This includes Rep. Mayra Flores, who won a special election this summer
Cassy Garcia will take on Dem Rep. Henry Cuellar and Irene Armendariz-Jackson, who quit her job as a realtor, will go against Dem Rep. Veronica Escobar.
The November election comes just a month-and-a-half after figures released this week shows more than 2 million migrants have crossed at the border this year.

The wives of border patrol agents are running for Congress after becoming fed up with what their husbands have to deal with under President Joe Biden‘s immigration policies.
Of the three running for Congress, Representative Mayra Flores already won a special election in June to replace a Democratic congressman who left mid-term in Texas‘
34th congressional district.
The other two are Cassy Garcia, who beat out six other Republicans to take on Democrat Representative Henry Cuellar and Irene Armendariz-Jackson, who quit
her job as a Realtor in El Paso to challenge Democratic Representative Veronica Escobar.
If Garcia and Armendariz-Jackson are successful, Republicans will only need to flip two more House seats in the 2022 midterm elections to win back a majority in the lower chamber.
Predictions have shown for months that Democrats would lose the House in November’s election. The three women’s focus on border issues has won them broad support from conservatives in the border state.

Figures released from August show that Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has encountered more than 2 million migrants in 2022 – and there’s still one
more month left of reporting before the end of the fiscal year.
There has also been a record-breaking number of migrant deaths along
the border with 780 reported this year.
‘The support they’re not receiving from the administration — it’s unbelievable,’
Garcia said, according to the Washington Examiner.
She also slammed Vice President Kamala Harris’ role in addressing
the southern border crisis. ‘I think she’s still trying to figure out the root causes, right?
We know what the root causes are, right? They’re not enforcing laws,’ Garcia, a former senior aide to Texas Senator Ted Cruz, said.
Garcia’s husband has been a border agent for 26 years and is challenging Cuellar, who has served for nine terms in a district that encompasses a large portion of the southern border and spans into the state toward San Antonio.
Armendariz-Jackson will take on Escobar, who succeeded Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke, in the Lone Star State’s 16th congressional district, which also includes part of the border with Mexico but further north than Cuellar’s current district.

Her husband had to retire early from the Border Patrol after 24 years due to vaccine mandates. ‘After 24 years, today will be my husband’s last day serving as a Border Patrol agent,’ she announced on Twitter in December 2021.
‘Due to Biden’s tyrannical vaccine mandate, he has had to take an early retirement,’
she added. ‘He has served El Paso & America well — he truly loved his job.
This is a sad day for our family.’
In her thread at the time, Armendariz-Jackson said her husband was lucky to take an
early retirement, adding that others had to quit at a time in the middle of their career. Armendariz-Jackson quit her job as a realtor in El Paso to run against Escobar.
All three women secured the party nomination in March.
Flores also won a special election in June for a seat the incumbent left to become a lobbyist. he Republican lawmaker is married to a Border Patrol agent and has made border security a top focus of her campaign, which continues for November.
‘We have a border that is completely out of control,’ Flores said, according to the Examiner. ‘It’s not just a humanitarian crisis. It’s also a national security crisis.’
‘Our Border Patrol are focused on women and children.
They’re not able to focus on the terrorists coming in.’
