimate healing we cannot run away from.

No person would want sickness or even death but, if we open our minds to what really happens in the big picture, we can understand. This doesn’t mean that we should just give up and embrace our deaths. Instead, we just need to accept the concept of death as it is inevitable.

Just like Lazarus, Jesus brought him back to life (John 11:1-45) because Jesus still had a mission for him to do in his life for God’s grace. Still, this does not eliminate the truth that humans are destined to reunite with their Creator after their lives on Earth. Faith healing does not cancel a person’s death because everyone is bound to die. Instead, faith healing expands only the time before a person dies in perfect sync of God’s Will.

Be careful:
Throughout history, there are people who claim to practice the kinds of healing only God can do. Again, faith healing does not come from the supernatural powers of the faith healers, they are mere vessels of the Spirit blessed to heal people. This does not make them in any way dependent on their own power. However, now, there are people out there who claim to be faith healers when they are actually not.

There have been numerous instances of people using the concept of faith healing for business. They trick sick people into buying their services or products and use the idea of a false faith to give an illusion of healing. This is an insult to God and therefore, should not be avoided at all costs. If anyone is planning to contact a faith healer, start with your faith first. Why? Remember, the best person to contact at times when we are desperate for healing is God Himself. He’s just there and He’s waiting for us to call His Name.

Faith healing is just one of the countless blessings God has for us. Truly, it is amazing to the extent that some people doubt it. But as for the believers, we know that this is just one of the many things our faith can do to us. The Bible has many pages explaining how faith saved many people. So, the truth of what faith healing does is not something unfamiliar. Together, let’s keep our faiths high as God sets our burdens and sickness lower. Remember, seeking God is setting up an appointment with the greatest Healer in the world! He will heal you and He will succeed.

FOR religion the world, whether visible or invisible, is the manifestation of God. The real basis of religion lies in our own conscious experience, in our awareness of values which determine the course of our existence and unite us all but cannot be regarded as derived from either individual or collective self-interest. In so far as we realise these values, their objective reality, and their unity, we acknowledge, whether we are aware of it or not, that our universe is a spiritual universe and the manifestation of one God.

At TED 2006, Dan Dennett spoke out for the unbiased study of religion as a natural, biological phenomenon. His hope may come true. The Economist writes of recent headway made into understanding of religious belief — in particular a new project called Explaining Religion, the “largest-ever scientific study of the subject.” EXREL’s goal is to integrate research on religious faith in biology, anthropology and psychology. Biology and religion
BY NEIL RICKERT
Is there a biological basis for religion?
There has been some speculation about this, following a recent report:
Evidence of Biological Basis for Religion in Human Evolution
In this post I will express my opinion.  I want to be clear that what I write here is my opinion.
First, some comments on the Science Daily report.
Evidence of biological basis for religion in human evolution — ScienceDaily

It says:
“Religious belief is a unique human attribute observed across different cultures in the world, even in those cultures which evolved independently, such as Mayans in Central America and aboriginals in Australia,” said Deshpande, who is also a researcher at Auburn’s Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Center.
Call me a skeptic.  It may be unique to humans.  Or maybe not.  How can we be sure that there is nothing similar in social bees, social ants or prairie dogs?  It seems to me that we would have to get inside their culture and their subjective lives to be able to determine whether there is something similar.

Is religiosity biological?
The problem here is that it is very hard to know what the question is asking.  It seems very likely that a capacity for cultural myths would gain biological support.  Is that the same thing?  Perhaps it is.  When we discover a culture that has a mythology, we will probably describe that as a primitive religion.  But perhaps it is a capacity for myth, rather than a capacity for religion, that has evolved.  And, in that case, religion has been able to make use of that capacity for myth.

Myth and biology
Why do we evolve a capacity for myth?
To me, it seems entirely plausible that we would develop such a capacity.  A cultural myth is a kind of memory for the culture.  The myth, itself, may be fiction.  But the myth is usually wrapped around cultural practice, and so serves as a kind of memory for those practices.  For example, it is often suggested that the Jewish dietary laws may have served as a reminder to avoid some types of food that were more likely to carry disease.  It has also been suggested that native groups in some places were less affected by the devastating tsunami of 2004.  Those groups recognized some signs, and moved inland away from the sea.  This kind of recognition can come from the stories told in the cultural myths of those groups.
The idea of myths as cultural memory perhaps seems strange to us.  But that’s because we have the printing press, libraries, etc.  However, in terms of the history of mankind, those are relatively recent inventions.  Before there were such technological innovations, the traditions and myths of a culture would have been the main reservoir of cultural memory.
Given the apparent benefits of such a cultural memory, it seems likely that a capacity for such memory would have been selected in the processes of evolution.  And this is why I see it as entirely plausible, that there is an evolved capacity for cultural myths.

Kamala Harris’ reaction to ‘the kiss’ between her husband and Jill Biden (msn.com)

jaketepper on Gettr: @WarRoom
Biden gropes little girls like Jill gropes grown men 🤣🤣

50 years of fleecing Americans has made him an unconscionable liar.
The media lies for him, because they’re all a bunch of liberal scum.
People do not trust Biden. He has been caught in too many lies.

Biden’s Selling Out the United States
The SOTU Speech was a fabricated Lie.
All I can say? When His mouth is moving, he’s lying.
Anyone buying into this crap, might as well kiss their beloved Country goodbye.
After Biden went on national TV to claim that his Afghanistan withdrawal was
“An extraordinary success”, why does anyone listen to his lies?
He lies more than any person that I have ever seen. “No joke”.
A Fake president put in by fake voting machines in every
Democrat County in every blue state in our country 🙄

Our We the people: (S)elected (p)Resident Joe Biden’s incompetence is just
a distraction to take the heat off of the real Barrack-O-dent, so he can continue
the “fundamental transformation of America” by decimating our middle class
even further than they already have, decimating the middle class, destroying
our culture, disintegrating our election system, and politically persecuting his
competition for 2024. And yes, they do want to bring Barrack Obuma back.

1. “Minority leader” Chuck Schumer
2. No one left behind in the Biden economy.
3. Only raise taxes on >$400k
4. Covid caused crime spike
5. Illegal immigration is down.

Biden also blamed congress for its inaction on illegal immigration,
but it is Biden’s policy that turned the most secure border in

Fact-Check Biden’s SOTU …
1. The Inflation Reduction Act brings health care costs down.
It would increase taxpayer costs by $248 billion over the next decade.
2. Biden painted laws to protect unborn from being killed as “extreme abortion bans.”
State laws that allow late-term abortions are the most extreme in the world.
3. “We now have a record number of personnel working to secure the border.”
He remains committed to Democrat open border policy.
4. “And two years ago, our democracy faced its greatest threat since the Civil War.”
The Capitol was attacked 4 times before Jan. 6, 2021.
5. Biden called for police reform. Democrats blocked a police reform bill in 2020.
6. “Today, COVID no longer controls our lives.” His Democrat teacher unions extend school restrictions.
7. Inflation lie …it doesn’t matter what he said, it only matters what the media reports, for example, in CA the eyeballs were fixated on LeBrons scoring record, and elsewhere in the nation likely other local events consumed the attention of people…it doesn’t matter who votes, it only matters who counts the votes, likewise, it doesn’t matter what politicians say, it only matters what the media reports they said…and once media is conflicted by sadistic totalitarian anarchy as its guiding principle, what they were going to report was decided months ago, likewise, what the vote counters were going to report was determined months ago…the common thread in the destruction of democracy is sadistic totalitarian anarchy, and foretold a century ago, the birth of marxism…

Nancy, Paul Pelosi Receive Standing Ovations at State of the Union
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul were spotlighted Tuesday during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. The president called Nancy “the greatest speaker in the history of the House” and denounced the hate and extremism he said led to the violent attack on Paul.

“Here tonight in this chamber is the man who bears the scars of that brutal attack, but is as tough and strong and as resilient as they get. My friend, Paul Pelosi,” said Biden. Paul was violently attacked in his San Francisco home last October where he suffered a major head injury.

The president said the attack should have never happened and spoke out against political violence in America. “We must all speak out …
In America, we must protect the right to vote, not suppress that fundamental right …
And we must give hate and extremism in any form no safe harbor,” said the president.

President Lyden lumped the man who violently attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband in with the January 6 protesters and said that former President Donald Trump sees them all as patriots. “How can you call yourself a democracy when you have a group of 1,000 people who storm the United States Capitol, break the windows and doors down … break through the House and Senate doors and chambers, have people cowering on the floor, threatening to kill people?”
Biden asked. “You saw what happened to Paul Pelosi, in the effort to get to Nancy. Well, guess what. What do Trump and all his Trumpies call them? He said they’re ‘patriots.'” Trump called the attack on Pelosi’s husband a “sad situation” and a “terrible thing” but does not appear to have publicly called the Pelosi attacker a patriot, and a Trump spokesman pushed back on Biden’s claim to the contrary.
“Joe Biden is clearly unwell,” said Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich. “Nothing he says makes sense, which presents a very sad reality for our country. America is a nation in decline, and we have never been in a weaker position, but, thankfully, the first opportunity to turn that around happens this Tuesday as a new wave of Trump-endorsed fighters are swept into office.

Fine-Tune Your Metabolism

Adjusting over time will help you stay thinner—and healthier
COURTENAY SMITH

Let’s Explore Kuudose Media with Danielle Payton (Co-founder of Kuudose Media) – Morning Laziness
Danielle Payton’s metabolism was a mystery for most of her adult life. When she was
18, she weighed 75 kilos, which made little sense to the five-foot-four-inch-high school shot-put champ. “I was a very healthy eater—coming from a family of pescatarians and vegetarians—and an athlete, and I couldn’t lose a single kilo,” says Payton.
Just before college, she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which causes imbalances in the hormones that regulate both the reproductive system and metabolism. That solved part of the mystery—women with PCOS are prone to weight gain. But Payton continued to struggle. By the time she turned 24, she weighed 95 kilos and had developed prediabetes. Her search for a solution became more focused and urgent.
“I had to find food and exercise that worked for my body,” says Payton, who lives in Miami and is co-founder of kuudose.co an online fitness and wellness programme. For her, that meant giving up processed and fried foods, eating more animal protein, doing short daily bouts of walking (30 minutes) and strength training (5 to 15 minutes), and taking a probiotic supplement. She also takes doctor-prescribed medication for PCOS (metformin/spironolactone), which seems to help keep her weight in check.

It took her four years, but Payton ultimately lost about 40 kilos and now is fairly
steady at 55. “Mentally, I am tougher because of this process of standing up for my body and figuring out what worked for me,” she says. “No one knows your body like you do, and listening to your body is crucial. ” Most of us have heard that a good metabolism is the golden ticket to weight loss, but that seriously underplays metabolism’s role in our bodies and in our health.
Simply put, metabolism is the energy used by the physical processes that keep us alive.
We burn up to 80 percent of daily calories while at rest (referred to as basal, or resting, metabolism) by breathing, digesting, maintaining circulation and more. But while that fact inspires comparisons of your metabolism to a fire-burning furnace, it’s really more like a busy city transit system, delivering the right mix of chemicals to the right cells at the right times to extract energy from food and keep the whole machine (i.e., your body) running seamlessly. That’s why the first sign of a troubled metabolism may be the faltering of one of these systems manifesting as rising insulin, cholesterol or triglyceride levels or fat deposits around your waist—all markers of metabolic disorder, which heralds a higher
risk of diabetes, heart disease, or stroke.

But your biggest risk—the ‘most universal contributor’ to metabolic decline according to an article co-written by Nir Barzilai, MD, director of the Institute for Aging at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine—is ageing. Ageing naturally causes metabolic decline and also makes us more likely to require medications to address issues such as high blood pressure or depression that could slow metabolism.
While there’s obviously no fix for ageing, you can learn to fine-tune your metabolism as your body changes over time, priming it to deliver the right mix of hormones, much as Payton did. “Find what works for you—then do it consistently,” she says. Here are some
of the best small changes that can help you make strides in boosting your metabolism.

Watch the Sunrise.
“Simply basking in early morning rays can increase your metabolism naturally,”
says Ken Ceder, executive director of the non-profit Science of Light. That’s because our circadian rhythms, or master body clocks, regulate the hormones crucial to metabolism and hunger control, including insulin, cortisol and leptin.
Our circadian rhythms work best when in sync with the sun, receiving bright light in the morning and diminishing rays toward sundown. To get your daily dose, spend at least 15 minutes every morning outdoors in sunlight, without sunglasses so the sun reaches your eyes’ photoreceptors. (Don’t stare at the sun; you will get the benefits passively.)

Safeguard Your Sleep.
Sleep is the reset button for your metabolism. Prepare your brain for bedtime by dimming the lights a few hours beforehand—turn off bright overheads and turn on bedside lamps equipped with warm or amber-toned bulbs.
Also, “if your slumber is constantly interrupted by light snoring, then you are missing
out on calorie-burning benefits,” says Dr, Bindiya Gandhi, a family medicine doctor in Decatur, Georgia. The fix may be as simple as using a breathing strip on your nose to help open constricted sinuses at night. (Just ask your doctor whether you should be tested for sleep apnoea, since snoring is a common sign of the serious disorder.)

Try Intermittent Fasting.
If changing your diet is too overwhelming, try a form of fasting. A 2020 review in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics concluded that intermittent fasting regimens can be a promising way to lose weight and improve metabolic health.
There are many approaches, such as overnight fasting (don’t eat between 7 p.m.
and 6 a.m.) or the 5:2 method (eat about 25 percent of usual calories two days a week).
Ask your doctor first. Trying it even once or twice may jump-start other healthy habits.

Track Your Water Intake with Rubber Bands.
Try this easy system: In the morning, put five rubber bands on your wrist.
Every time you drink 16 ounces (two cups) of water, take off a band and put it on the bottle. German researchers found that metabolic rate jumped by 30 per cent for up to
40 minutes in 14 volunteers after they drank 16 ounces of water.
The researchers estimated that over a year, increasing your water consumption by two cups a day could burn an extra two kgs or so. Since much of the increase in metabolic rate is due to the body’s efforts to heat the liquid, make sure the water you’re drinking is icy cold.

6 Health Benefits of Drinking Alkaline Water
By Dr. Victor Marchione, M.D.
Disclaimer: Results are not guaranteed***
and may vary from person to person***.

Benefits of Drinking Alkaline Water
Water is incredibly essential for the human body. In fact, the average adult body is made up of 50% to 65% water. Water is used in the organs, tissues, and cells of the body to help regulate temperature and maintain necessary body functions, such as eliminating waste and transporting nutrients.

In other words, water is a carrier†”it distributes vitamins, minerals, and glucose to nourish your cells. It also helps remove toxins from the body through the urine and feces.
I make it a priority to drink a lot of water every day. The general recommended daily intake of water is eight to 10, eight-ounce glasses of water per day. That’s around
64 to 80 ounces a day. However, the Institute of Medicine recommends men consume an average of 125 ounces of water daily, and women drink approximately 91 ounces each day. Don’t forget that you can also consume water through food, such as vegetables and fruit.

There is often debate about what type of water is best for your health. Is filtered water the best for you? How about reverse osmosis filtered water? What about water straight from the spring? Can you simply drink tap water? Whatever water you drink, many believe your water should be alkaline filtered.

What Is Alkaline Water?
Alkalinity and acidity are both measurements on the pH scale of 1 to 14.
Neutral is considered 7.0, and anything below that point is considered acidic.
Alkaline water typically has a pH between 7.0 and 10.0 on the scale.

Another common name for alkaline water is ionized water. It is thought that natural spring water is the best source of alkaline water, with a pH around 8.0 to 9.0.
Alkaline water also has a higher pH level than tap water.
Regular tap water usually has a pH level of 6.0 to 7.0.

Natural alkaline water occurs when water travels over rocks. For instance, spring water will obtain minerals and increase in alkalinity during this process. Basically, spring water is naturally alkalinized.

However, there are products called alkaline ionizers that alkalinize the water during electrolysis. It is a chemical process that separates water into more acidic or alkaline molecules. Alkaline water and water ionizers are typically found in many health foods stores or grocery stores.

Health Benefits of Alkaline Water
Alkaline water helps alkalize an acidic body. This is especially important for people who consume diets that are rich in acidic foods, such as processed foods, dairy, sugar, and red meat. Some research suggests you can live longer drinking alkaline water. One study called the Okinawa Centenarian Project found that people from Okinawa, Japan, regularly live to 100 years old—they drink alkaline water with a pH of 10.0!

Evidence also suggests a handful of other alkaline water benefits:

1. Helpful for Detoxification
Detoxification is important for removing the accumulation of harmful toxins in
the body. Toxic overload can lead to chronic fatigue, low energy, bloating, mental confusion, inflammation, and food sensitivities.
Drinking alkaline water can help detox the body of heavy metals, such as mercury.
In a 2003 study published in the journal Ambio, researchers found that alkaline water had a protective effect against mercury in 43 women who lived in an alkaline-rich area in Sweden.

2. Alkaline Water Weight Loss Plan
It may be beneficial to try an alkaline water weight loss plan. In a 2011 preliminary study published in the journal Original Internist, researchers found that obese individuals who drank two liters of alkaline water daily lost an average of 12 pounds over two months. In a 52-week study published in the International Journal of Experimental Pathology in 2001, rats that drank water with the highest pH level lost the most weight.

3. Reduces Acid Reflux
Acid reflux will typically create a burning feeling in the lower chest, typically after
a person has eaten. It is a condition where stomach acid flows into the esophagus.
It is also commonly known as acid indigestion and heartburn.
People are often diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD),
where acid reflux is experienced at least twice a week.

Research shows that alkaline water can be a beneficial therapeutic treatment for patients with acid reflux disease. In a 2012 laboratory study published in the journal The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology, researchers discovered that drinking alkaline water with a pH of 8.8 results in beneficial acid-buffering activity. Alkaline water also inactivates pepsin, an enzyme that plays a role in acid reflux.

4. Helps Improve Bone Health
Alkaline water could also improve bone health. A 2014 observational study published
in the journal BMJ associated a high milk intake with a higher risk of fractures amongst women. It is thought that alkaline water is a safer dietary source of calcium than milk or dairy. In a 2009 study published in the journal Bone, researchers discovered that alkaline water significantly reduced two markers associated with bone loss—PTH and S-CTX—in 30 female dieticians.

5. Provides Antioxidant Benefits
Alkaline water is a natural antioxidant that can neutralize harmful radicals in the body. Laboratory studies have also tested the antioxidant potential of alkaline water. In a 2006 study published in the journal Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, alkaline water showed potent antioxidant activity when mixed with vitamin C.

6. Essential for Heart Health
Drinking alkaline water can reduce certain risk factors associated with heart disease.
In a study published in the Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine, researchers found that alkaline water consumption for three to six months could significantly reduce blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.

It was concluded that alkaline ionized water could improve the symptoms associated
with diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. Heart disease and hypertension are
risk factors for diabetes. In a 2004 study published in the journal BMC Public Health, researchers suggested that alkalized mineral water could lower blood pressure in people with low calcium and magnesium levels.

Drinking alkaline water may also help hydrate your body, improve mental clarity,
and boost your overall immune system.

How to Alkalize Your Water pH Testing Bottled Water – Bing video
You can also easily make alkaline water yourself. Simply follow these steps:

Check your current water pH: Check your water’s current pH level with a pH test paper kit before you alkalize the water. A pH kit can be found at most health food stores.
It will come with a pH color chart and pH strips. Dip the strip into your water and let it stand. Next, combine your strip with the pH color chart, and take note of your water’s pH level. Your water will likely be around 7.0 on the pH scale; if it is below 7.0, your water is currently acidic.

Alkalize your water: There are a few ways you can alkalize your water. One alkalizing method is to mix 1/8 of a tablespoon of baking soda with an eight-ounce glass of water —baking soda is highly alkaline. You can also add freshly squeezed lemon juice or lime juice to alkalize your water. Some people may also add pH drops or alkaline minerals to water.

Confirm your water is alkaline:
Test your water again with another pH strip. It should be around 8.0 to 9.0 after you alkalize your water. Drinking alkaline water is a good idea—but many people should be drinking more water in general.
Check your urine color to determine if your body is well-hydrated. A deep yellow color is a sign of dehydration; if your urine is clear or light yellow, then you are likely getting enough water.

Dehydration is often what increases hunger and cravings.
So, if you just ate and its midafternoon but you’re still feeling that itch to eat.

Try a big glass of water first! 💧 We make it harder than it really is!

Feed Your Gut.
“Healthy gut bacteria optimize your metabolism by helping your body extract nutrients from your diet more effectively,” says Amy Gorin, MS, RDN. A daily serving of probiotic-rich foods such as yoghurt, kefir and unpasteurized sauerkraut might help, though so far studies have been inconclusive on the total benefits. Yoghurt has an added advantage—dairy foods may lower the risk of metabolic disorder, according to an analysis in the British Journal of Nutrition. Preliminary studies have found some probiotic strains help with weight loss (Lactobacillus rhamnosus) and body fat reduction (Lactobacillus amylovorus). “Ask your health-care provider about a probiotic supplement,”
recommends Gorin.

Enzymes are natural proteins. (Digestive Enzymes versus Systemic Enzymes,)
That stimulate and accelerate biological reactions in the body.
Enzymes, many of which are made in the pancreas, break down food and help with the absorption of nutrients into the blood.
Metabolic enzymes build new cells and repair damaged ones in the blood, tissues, and organs. Though the American Cancer Society says that there have been no well-designed studies showing that enzyme supplements are effective in treating cancer we need look no further than the benefit that comes from stimulating and accelerating so many biological reactions.
Most alternative health professionals understand the importance of taking digestive enzymes. This becomes critical for many people as they age. Most people think of enzymes (if they think of them at all) as necessary only for those who deal with digestive problems such as GERD, hiatal hernias, ulcers, etc. Enzymes though are extremely important for treating cancer and should not be overlooked. Enzymes allow one substance to be turned into a different substance and support the pancreas, liver, and immune system’s function. Quash Cravings with Protein.
A number of well-documented studies show that high-protein diets may help adults lose weight while maintaining lean muscle mass (one of the main drivers of a naturally high calorie burn), according to a 2020 analysis in Nutrition. Protein also unleashes a cascade of metabolic signals from the gastrointestinal tract to tell the brain that it’s full. However, long-term high protein diets can be harmful to the kidneys, so consult your doctor.

Don’t Detox.
Severe, long-term calorie restriction doesn’t work, because your metabolism is mainly determined by your body composition—the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn throughout the day. “When you lose weight quickly, your body is breaking down its muscle mass,” says Susan Berkman, RD, of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.“When you resume eating normally, your metabolism is slower than when you started the plan because you have less muscle.” Result: You gain fat.

Chill Out—Literally.
Cold weather is one of nature’s most powerful metabolic boosters, helping increase your levels of brown fat—the type that burns more calories even when you’re at rest. “Going outdoors in cold weather can increase your non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) score, helping you torch calories,” says Kristin Koskinen a registered dietitian nutritionist in Richland, Washington.
“The metabolic act of staying warm is an easy way to boost your metabolism without breaking a sweat.” Taking a cold shower (or finishing a steamy one with a cool rinse-off) might also give your metabolism a quick boost by forcing your body to shiver—which requires energy (and calories)—to warm up. But since the long-term effects on weight loss are unclear, you’ll have to decide whether the torture is worth it.

Curl Up on the Couch with a Book.
Wait—being a couch potato can help your metabolism? If you’re totally relaxed, then yes. “Stress increases the level of the hormone cortisol, which can cause metabolic dysfunction if it’s constantly elevated,” says Gandhi. The cure is to do something daily that will help you completely de-stress,whether that’s watching a movie, taking a long bath or reading a book.

Sweeten the Deal with Cinnamon.
In test tubes, cinnamaldehyde—the compound that gives cinnamon its flavour and smell—spurred human fat cells to burn extra fat. In animals, a regular dose has been shown to help control blood glucose. Human studies are scant, but it can’t hurt to slay a sweet craving by stirring a dash into coffee, oatmeal, yoghurt or a smoothie. With additional reporting from thehealthy.com – Search (bing.com)

Here’s 10 health & wellness reminders I believe that helps us thrive to be alive (non-exhaustive list!):

1️⃣ All health arises based on whether our cells are functional. Treat all your 37 trillion-ish cells like they are babies that need love and protection: good food, sleep, calm, etc. NO ONE is going to protect your cells for you.
2️⃣ Eat as much unprocessed or minimally processed food as you possibly can. The flip side of this means cut out as much refined flours/grains, refined/added sugars, & industrially processed seed oils as you can. The healthy swap options are endless, ie flax crackers, zucchini noodles, almond flour bread, butter lettuce taco shells.
3️⃣ Be ruthless about getting 7+ hours uninterrupted sleep.
4️⃣ Move as much as you can throughout the day. Take a lap around the house or air squats every 30 min. Sitting tells our body to NOT be metabolically functional.
5️⃣ Get out in the wilderness as much as humanly possible. Be with trees, which we are completely dependent on for oxygen (life). Get more sunlight, especially in the morning. The sun is what creates all life on Earth- honor it.
6️⃣ Go to therapy. If you have a financial planner, or a doctor, or a lawyer, why in the world would you not hire a mental health professional. Your bank account and body are not more important than your brain (which dictates your entire experience of reality!).
7️⃣ Consider consciousness expanding modalities and connect with joy and awe.
8️⃣ Get a K-safe to lock your phone for long stretches. It is impossible to open it until the timer goes off. It’s brilliant.
9️⃣ Minimize synthetic toxins – filter water, eat organic or regenerative food, get rid of scented products (detergent, soap, perfumes), use less plastic.
🔟 BELIEVE your body has the capacity to heal, to feel incredible & vibrant, and to be truly happy and fulfilled. If you don’t believe that it’s possible, how do you expect it to happen?

What to Know About Covid and Blood Type – Why Type O May Protect You (menshealth.com)

COVID-19 and Blood Type | Harvard Medical School

Learning from our own existence.
Hoyle’s [1] successful prediction of the 7.6 MeV resonance of the carbon-12 nucleus, based on observation of his own carbon-based existence, established the scientific usefulness of anthropic principles. These principles have become common, if not yet standard, tools in cosmology, where theories of initial conditions may not yet exist – or, if they do exist, may admit a range of values [2, 3, 4, 5, 6].
At the same time, anthropic principles have retained a traditional role in religion and philosophy, where sensitive dependence of human existence on laws of nature that could imaginably have been otherwise is interpreted as evidence for human significance in the creation of the universe.

The tendency of life forms to make universal use of, and seemingly to depend on, specific details of natural law or historical circumstance does not end with nuclear abundances. Following decades of studying the ways in which mammalian blood achieves homeostasis by exploiting favorable regions in carbonic-acid chemistry and similar adaptations, Henderson compiled a list of such dependencies in physiology [7].
Inverting Darwin’s description of selective fine-tuning of organisms for “fit” to their environments, Henderson characterized his physiological sensitivities anthropically as evidence of “the fitness of the environment” for life. The rapid growth in understanding of biology, from structures to systems, seems likely to expose many more sensitivities of life to details of chemistry, physics, and history.

Let’s GO Brandon

President Joe Biden will deliver his second State of the Union Address on Feb. 7. (AP)

Less than a year after delivering his first State of the Union address,
President Biden is set to speak to a joint session of Congress again,
this time under different circumstances.

Biden marked his first year in office on March 1, 2022,
with Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate.
While Republicans were unable to usher in the “red wave” they expected in November,
the midterms gave the GOP the majority in the House of Representatives and
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) the gavel.

With a divided Congress, Biden will have to work in a bipartisan manner to get his agenda passed and will have a chance to voice what he wants to get done in the coming year.
Biden will speak to both chambers of Congress on Feb. 7, with plenty of issues, including gun violence, police reform, the economy and the war in Ukraine, at the forefront of many Americans’ minds.

The speech is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET with the Republican response set to follow afterward. Republicans have not announced who will speak. The announcement comes as a new Marist poll shows that more than 60 percent of Americans believe the state of the union is not strong.

What is the State of the Union?

The State of the Union Address is a speech given by the president every year to a joint session of both chambers of Congress. The president will report on the state of the country and outline his policy priorities for the coming year.

How long have past SOTU speeches lasted?

Past State of the Union addresses have typically lasted more than an hour but sometimes have been under 60 minutes. The longest State of the Union President Clinton’s last, on Jan. 27, 2000. He spoke for an hour and 28 minutes, according to Forbes.

Six lies Biden will tell in his State of the Union
Opinion by Stephen Moore •

When President Joe Biden stands before Congress and issues his State of the Union address Tuesday night, he will proclaim victory on the nation’s economy.
Most Americans are going to wonder what country he’s talking about.
Yes, the job market is strong, and that’s good news. But sorry, Mr. President:
The American economy is not strong. It isn’t even good.

The last two years have been pretty rotten on almost every metric: the squeeze on family finances, inflation, immigration, declining test scores in schools, the budget deficit and debt, out-of-control government. Here are six fibs you’re very likely to hear the president recite Tuesday night. They should be tagged with the label of the left’s favorite word this year: “disinformation.”

1) Biden has reduced the budget deficit by $1.4 trillion.
Actually, no president in modern times even comes close to Biden in terms of fiscal recklessness. In his first two years, the national debt has risen by more than $4.2 trillion. That’s more than in any two-year period in American history. U.S. National Debt Clock: Real Time (usdebtclock.org)
The deficit shot into the fiscal stratosphere of $2.8 trillion in his first year in office, and
in 2022 it was still at one of history’s highest levels, $1.4 trillion. Last year, our debt as a share of our gross domestic product hit an all-time high of 129%. Biden is like a schoolkid celebrating an improved report card because the first semester he got an F but the second semester a D-.

surging since he took office. Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images

 2) Biden inherited an economy in freefall.
Wrong. When COVID hit these shores in early 2020, the economy was shut down in the face of the once-in-a-half-century pandemic. But by 2020’s second half, the economy soared by more than 20%, and millions of Americans were moving back into their jobs. This was a historic recovery.

One week after the election, thanks to Operation Warp Speed, the COVID vaccine was announced, which set the table for an even stronger recovery. Instead, the economy has been limping forward with a weakling economic growth rate last year of 1.5%.

3) Inflation was high when Biden entered office. see also
Huh? The average inflation rate during the Trump presidency was 2%,
and in January 2021, the month Biden entered office, inflation was 1.4%.
Eighteen months later, in summer 2022, inflation rose above 9% — the highest in 40 years. It ended the year at 6.5%. Food prices are still so high that CNBC just reported: “Amid food inflation, more shoppers turn to dollar stores for groceries.”

Editorial: Biden’s economic lies show he’s either a deluded narcissist or a total fraud

4) Biden has brought down gas prices.
When President Donald Trump left office, the gas price was $2.59 a gallon nationally.
In June 2022, it was nearly double, a modern-day high of $5.004 a gallon.
Today gas is $3.48 a gallon — roughly $1 a gallon higher than when Biden entered office. And according to Gas Buddy, which provides real-time prices and projections, gas at the pump is expected to rise back to $4 a gallon this year.

image.png
Biden’s border policies have caused record setting border encounter
totals the last two years. Photo by REBECCA NOBLE / Getty Images.

5) Biden is doing all he can to secure the border.
This may be the whopper of them all. Since Biden took office, he’s issued some 90 executive orders undoing Trump’s successful border-enforcement policies — most notably stopping wall construction on the southern border and even suspending the successful “Stay in Mexico” policy (a move so wrongheaded he was recently forced to reverse it).
In 2021, there were 1.7 million border encounters, the highest ever until 2022, when that number surged above 2 million.  Lengthy timeline for DACA legal fight puts lives on hold for years ⋆ Michigan Advance

6) Biden is increasing domestic oil and gas production.
Wrong. A 2022 Committee to Unleash Prosperity study by the University of Chicago’s Casey Mulligan found that oil production would be 2 to 3 million barrels a day higher if Biden had simply followed the Trump energy plan.

America would have produced nearly $200 billion more oil last year if not for
Biden’s war on fossil fuels. We wouldn’t have had to release one teaspoon of oil from our strategic reserve. Trump issued permits for drilling on 100 million acres of federal land.
Biden has issued fewer drilling permits than any president since World War II’s end.

We’ll see how many of these fact-free statements
Biden repeats in his State of the Union speech.
But it’s highly likely the best GOP response
by Sarah Huckabee Sanders should be:
“Liar, liar, pants on fire.”

Unforgetting: A Memoir of Family, Migration, Gangs,
and the Revolution in the Americas.
Roberto Lovato – Bing video

A timely and no-holds-barred tale of gang life, guerilla warfare, immigration, and intergenerational trauma, Robert Lovato’s memoir and cultural critique reflects on multifaceted life and examines many of the self-serving myths underlying modern American culture.

The child of Salvadoran immigrants, Roberto Lovato grew up in 1970s California.
Joining a gang in his teens, he witnessed a friend take a bullet to the face in a coke deal gone bad and survived his own shooting. He eventually traded the violence of the streets for wartime El Salvador where he joined the guerilla movement against its corrupt, fraudulent military government.

As a child. Roberto endured beatings and humiliations driven by his
father Ramón’s anger—a rage rooted in his own childhood in El Salvador.
Raised in extreme poverty in the countryside during the time of La Matanza—in which tens of thousands of indigenous peoples were killed in the span of a few months—young Ramón also spent time in a brothel and as the leader of a small band of thieves on the streets of San Salvador.
Roberto looks back to the pain of his father’s youth and examines both how he survived a life straddling intersecting underworlds of family secrets, traumatic silence, and criminal black-market goods and guns, and how these forces impacted his father’s life and subsequently Roberto’s own.

Returning from El Salvador, Roberto channeled his own pain into activism and journalism, focusing his attention on how intergenerational trauma affects individual
lives and societies.
In Becoming Américan, he makes the political personal, interweaving his story and that
of his father with wider social issues, including gang life—notably that of MS-13—and the immigration crisis, to reveal the profound ties between El Salvador and the United States that have fueled the rise of both of these issues.

College Educations on the Decline

The Newsroom Speech by Jeff Daniels (with subtitles) – Bing video

It takes more energy to deliver electricity to your stove than gas so by all means let’s
get rid of gas stoves and use only electric stoves. That fits into Biden’s Energy Department and shows just how stupid those people are. Electric cars and electric charging stations, batteries, electric stoves – all less efficient and where do they get their energy from – carbon fuels.

How about tackling the fentanyl problem first? The border crisis?
Out of control crime in liberal cities? Soaring food prices? Gas stoves? Really?
Cash for gas stove clunkers? That’s what we need. Priority one. Infrared stoves.

That might be PART of the reason COLLEGES are trying to brainwash college students,
so the global elite have some people supporting their bullshit and I also just bet that parents are tired of spending their hard-earned dollars to have literal Marxist/Communist Professors indoctrinate their children with idiot ideas about Gender, Hate Speech, Climate Change and all the other bullshit theories they can dream up. You want enrollment to go up, how about teaching subjects that prepare a person to FIND A GOOD JOB and be a productive member of society! College Enrollment Decline Tied To Pandemic-Era Mandates, Population Decrease, Expert Says | The Daily Caller

The decline in college enrollments is not all about the pandemic.
College enrollments are down because the quality of college education is getting worse, students are fed up with restriction of free speech, Marxist professors denigrate the United States, CRT and social emotional learning preempt studies in math, science and English, and graduates are coming out of college without critical thinking skills, teamwork concepts, a lack of morality, ethics and subject knowledge and are not prepared for the workforce. THE PANDEMIC IS JUST A LEFTIST EXCUSE.
No, it’s not from the pandemic…..It’s because parents and young adults don’t want the garbage that these colleges are pushing on them, even our religious colleges are pushing this craziness and immoral garbage,,, Better to delay college than compromise your life with these jabs. All cause mortality and disability continue to maintain high rates since mandates started.

Well, it’s their Pandemic Gods who are purposefully creating the “Population Decrease” and have been for a long time. Maybe it took our youth being in otherwise normal surroundings to knock some of that indoctrination out of their brains. And if not, their parents who control the checkbook more than likely have had enough of the snot-nosed attitude that comes with the indoctrination. Can you imagine being locked up with a snot-nosed indoctrinated radical & realizing that it’s our own corrupt weaponized government that is destroying our children and our country while their media fan club runs for cover? Thinking it’s a mystery that enrollment is down in abusive schools and up in traditional schools is the result of common core math – also by design. #vaccinedeaths #jabsarekillingpeople #jabsideeffects

I want to be paid reparations because all my life as a Whiteman I have been forced to
pay for the irresponsible behavior of black people. I’ve been taxed extra to support their living supportive programs, education, housing, food, healthcare, incarceration, equal opportunity, phones, among others. The money I’ve taken from my paychecks due to being self-responsible and self-reliant, could have been better used on my own children and family needs. Not to mention myself. Pay up!!!!!!!

Well, people are figuring out that a huge debt is not worth the woke indoctrination…
it was barely worthwhile back when you actually got an education. I get it.
Who wants to spend a few hundred thousand to become a mindless idiot

This quiet massive group will continue to quietly walk away. This will be a wonderful thing to see. Smartest move those students who rejected the jab ever made. Generally speaking, colleges are overrated. Who in their right mind wants to pay for

So why are the Nazicrats Democrats flooding the country with illiterate, unskilled uneducated peasants from South America that cannot speak the language in the expectation of eventually buying their votes by keeping them confined to the economic plantations of government dependence? Enrollment decline is due to higher tuition costs, corruption and
College’s Leftist Political Agenda over a practical and meaningful education!
Nope, it’s because so many are just tired of having to answer questions the
way the Marxists want them to so that they can get a degree and try to earn a living.
It’s because you go to college and then can’t get a job because you can’t convince an employer that you actually even know how to think. It’s because the skills you get from gender studies don’t even help you figure out how to work at McDonalds.
LOL……… sure that’s the reason…. Maybe young people are FINALLY realizing that
4 years + of college does not automatically get them a desk job and six figure income. McDonalds IS raising their starting pay to $15 an hour though.

We demand the nationalization of #Google
Corporation for human rights violations and to give it to the stronghold of democracy – America. It is impossible to allow such large corporations that can influence the opinion
of humanity, so that there are private companies that are corrupt and write their own laws contrary to international laws, suppressing all the rights of humanity. Google Corporation should be nationalized by the bulwark of democracy – #America

Well maybe the American people can pay for illegals to go to college, they push abortions, then complain about low population growth, they push abortions, then say we need all these illegals to fill in the gaps. This is the liberals’ bullshit spin. I think college enrollment is down because people including college students aren’t interested in their woke shit.

College Enrollment Declines… as more and more parents are now awake to the fact
that Colleges are no more than Frankfurt Schools of “Critical Theory”… destroyers of civilizations!

Yeah,…they have to pose it as something other than what it really is!
People are perhaps getting a little smarter and FINALLY waking up to
the fact they HAVE ALL been played for SUCKERS for years!!
People have been paying EXORBITANT tuitions and fees, giving fortunes in endowments to these COMMUNIST iNDOCTRINATION CENTERS ..that,..instead of teaching their kids how to actually be prepared for the workforce,.. instead, TO HATE AMERICA,

WE HAVE SEXUALLY PERVERTED, CRT AMERICA HATING ASSWIPE!!!

HOW DO YOU LIKE IT SO FAR???

People are starting to realize they’re not getting anything of value for their money.
It won’t be long until those institutions of “higher education” will be asking for a bailout.
More likely, the decline is a result of a growing awareness among parents that communist
ideas and actions are being formulated and carried out on college campuses all over America.

Higher education is now self-destruction.
The reason enrollment is down IS because of the covid mandates and the outrageous cost. Colleges should loan these kids money for tuition. Why? because that would stop them from graduating them with a worthless degree. More likely a lack of intelligent professors! Nowadays, self-taught people are the intelligent ones! Knowledge is power, but deception is evil!

No, not reallyit’s just that a college degree in some contrived course doesn’t mean shit when you’re working in a Starbucks coffee shop. Colleges haven’t cared about real world applications for years, they don’t care about employment outcomes, they just want the dollars, some people have wised up and are learning on the job.

Learn a trade and get experience.
You will earn more money than working for a corporation unless you are the CEO.

My sons went to community college and majored in precision machinery and welding.
They haven’t had a problem finding good paying jobs and they also don’t have any
student loan debt.

That’s because a college degree is highly overrated, and certainly overpriced.
Go to trade school, or go get a CDL. You’ll always have a steady job, and income with that. Besides; all colleges and universities do now, is “indoctrinate” and “brainwash” kids, to hate their own country, and play the “victim.” Go to work, work hard, and save and invest your money. Hustle, hustle, hustle!

Each state needs to support our community colleges and work with industries to give them the skilled labor they need. Each state needs to work with colleges so we have Computer experts, Educators, Doctors etc. Go back to supporting local and state level and get the federal government out of all of the schools.

Get NIH out of Colleges like UNC and Penn
Went to a high-level university (MBA) and I can say it was a complete waste of effort and time. I wrote checks for tuition, so I wasn’t saddled with debt but ultimately it did nothing for me (other than warp my expectations in my 20s).

WE ALL PRAY, TRULY PRAY THAT THESE ONCE ILLUSTRIOUS, PATRIOTIC AND FREE SPEECH ‘TEACHING’ INSTITUTIONS, ALL GO BROKE.

Maybe enrollment is down because people are waking up to the scam that college is.
It is an indoctrination program to socialism. Funny how secular college enrollment is growing, which helps prove my point. Young people are also catching on that American colleges are an indoctrination and financial scam. They have told me so.

It’s called WOKE. Vaccine mandates. Masks.
And the lack of preparation for the “real world” in employment. The lack of free speech
on campus. The authoritarianism of professors and one-sided curriculum. Who needs a college diploma to take 6 weeks to complete a task that takes five minutes of actual work!?

Plus, that is four-six years less of DEI/CRT classes!?
It’s no accident that those who believe everything the government tells them, like open borders, transgenderism, climate change BS and globalism are about 30% of the public. That’s the same percentage that’s college educated. How many dollars does it take for the educational establishment to lower one’s IQ by 10 points?

And the cost keeps going up About $25,000 to $40,000 and going up. It’s a lot cheaper and quicker if you just pick up a “College for Dummies manual” at the local book store.
All of the BS of equality and inclusiveness that teaches discrimination in reality.

If you’re going to send your kids to college, choose online universities.
Most colleges have full-time curriculums. My kids went full-time, all 4 years online. There’s less pressure from peers and less interaction/brainwashing from professors. Granted a lot of the curriculum is still liberal leaning, it’s a lot less influential.
Plus, it’s cheaper and your kids can stay home, and you can monitor them.

My son, who is currently a sophomore in high school, was invited to be part of a 9-day engineering experience at many of the nation’s top schools like Duke, Columbia or Yale. As they began to re-open, students were expected to comply with mandates demanding they wear face masks, be fully vaccinated and social distance or quarantine to mitigate spread of the virus. Some schools, including Yale, Fordham and Harvard University, still update their vaccine mandates to reflect the latest booster. Other schools, like Rhode Island College, require students to wear masks in certain on-campus settings.

2) The awareness that technical skills like electrician, plumber, auto mechanics,
mean more than fluffy degrees in gender stuff and BS in art studies…etc.
3) the increase in school administrators (Harvard has just a bit fewer than professors),
4) The use of poorly paid and treated adjunct teachers Etc.

Only STEM fields (plus medicine and law) require advanced degrees and anybody with half a brain understands that a worthless degree which smothers a young person with debt is just plain stupid. In years gone by, a liberal arts degree proved to employers that the person possessing it is reliable and has an IQ in the triple digits at least, those where the days before colleges became ridiculously expensive theme parks.
Those institutions deserve to fade away as do the so-called professors who are hired because of their politics and not their ability. Everyone who has the ability to learn and is conscientious is valuable. Going to college no longer means anything, it was the colleges themselves that made this true. Bring back apprenticeships and trade schools for manufacturing/engineering and we can become a self-sufficient nation again.

I hold a B.S. and an M.S., and I should have gone to trade school 30 yrs. ago!
GO LEARN A TRADE(S)! And get a B.S. online if you so desire as well… Now, welding, there are some dangers but strides in safety over the years have made the trade much safer! And an electrician, you will get zapped here and there…HVAC, you will be on a roof (in particular if you go the industrial route) during the dog days of summer…

Knowing what I know now…I wouldn’t recommend college to anyone at this point.
These Universities take federal money and are beholden to the government. Therefore, Leftist Professors teach their Liberal crap and when your kid makes it out of there. You don’t even know who they are! Plus, the fact that either they’re in debt or the parents are. Not one of my kids utilizes the degree that they graduated with and 2 out of the 3 were Liberals when they came out.
College Enrollment Decline is Due To Insane College Tuition & Due to The Woke Culture!
No Longer Are Colleges Educational Learning Centers, Rather Indoctrination Centers! Students Would Be Much Further Ahead Getting A Technical Degree Making 6 figure salaries & Much Less Debt!

We have a Shortage of Skilled People!

Yes, this is why the left has gotten so aggressive in pushing their cultural
poison in K-12 schools. Fewer kids are going to college, and I can see Why?

📜 Spiritual Direction 📜

Drifting deeper into… Trina Christine Mason – YouTube
…madness… your dreams… the darkness… all of the above?

Let your energy be used to build, not destroy…
“The one who listens understands “Sending love to you all as I enjoy the process
of loving self-development. I have some wonderful things lined up for 2023 that I am looking forward to! Also, everyone who has reached out to me for opportunities to work together you will be personally replied to with open times after payments are processed!
I am so honored to be holding space & being a part of this lifetime with you!

Thank you for your constant support & invitations.
The acceptance and affection is really so valuable. My attention has been on some art projects I am currently creating. Gift giving is a way I enjoy showing love. Expressing emotions & celebration through the initiation. Exploring new mixed mediums & forms.

I have not experienced many of the things I am attempting to navigate & am restoring generously to my approval. As I am evolving through each discomfort I am expanding
& in constant remembrance of what is pleasing to my heart.

I am no longer in disbelief. I am here to be a reminder.
I am here to be a symbol, a sign and a wonder. I am here to praise the one who sent me.
I cannot deny transparency. Being truthful is an offering of love. Even if it is not what is expected or demanding, the truth is always the best offering. I enjoy integrity & identify how it contributes to happiness.

We are an instrument being tuned by the hand of God to play a part in the giant picture. Together we are the giant symphony orchestrated into harmony resonance.
Forgive freely & allow there to be a space for forgiveness. Imagine great outcomes.
We are all in this together. Aho mitakuye oyasin.

Are you full of lies & judgements?
Not just about yourself and how you are the best or that you are no good.
Thoughts & feelings about how things “should” be? Doubting & disbelief that life is great? Is bitterness at the root of your judgement? Is your heart hurting? Is it possible you are in ignorance of the deeper truth? Are you in an obsession? Sad? Extreme attachment that is causing you grief?

Are you in a world of deceit & deceiving others of your true self?
Are you in a stance of avoidance? Is your heart full of hate & calluses?
Do you have intrusive thoughts that make you miserable & you do not choose
to think or believe any more? If you are answering yes to any of these questions,

then my offering is just for YOU. 🌼

🌈 I am inviting you to practice meditation & mindfulness with me.
In our program together we will begin to look deeply inward & take inventory.
Are you willing to empty yourself? Are you able to notice that you are storytelling
& in a world of make believe. Assuming the feelings & ideas of others that may not be true? Let me help you see you. I will help you love to you and see why God has brought you here now. I will encourage you to notice your purpose & greatest intentions to do with your life.

I will assist you to no longer forget your importance & to remind you that you do not have to be the one to measure your own heart or the meaning of others. Let us have an analysis of the self. I am here for those who are truly ready & I am excited to begin our work.
Look at yourself deeply & how you are treating yourself, others, & how your relationships are going? Do you choose for us to have unity? Are you in transactional relationships?

This is your invitation to have a deep dive within your inner world! 🌟

You can do this on your own without me! 💫

YOU DO NOT NEED ME TO HEAL YOURSELF &
SERVE YOURSELF YOUR HIGHEST GOOD!

🌈 Take time to listen deeply to what is inside of your heart! ❤️‍🔥

Give yourself permission to have complete enjoyment! 💯

If you are having difficulty doing this because of your thoughts / feelings,

Appreciation for the congratulations for those who are called to know their true identity!

This is for those of you who are tired of negativity!

This is for you who is ready to take the mask off!
This is for you who knows that your life is meant for so much more!
This will require you to not grow tired of the narratives of your own soul &
to actually indulge in deeply listening & witnessing these parts of yourself!

I will encourage you to lean in to not believing every thought & to attempt to watch the thoughts instead of wearing them, identifying with them & letting them express in tones
or lenses that you are not enjoying.

Sometimes we enjoy letting the talker in our head talk. Sometimes we enjoy being
sad or mad or agreeing with it. Sometimes it is automatic & we have no self-control.
Sometimes we dissociate & separate ourselves from our feelings. It helps to notice. Remember you can change your thinking, beliefs, conditions, your habits,
your behaviors, your internal landscaping & your environment.

💪 If you are challenged by your emotions and thoughts & have internal conflict, this offering of mindfulness & meditation is for you. I will be so happy to help you practice & to be with you during your transition to positive thinking & positive emotions!
Consider it a practice & in working together with me, we get to work on it together!
This offering is for you who is called to look deeper & give your life more meaning.
This is for you who is ready to let go of unhealthy attachments! I am celebrating!
