TARA COYOTE

My name is Tara Coyote — Wind Horse Sanctuary

I’m 51 years old. I was born and grew up in Saratoga, CA. I now live in Kauai, Hawaii.
I teach Equine Facilitated Learning (horses healing humans).
I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in September 2016. It spread to stage 4 two years ago and I came very close to dying as it spread to multiple places in my body. After heavy treatment and my hip breaking from bone metastasis, I am now grateful to be in remission.

What (or who) inspired you and why did you want to be involved in this project?
I saw Brittney Beadles photos about her time with Erena and it inspired me to want
to try it! I have always loved the water and it seemed like a fun way to celebrate all the challenges I have been through.
What were your plans for the photo shoot? What are you expecting from it?
I did not really have plans as I didnt know what to expect.

I was very excited to try it.

I told Erena I had not been in the water very much in the last year, but the thought of being in a warm, salt water pool was very appealing. I was drawn to Erena from seeing
her photos, website and watching some of her videos and saw what a beautiful, inspired person she is. It seemed like a perfect way to celebrate my life and overcome adversity!

How was the experience with an underwater portrait session?
It was lovely. Some of it was more challenging than I had expected like holding my breath and figuring out poses underwater. I had the most fun wearing the mermaid tale, that was a lot of fun and felt natural and easy for me!

How was your mood after you finished?
That is hard to describe. I felt elevated and excited after being in the water.
I also felt a bit shaken up. (I think the shook-up part is because I have been holding so much stress around a very stressful circumstance in my life. I realized when I was in the water how much stress I have been carrying.) This was a good thing for me to realize!
I think my experience of being with you was a powerful way to release tension
and come to a place of self-realization and healing.

I was super proud of myself for facing a bit of fear of using my mermaid tale actually!
I had been hesitant to try it and was excited to see after doing it that it was quite easy for me!
Being in the water with the fabric was difficult for me as I felt the fabric quite heavy in the water. (The white material).
It would have been nice to have more time to connect with Erena afterwards but I knew we had to go as a class was happening. I was grateful for the experience and for her loving open heart. 😉

What does WATER mean to you?
Do you think this experience could help overcoming your trauma?
Would you go back to the water again?

Yes for sure! I would do it again after practicing a bit more to get comfortable with the sensation of being under the water. I felt a bit of shyness being photographed as being deep in the water is such a private experience for me.
In the past I would dive down in the water, swim underwater like a dolphin and feel very much at home. Knowing a camera was pointed at me was a whole other experience…
Water is a very easy and effortless element for me. I feel at home in the water.
Yes, this experience did help me overcome my trauma; it helped me embrace
all that my body has been through…
How did you sleep the night of the photo shoot? Compared to the usual days?
Hmmmmmm I slept very deeply. Just realized that!!! 😉 I had a deep restful sleep.

How was Erena working with you?
She is/was wonderful! She helped me feel safe in a new challenging situation. She helped me put my tail on 😉 I was nervous to try that. She was very encouraging and loving throughout the process. I felt a bit like a dimwit in certain moments with my dress and the fabric as I didnt know if I was doing it right. (Oh the attachment to perfection!!). Then when I put the tail on, a vast sense of fun and playfulness came forth. That was wonderful!! That is when I relaxed and had fun with the experience
It was thanks to her that I tried that. I almost got frustrated with putting the tail on and stopped. Thanks to her help I got it on!! So thank you!!

Would you recommend underwater transformation to other survivors or anyone?
Yes for sure! I will definitely recommend it to my friends and thriver friends
I think it is a brilliant way to reclaim your body, play and enjoy the blessings of being
in a human body. Its a wonderful way to face fear. You are such a great holder of space.
Thank you, Tara for working with me! I have one more question. How did you get into the horse healing business and what is your relationship with the horses?

I was a horse crazy little girl who constantly begged her parents for a horse.
Despite my desperate pleas, I never got my dream horse. (This was actually a shame as
I would have been less of a trouble-making teenager if I had a horse!) When puberty hit
I forgot all about horses, until I read the bestselling book by Linda Kohanov,
The Tao of Equus. Lindas book helped me remember that I had loved horses as a youth. A few years later a very traumatic incident occurred in my picture perfect, Pilates studio owner life in Marin County, CA which threw my world utterly upside down. This event left me devastated.

To pull myself out of the shadows, I was called to spend time with the horses again.
Through each horse encounter I slowly began to thread my life back together again.
The experience of being with the horses affected me so deeply that I was inspired to
sell my successful Pilates studio and eventually buy a horse ranch. I can honestly say
that the horses saved my life.

Over a few years time I became trained through Linda Kohanovs organization Eponaquest as an Equine Facilitated Learning teacher. I created a horse retreat center (Wind Horse Sanctuary) in Nevada City, CA (Northern Ca.) In my five years of running the retreat center hundreds of people attended one- and three-day workshops, Grief Rituals with Horses and stayed at the tranquil sanctuary with my gorgeous herd of four horses.
I now live happily on my ancestral land in Kauai, Hawaii in an off the grid yurt on 3.5 acres where my two horses roam freely on the property. I am soon to publish my book Grace, Grit and Gratitude about how horses have been a powerful healing force throughout the last eight years of my life.

I am blessed to know horses so deeply.

The Tomaszewsky Story

This is Irene and when we learned of Walter’s diagnosis in November of 2011, we were devastated, and couldn’t understand why or how this would have happened to us.

How could he have stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma when he went
for a physical every year and always had a clean bill of health.
We sought expert opinions from top hospitals and specialists, all of whom recommended a stem cell transplant, with no guarantee of success.  This process,  not only,  involved bringing my husband virtually to the brink of death with no certainty of an outcome,  but also, would have a negative effect on me as his caregiver and spouse. We quickly realized that this was a serious  illness,  but at the time,  were unaware of  the emotional, mental, and physical factors that contributed to the manifestation of the disease.

Utterly overwhelmed and frightened, we told the doctors that we would take 3 months
to decide.  During that time we immersed ourselves in research.  Through this research
we adopted an alternative protocol where we made significant changes to his diet using alkaline water, also therapeutic essential oils, natural supplements and complementary therapies. We did not only wanted to get rid of cancer but also transform Walters life to create a powerful and lasting life.  With just 5 weeks the indicators and testing methods started registering normal. We were so encouraged with these results we continued with the integrated alternative methods,  and  continued  to see improvement several months afterward.  In eight months time,  the PET scan showed the cancer had not grown… but was dying, and his blood counts were normalizing.

One year out from his diagnosis, we were so blessed and thought that we were home free. We had successfully treated his entire body, but as I also mentioned, we were still unaware of the emotional and mental ramifications.  Walter changed his diet, cleaned his food of toxins and put nothing but organic products into his body. However we did failed to recognize that the great emotional stress he was under was preventing a full recover.

What I learned through new friends I met and the research I did on different healing modalities was that …. our physical bodies manifest what’s going on at our mental and emotional levels.  In my husband’s case, he was not willing to see the causes of the pain and anger in his life until his body quite literally forced the issue. As well the cancer was steadily dying  and under control when he was bitten by a spider and developed a staph infection.

Despite a visit to the hospital after the presentation of the spider bite, he was assured that there were no serious affects that could compromise his bodily systems, yet he did continue to feel worse every day. Soon enough, he began to lose the peripheral vision in his left eye and it began to protrude outward, growing in size and increase in redness. After several ophthalmologists were seen, followed by a cancer specialist, it was finally determined the cancer had moved behind the eyes.  As his left eye vision … had rapidly deteriorated in just five months from 20/20 to 20/80. The infection had reignited the lymphoma.

We were at a fork in the road and faced with a decision. We had done so much work
to get rid of the cancer, and the natural methods we were using were working, so we couldn’t imagine him taking chemotherapy and infusing his body  with poison. On the other hand, he was losing his eyesight very fast, and we were worried that he would lose his eye totally. While the natural methods were always our first preference, the speed at which the eyesight was going was the  factor that influenced us to accept the chemo.

When you open the space  for true healing to occur, and trust your inner wisdom, you will find the strength you need to connect with all the right resources and take the right steps.  He was able to realize that despite our misgivings, chemotherapy was the right course of action at this crossroad and accepted it with confidence and support of  his alternative protocol to boost his immune system, it would help. Consequently, after just one chemo session, his eyesight returned to a normal, 20/20…

The  full chemotherapy protocol — a total of six chemotherapy treatments once every     28 days  for six months – was required, so  he  took  all  six.  Because we had built up his immune system and  fortified his body through natural means, he suffered only minimal intensity of  the resultant  side effects.  He was able to tolerate  and absorb the remainder of the chemo treatments with no long-term damage to his body and no hair loss, while he continued to work 27 hours a week.  Additionally, no  follow — up pharmaceuticals were necessary to counteract the chemo.

Around the same time, Walter acknowledged that there was a  mental and emotional component to his illness and became open and agreeable to investigating and addressing this.  It was then when he stopped completely resisting the investigation of his emotional stressors that his recovery quickly progressed.  After just a few counseling appointments and therapeutic sessions,  he was able to clear the emotional issues that were destroying his life.

While many possible roads exist on the path of wellness,  knowing your options and following the inner wisdom  that comes  from a higher power are critical to good health.  You’ll know the steps to take if you accept the truth that wellness comes from integrating your body, mind, and spirit.  In order to get well and stay well,  we urge you to consider all your resources.
For the physical healing,  investigate the entire spectrum of natural possibilities, supplemented  by  conventional medicine  and  chemical interventions  if  absolutely necessary.  At the mental  and  emotional level,  be open  to acknowledging  the toxic situations in your life experience, and take steps to move them or shift your negative thinking around them in order to bring joy and good health back into your life.
There are many skilled and caring practitioners who can provide you with the tools and techniques you need.  Seek them out  and  work with them,  but remember that you are empowered, the one in control of your own destiny who ultimately drives your own outcome. And above all, remember your divine connection.  ALSO, Like the famous Footprints in the Sand, know that there’s a loving presence in your life to carry you when you lack the strength  to — go — on —  your own,  as you are never alone.

We have both learned many lessons that we feel blessed to share with you.  I say “we” because as husband and wife,  we traveled the road together,  and this made the journey possible. We also connected with many other people who helped us along the way, many of whom we still are in touch with today.
We are happy to report: Walter remains cancer free since Aug. of 2013. We built this website to offer you support  for whatever your particular journey is, and to provide you with access to many of the resources we used along the way.  We wish you good health, joy and the blessing of time.

Trina Christine Mason

On the shuffleboard of life we need to wait & tie up with God like we are in a 3-legged race.

I am starting classes again 🕊️

This semester I am taking abnormal psychology & beginning throwing ❤️
If Loving and Learning Living Life to its fullest is therapeutic TCM Has life down to
a science. In this class I am going to be learning how to create pottery from scratch!
I will be doing the whole process including the glazing! I can’t believe this counts as
a prerequisite to my psychology degree! How cool is that?!

I am really looking forward to this semester 🤠

I have 5 classes left after this until I am complete with my AA!

I am the kind of person who would be perfectly happy being a lifetime student and professional student.

If I was a financially rich person I would be in college & take classes endlessly. ❤️
I would love to study & learn braille, neuroscience, communication, speaking, understanding, and reading Hebrew, Arabic, Swahili, etymology / linguistics, how
to weave, how to create a basket, how to dye clothes with natural resources used in traditional historical ways, engineering, draw blueprints, fashion design, iridology.

Also how to create jams and learning how to can and preserve food, survival skills, etiology, color science, architecture, philosophy, counseling, holistic, medicine, nutrition, medical intuition, physics, behavioral engineering, journalism, how to create a fire without matches or fuels, and a PhD in creativity are just a few things that would interest me

to dedicate my life to learning and acquiring. 😉 📝

I am intrinsically overtly a person who cares deeply & intimately for other people,
plants, and other life forms. I genuinely enjoy serving in this manner & have an ability to
attune to the needs of another without feeling like it is a personal sacrifice of my wellbeing.

I am passionate about the idea of community & working together as a global village.
I am gifted at being able to see facts of us all being interconnected & related.
This is a subject matter I enjoy being an educator & role model for.

I believe it is still possible to cocreate and cooperate together in harmony.
Are you a willing participant to receive affection & give your voice?
Are you a believer in the fact that we could potentially help one another if we
were open hearted to give what we have inherited after investing our lives?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].

So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth
(personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”
Now to you who believe, this stone is precious.
But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected.
has become the cornerstone,”

We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love,
and because we believe him when he tells us that he loves us dearly .

God is love, and anyone who lives in love is living

with God and God is living in him. ❤️ 👼 🕊️

I am really in love with creating ceramics ❤️

I created this piece from slabs from @clayhouse_anacortes & using their templates 🧩

I have been in college this semester working on the wheel taking a beginner’s throwing class as my final elective as I am now 5 classes away from graduating with my associate

in arts degree 📜

Making pottery on the wheel has been more of a challenge than slabs and templates! Pottery is something that can only be learned by being hands on & not something my teacher can really teach to me! 🎨

Looking forward to after the holiday & having more hours in the classroom to practice! In the meantime I have finished my abnormal psychology homework & finished the reading the assigned chapter for this week 📚 🤓

It has been so extremely cold here too! I am still not fully conditioned to this & I am still not fully equipped with the best wearble garments! Sometimes I feel like I am still learning how to layer & be dressed warm enough. There’s moments of thinking I did warm enough with three pants & three shirts, then going outside to realize NOPE! NEED MORE WARMY THINGS 🥶 ❄️

I am also totally that girl that wants her own sense of fashion PLUS pretty warmly things that cover my needs! 💃 I have been exploring amazon for high quality
wool with great reviews & for things that seem to be a good fit for me!

My birthday is coming up! I have been in collecting and gathering mode!

The hunt is half the fun.
Things that don’t resonate I enjoy giving to others who will enjoy ❤️ 💫

It has been a process!

I have a few awesome staple pieces however it is a job to wash them multiple times to have them clean to wear multiple times a week!

On the bright side, the sunshine has been out more than “normal” and that has some tremendous positive effects on my mental & emotional well being!

I feel like I am learning so much more about myself since I moved here to Washington from Florida and arrived on December 29 2020 at 4 am 🏔️ ❤️

I am turning 32 years old this year 🥳

My birthday is on February 26 🕊️ 💜

🗣️ I would love to meet more people & have many more fulfilling conversations!!!

I am also considering mediation certification 🤝 Trina Christine 🌹

DR. FRANCISCO CONTRERAS

Dr. Francisco Contreras – Alternative Medical Doctor – Healing Cancer In This Century

Coincidences: are a Faith-based Perspective? | Cancer Quick Facts (solitarius.org)

Dr. Francisco Contreras is director, president & chairman of the Oasis of Hope Hospital. Alternative Cancer Treatments in Tijuana, Mexico | Oasis of Hope
A distinguished oncologist and surgeon, Contreras is renowned for combining conventional and alternative medical treatments with emotional & spiritual
support to provide patients with the most positive treatment experience possible.

DR. ERNESTO CONTRERAS, SR. – Oasis of Hope Hospital

Oasis of Hope was founded by Contreras’ father, Dr. Ernesto Contreras, Sr. in 1963, and since then the hospital has provided integrative cancer treatment for more than 100,000 patients. As director, Dr. Francisco Contreras – Search Videos (bing.com) continues the practice of his father’s two fundamental principles – do no harm and treat the patient as yourself. Today, Contreras oversees the treatment of 800 cancer patients annually.
After graduating with honors from medical school at the Autonomous University of Mexico in Toluca, Contreras studied alternative therapy at the Oasis of Hope Hospital.
He completed his specialty in surgical oncology at the University of Vienna in Austria, where he also graduated with honors.

Contreras has authored and co-authored several books concerning integrative therapy, cancer and heart disease prevention and chronic illness, including “The Hope of Living Cancer Free,” “The Hope of Living Long and Well,” “Fighting Cancer 20 Different Ways” and “Dismantling Cancer.” His newest book with co-author Daniel E. Kennedy, “Hope, Medicine & Healing,” is scheduled for release in fall 2008.
In addition to writing for numerous medical journals, Contreras has participated in medical conferences such as the World Conference on Breast Cancer and is active in the Cancer Control Society. He has been a part of governmental organizations, including the Georgia House of Representatives Health Policy Task Force and the Japanese Medical Association. He has also been on special assignment to Slovakia as a member of the Mexican Health Advisory Board.
A qualified entry-level professional motorcycle racer, Contreras says that racing is similar to performing surgery in that it requires 100 percent focus. Contreras and his wife, Rosa, have four daughters and one son. The family attends church in Bonita, Calif., and enjoys skiing and traveling.

Dr. Francisco Contreras on the Vital Role of Faith in Fighting Cancer | CBN

An an interview with Dr. Francisco Contreras, principal at the Oasis of Hope Clinic in Mexico, a world leading Hospital for alternative cancer treatments; the centre puts patients first, using non-invasive metabolic therapy, combining ozone therapy, pancreatic enzymes, vitamin C mega-doses and B-17.

Mexican Wave
Francisco Contreras loves Renaissance art, music and riding motorbikes. He has just written a book about Italy and is in the midst of his cancer tour. He intends to take three days off, and is having his leathers shipped over from Mexico so he can take a motorbike up into the Alps.
Francisco Contreras is also passionate about helping people with cancer. He truly feels he has a calling and is devoutly Christian.
His hospital, The Oasis of Hope, is a world class facility and people come from all over the world to be treated. Last Christmas people from nineteen different nations were sitting down to lunch together.
The hospital caters for all disciplines with the exception of neonatal and when I was in California I heard radio commercials inviting the ill to attend. But the reputation of Contreras and The Oasis of Hope is resolutely based around cancer treatment.

Open quotesLiving with the cancer, enjoying life anyway, being alive five years later, is successClose quotes
The great majority of patients arriving in Mexico have grade four cancers, about as bad as you can get. Contreras believes one of the first challenges is changing cancer patient’s expectations of cure. “Doctors have sold people on the goal of getting rid of the cancer 100 percent and this expectation is completely unrealistic.
If they take a picture after the treatment and the cancer is still there then there is gloom, the treatment has failed”, he opines. In his view, “Living with the cancer, enjoying life anyway, being alive five years later, is success. It’s like a good marriage. You don’t bother me and I don’t bother you”, he laughs. In his view, happiness with your life and your cancer is linked to your expectations.

Three Levels Of Treatment
Happiness is an important cancer-fighting emotion at The Oasis.
Indeed Contreras defines his treatment programme as providing the patient with three resources: emotional, spiritual and physical. Of the three he immediately jumps to talk about the second.
“People who do well with us often have ’spiritual fortitude’ – their view on life is so different. If you view your life as just a little part of eternity, the fear factor of cancer becomes a secondary problem. We acknowledge all faiths and beliefs but we don’t hide the fact that we are Christians. We believe your ticket to eternity in heaven is Jesus Christ and we counsel patients in the teachings of the Bible. We have two people in a patient’s room praying for the patients and we have daily participation meetings”. In fact, the walls are covered with scripture, there is a chaplain and live-in missionaries at The Oasis of Hope.

Open quotesEmotional well-being is also tended toClose quotes
Emotional well-being is also tended to. Contreras tells of a lady who arrived with a bad case of breast cancer. At The Oasis of Hope they encourage partners to attend too; even to sleep with the patient in the all-private hospital. So at the preliminary meeting, Contreras was interviewing the patient with her husband in attendance. Or at least trying to! Every time he asked her a question, the husband answered! In the end he kicked the husband out of the room and, seemingly for the first time in her life she was free to get things ’off her chest’. Contreras recommended counselling, she met with a counsellor every day for two weeks and left a new woman with her cancer in regression. He didn’t say what happened to her husband!

Go To: 18 days at the Oasis of Hope Clinic in Mexico – a patient view

Other aspects of emotional well-being are attended to, from laughter – “laughing stimulates the immune system better than any drug” – to music and even the colour of the hospital room. They organise meetings with jokes, and ’sing-alongs’ at The Oasis of Hope.
We talked about research from an American Hospital that people who were more argumentative survived longer. “We are very clear. People who are more determined, beat it”, he says. Of course, it is the third level of treatment that excites him most; the physical. But more of that later.

A Little History on the Oasis of Hope Clinic
The origins of the hospital concern a lady called Cecile Hoffman. Francisco’s father Ernesto had started a free clinic for the poor called the Good Samaritan after time as a doctor in the Mexican military, and his mother had become a nurse there. Cecile had cancer and turned up in Mexico requesting that Ernesto administer laetrile to her. She had obtained supplies in Canada, but found no American hospital would use it for her benefit. And so a link to cancer and laetrile was founded.

Open quotesHe thought about training in music but the call of medicine was too strongClose quotes
Francisco grew up around all this. Often he would have to give up his bed as the clinic over the road overflowed. He thought about training in music but the call of medicine was too strong. After medical school in Taluca, Mexico City and Pasadena, California he spent five years studying surgical oncology in Vienna.
Meanwhile the Mexican Authorities had shut the laetrile clinic and a new hospital called Del Mar, had been opened in its place by Ernesto. Francisco started there but wanted a world-class facility and in 1984 the all new, state of the art Hospital Ernesto Contreras opened in its place.

Building The Patient Relationship
Ernesto taught Francisco, especially reminding him of the roots and reasons for their mission.
Their practice has two fundamental principles:
1: Do no harm.
2: Treat the patient as yourself.
No therapy was off-limits as long as it was potentially effective and covered the two points above. Such “open-mindedness” is the essence and the point of difference in The Oasis of Hope, but of course it brings its critics.
Since treatments are planned individually they may include laetrile or ozone therapy, bringing criticism from official medical authorities in the USA; and they may include radiotherapy or chemotherapy, bringing criticism from alternative, natural practitioners. As Francisco himself says, “Of course, chemotherapy is a valid option and we do use it sometimes. But we just don’t necessarily find it that effective! “I spoke with other Mexican clinics who indeed described the hospital bizarrely as too orthodox!

Open quotesChemotherapy is a valid option and we do use it sometimesClose quotes
In 1996 at the suggestion of a patient, the hospital’s name was changed to The Oasis of Hope, and in 1997 Ernesto handed over the reins to Francisco completely. Although they treat all manner of patients, cancer remains the focus and patient relationship the emphasis.
A course of treatment typically takes around three weeks and the hospital has roughly
180 private rooms. A stay can cost between $US 15,000 and $US 20,000. But Francisco emphasises that treatment is a two-year programme; the first three weeks at The Oasis are more about education and training to enable the patient to continue the programme effectively when they return home.
Francisco emphasises that what gives him most pleasure is turning a victim into a victor; watching the successes which are not necessarily total ’cures’, and building a rapport and a real trust with the patient over what they are doing.
He gets disappointed a little by the FDA and the Mexican FDA hovering all the time in the background, but says they have survived some heavy duty inspections with flying colours, so even that doesn’t concern him so much these days. His biggest disappointment is that there have been so very little advances made with children’s cancer across the world.

Physical Treatments at the Oasis of Hope
The patient relationship comes to the fore from the very start. Contreras is a great admirer of Dr Gerson and their diet programme is based on the Gerson Therapy; indeed Charlotte Gerson’s clinic was inside The Oasis until recently when she set up her own facility also in Mexico. (The space has now been taken by Dr Josef Issels’ widow, Marie Issels, another famous name in Cancer Treatment. Issels started his highly successful integrated cancer practice in 1951).

Open quotesSuccess or failure can depend a lot on the patient’s individual personalityClose quotes
At The Oasis of Hope they have found that success or failure with the Gerson Therapy
can depend a lot on the patient’s individual personality. Some patients simply find it too arduous and drop out, so The Oasis has modified it to where it is practical for most people.
There’s less juicing, just four to five rather than thirteen. It is less strict, with only one or two coffee enemas not five. As Francisco says, “You’ve got to have time to enjoy not having cancer!”

Go To:The Rainbow Diet
But he believes diet plays not just a physical, but a mental role too. “If you smoke, you are telling your body something; you don’t care about it. If every time you eat you are making a sacrifice you are also supplying a message that you care about your body”.
Every patient receives nutritional counselling. The Oasis will use drips, EDTA, polarising solutions, juice fasts, colonic irrigation and coffee enemas coupled with an essentially vegetarian diet, although recently fish has been added in.
To this detoxification programme they add vitamins and supplements often via drips.
This is then the core of the programme, which also usually involves B-17 in the synthetic form, Laetrile.

Go To: Alternative Cancer Treatment ’vitamin’ B-17
“We see B-17 as Nature’s Chemotherapy. It is a wonderful supporting agent for our treatments; we usually combine it with other specific treatments and there is usually synergy. It doesn’t work on all cancers; with sarcomas, primary brain tumours and primary liver tumours we have not had good results, but we still use it because it is a strong supporting agent”.
(You can buy  Apricot Kernels, one of the best natural sources of B-17, in  The Natural Selection shop.)
They use shark cartilage in much the same way to stop tumour spread. When I referred to the early work with shark cartilage and the emphasis that bottled mass-produced products were reportedly near useless, Contreras told me that they always carefully prepared their own from scratch.

Open quotesTreatment is very thorough at The OasisClose quotes
Treatment is very thorough at The Oasis. You are expected to arrive with all your lab. reports and medical history, which they will review to see if previous doctors have missed anything. Then they do all the lab work again as a comparison.
So what else do they use at The Oasis – and what treatments excite him?
“Ozone is our project. It is really most exciting and we are getting real results with it”, says Contreras. To date they have treated almost 1500 patients and use a machine similar to a dialysis machine to ozonate the whole blood system (Ed: Since 75 per cent of the blood in the body is in the poorly oxygenated venous system, the historical problem has always been how to create oxygen overload around the tumour.)

Contreras also increased the PO2 pressure from 100 to 700.
The ozone breaks down into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide, the latter enhancing nitrous
oxide levels and also actually helping deliver oxygenated haemoglobin past the tumour’s defence systems. (Tumours restrict the capillaries feeding them, so oxygen – which kills them – can’t pass into the tumour. Nitrous oxide dilates the blood vessels).
A second benefit Contreras says of ozone therapy is that it increases natural cytokines in the body giving a huge boost to the immune system. Contreras claims that 40 percent of patients see tumour regression of 10 to 30 per cent within 15 days.
Contreras is always on the lookout for new and potentially effective treatments. He is particularly keen to explore the latest developments in China and Russia. One Chinese project, CHML, makes him extremely excited. CHML involves using polypeptides taken from the lipid membranes of animal or plant cells. These polypeptides seem to act as extremely fast and effective antioxidating agents on tumours, providing the delivery system can take them into the tumour. CHML must therefore be injected directly into the tumour, or provided via a catheter into the tumour’s blood supply, otherwise it doesn’t work. This requires phenomenal accuracy and direct access to the tumour.

Open quotesIt will not get approval if the FDA doesn’t know how it worksClose quotes
The Chinese continue to develop these potent polypeptides but the FDA wants exclusive rights to develop the project outside China. According to Contreras the FDA logic for any treatment is simple. It can be miraculously effective, but it will not get approval if the FDA doesn’t know how it works. In the case of CHML the FDA knows exactly how it works and wants exclusive usage. Sadly, for this reason, he may not be able to obtain and use it in Mexico.
By contrast Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) doesn’t seem to interest him. They tried it, had lights everywhere but couldn’t make it work, he claims. In fact, as regular readers know, your intrepid reporter has investigated PDT quite extensively and was surprisingly unconvinced that Contreras knew what he was talking about on PDT(!). Never mind.
So what does the future bring? Contreras feels the most exciting area, long term is Electromagnetic Fields, just as we do at icon.
MRI scanning already uses the basic principles that different tissues resonate at different frequencies and so sonographic waves can be reflected to create pictures of the tissues and any cancer cells. “If we could learn the exact resonance of cancer cells then we could destroy them whilst leaving the surrounding tissues unaffected”, says Contreras. In the past a chap called Dr Royal Rife – yes, really – discovered that cancer cells could withstand very little electricity, far less than normal healthy cells. So he set about mildly electrocuting his patients and even had some successes. Contreras feels that magnets could do a considerably better job!
The Coming Cancer Cure
And so to his book that he is over here in the UK promoting, “The Coming Cancer Cure”. In line with his beliefs he praises Gerson, decries the total lack of spending on cancer prevention, laments the declining nourishment values of modern diets and provides an overview of some future possible “cures” for cancer.

Open quotesCancer is such big business in the USAClose quotes
While the book’s title is upbeat about finding a cancer cure, he himself is far more cynical and he tells the story of treating a congressman. When they discussed his hopes for an eventual cure, he was told that if he took a total cure to the US President tomorrow, he’d “probably be killed!” “Cancer is such big business in the USA”, he says, “bigger than Ford, General Motors and the rest. Imagine the job losses, the losses to the economy!”. Indeed in a number of our conversations he cites “money” as the reason things do or do not happen.

Contreras – Future Perfect
Contreras has two more books planned; one a 40 year history of The Oasis of Hope, the other one on breast cancer. We discuss the icon article, “Oestrogen – the killer in our midst” and he tells me the treatment for breast cancer is simple: anti-oestrogen. We discuss prostate cancer about which he feels the same, however he adds the point that no-one ever died of prostate cancer. He clearly feels that a lot of scare-mongering exists.
Does he want a wave of new “Oases” around the world?
Yes, he’d love it. He has been trying to tie up a deal in England for six months but they haven’t quite overcome funding issues. He has hopes for a hospital in Korea and maybe something in Japan. The Mexican wave is about to encompass the world.
Dr Francisco Contreras is a polite man. The word “charm” springs into your mind after just a few minutes with him; then “knowledge”; then “passion”. It is important to remember he is Mexican, and the hospital started as a hospital for the Mexican poor.
This is definitely not another case of Americans being driven over the border by vested interests
It is clear that his open-minded approach to cancer results in truly integrated cancer treatments and we applaud him for that.
Dr Francisco Contreras is undoubtedly one of icon’s icons and we salute him on behalf of all our readers touched by cancer.

Dr. Contretas and Chis Woollams
Chris Woollams interviewed Dr Contreras at the former Foundation for Natural Health and greatly appreciated the help and generosity of spirit of the late Dr Paul Layman who arranged it all.

MyKayla is celebrating 11 years cancer free today.

Mykayla was one of 2,201 cancer patients authorized
by the state of Oregon to use medical marijuana.
Published: Nov. 24, 2012,

She was 7.
The Oregon Medical Marijuana Program serves 52 children
who have a qualifying medical condition, parental consent and a doctor’s approval
Like adults, most cite pain as a qualifying condition, though many list multiple health problems, including seizures, nausea and cancer.

Allowing adults to consume medical marijuana is gaining acceptance nationwide.
But Mykayla’s story underscores the complex issues that arise when states empower
parents to administer the controversial drug to children.
Oregon’s law, approved by voters 14 years ago, requires no monitoring of a child’s medical marijuana use by a pediatrician. The law instead invests authority in parents to decide the dosage, frequency and manner of a child’s marijuana consumption.

The state imposes no standards for quality, safety or potency in the production of marijuana. Little is known about how the drug interacts with the developing body, leading pediatricians say. A recent international study found sustained cannabis use among teens can cause long-term damage to intellect, memory and attention.

Many doctors worry about introducing a child to marijuana when
they say other drugs can treat pain and nausea more effectively.

By the numbers
Most jurisdictions that have medical marijuana programs — 18 states and Washington, D.C. — permit children to participate with parental consent and a doctor’s approval.

View the numbers for Oregon here .

“It helps me eat and sleep,” she said, nestled against her mother on a couch.
“The chemotherapy makes you feel like you want to stay up all night long.”
Marijuana, she said, “makes me feel funny, happy.”

“She’s like she was before,” her mother said. “She’s a normal kid.”

Diagnosis: leukemia
Mykayla, a sweet girl with a splash of red freckles across her nose and cheeks, started showing cancer symptoms last spring. She was feverish. She had a hacking cough and night sweats. A rash spread on her leg.

Purchase, 25 at that time, worried that her daughter had Lyme disease or pneumonia.
A Pendleton doctor suspected strep throat and put her on antibiotics.

But Mykayla’s health worsened. Purchase took her to a Hermiston pediatrician,
who found a mass in the girl’s chest.

Purchase and Krenzler, 27, drove Mykayla to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel that afternoon. The following day she was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. “My whole life is her,” said Purchase,
who became pregnant with Mykayla when she was a 17-year-old high school senior.

“I was so scared of losing her. It was heartbreaking.”
Leukemia is the most common childhood cancer, striking an estimated
3,800 American children each year. Mykayla has T-cell leukemia, an aggressive
form of the disease that affects 10 to 15 percent of patients.

Immediately, Purchase, who is divorced from Mykayla’s father and
has sole custody, faced decisions about her daughter’s treatment.

With chemotherapy, doctors put Mykayla’s odds of survival at 76.9 percent and
her chance of relapse at 7 percent, Purchase said. Purchase accepted the chemo as part of her daughter’s treatment, although she takes a generally dim view of the pharmaceutical industry, is skeptical of childhood vaccines, rejects genetically modified foods and avoids products made with high-fructose corn syrup.

What Purchase believes, emphatically, is that cannabis heals.
Purchase said her stepfather’s topical application of cannabis oil cured his skin cancer.
She said an acquaintance’s lung cancer went into remission after he used pot.

And Purchase herself consumes marijuana daily.
She said she became an Oregon medical marijuana patient in 2010 to treat vomiting from a metabolic problem and from her pregnancy with her second child. She is so convinced of the drug’s safety that she consumed it during the pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

She was certain of one thing when Mykayla was diagnosed:
The child would use marijuana to defeat cancer.

Purchase and Krenzler took Mykayla to The Hemp and Cannabis Foundation clinic in Southeast Portland, where a doctor looked over a letter from Mykayla’s oncologist starting her diagnosis. The doctor asked about Mykayla’s medications, her symptoms and how Purchase planned to give her daughter the drug.

Purchase said the physician “was pretty thorough.”
If he had any concerns about Mykayla’s age, Purchase said, he didn’t mention them.
Ten days after her cancer diagnosis, Mykayla was an Oregon medical marijuana patient.

Undergoing treatment
On a recent afternoon, Krenzler placed a baggie of empty pill capsules on the kitchen counter and unwrapped a 10-gram syringe of cannabis oil, known among marijuana patients as Rick Simpson Oil Krenzler filled a capsule with a half-gram of the dark sludgy substance that friends had prepared and handed it to Mykayla. The oil smells bad and, says Mykayla, tastes awful. Krenzler got lime-flavored capsules to help mask the drug’s pungent aftertaste.
Test results showed the substance had a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of 58.6 percent, a much higher concentration than in dried marijuana. THC is the psychoactive property of marijuana that gives users a high.

You’ve come along way and gave
 hope and inspiration to many..
…xoxo

Mykayla swallowed the pill.
“First you get hungry,” she said. “Then you get really funny, and then you get tired.”
Mykayla went into remission within a month of starting chemotherapy. Cancer specialists say such a development is expected, but Purchase and Krenzler credited marijuana.
“She wasn’t responding as well until she got the cannabis,” Purchase said. Mykayla continues to receive a half-gram of cannabis oil twice a day: once in the morning, and again in the afternoon.

Krenzler said marijuana can relax or energize Mykayla, relieve her pain, stimulate her appetite, ease her nausea or put her to sleep. When she first started using marijuana,
it knocked Mykayla out. She’d nap for hours at a time, a sign that Mykayla’s body was adjusting to marijuana, said Krenzler. “Once you get used to it and you gain a tolerance,
it doesn’t make you high,” said Krenzler, who is listed with the state as Mykayla’s grower. “You’re functional.”

Sometimes, if Mykayla is feeling especially lousy, Krenzler and Purchase offer her a cookie or slice of banana bread baked with “budder,” made by slow-cooking butter and marijuana buds. Krenzler said she’s had up to 1.2 grams of cannabis oil in 24 hours, the rough equivalent of smoking 10 joints.

The couple home-schools Mykayla for now. She loves sculpting clay and reading
“Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” Her favorite book is “It’s Just a Plant,” a children’s book about marijuana illustrated by the artist whose work includes the blockbuster parody,
“Go **** to Sleep.”

Mykayla often reads the marijuana book aloud to her 17-month-old sister, Ryleigh.
“It’s really fun,” Mykayla said. “It teaches you about cannabis, that it’s good for you
and other people use it too.”

The doctor’s opinion
The faith Purchase and Krenzler place in marijuana’s curative powers is not shared
by the American medical establishment. Purchase and Krenzler said Dr. Janice Olson, the medical director of the children’s cancer and blood disorders program at Legacy Emanuel’s Randall Children’s Hospital, called the girl’s marijuana use “inappropriate.” Now they’re seeing another pediatric oncologist, Dr. Jason Glover.

Both doctors declined The Oregonian’s request for interviews.
Leaders of the American Academy of Pediatrics are circulating a resolution opposing the drug’s use in children, prompted by the growing number of states with medical marijuana programs. “The issue,” said Dr. Sharon Levy, an author of the academy’s anti-pot resolution, “is that marijuana isn’t a medicine.”
Much is unknown about marijuana’s risks and potential benefits for kids, said Levy, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and director of the adolescent substance abuse program at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Studies showing marijuana can be effective against nausea and vomiting have focused on adults. Pot does not cure childhood leukemia, said Dr. Stephen Sallan, chief of staff emeritus at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Sallan, a pediatric oncologist and professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, said he views the drug as “relatively harmless.” He did groundbreaking research in the 1970s that found THC in marijuana helps prevent chemotherapy-related vomiting.

“If I had a teenager — not a 7-year-old — who kind of liked the psychological side effects, and it offered additional anti-vomiting protection, I would say, why not?” said Sallan.
On the other hand, Sallan said marijuana isn’t part of the “first line of anything we use” when treating childhood leukemia.

Aware of the medical community’s concerns, the couple has not discussed Mykayla’s marijuana use with Glover, though they said the doctor is aware of it. Krenzler said he
also didn’t tell doctors when he gave Mykayla marijuana in the hospital. “She has never asked for a pain pill,” he said. “We’re not going to stop what works.”

Medical Marijuana
Continuing coverage of medical marijuana by The Oregonian’s Noelle Crombie.
Mykayla’s father said he was stunned to learn her oncologist was not consulted about
the child’s marijuana use.

Comstock, who works in a North Dakota oil field, pays Purchase child support and covers Mykayla’s health insurance. He said he observed strange behavior during an August visit and took Mykayla to a private lab, where technicians detected THC levels of an adult daily marijuana user. Gladstone police contacted the girl’s mother, examined Mykayla’s medical marijuana paperwork, then told Comstock there was little they could do.

Comstock, who used pot in the past, said he doesn’t object to people over 16 using medical marijuana. But he worries about his daughter’s well-being and the potential for addiction.
“She’s not terminally ill,” Comstock said. “She is going to get over this, and with all this pot, they are going to hinder her brain growth. “It’s going to limit her options in life because of the decisions her mother has made for her.”

“As a mother,” she said, “I am going to try anything before she can potentially fall on the other side.” Mykayla’s mother maintains a Facebook page dedicated to her daughter’s health and use of medical marijuana.

Cancer Remission, Mom Says
By SYDNEY LUPKIN

November 26, 2012, — When 7-year-old Mykayla Comstock was diagnosed with leukemia in July, it was less than three days before her mother filed Oregon medical marijuana paperwork so the child could take lime-flavored capsules filled with cannabis oil. The decision to give Mykayla the capsules came naturally to Erin Purchase, MyKayla’s mother, who believes marijuana has healing power, but doctors aren’t so sure it’s a good idea.

“The first doctor was not for it at all,” Purchase told ABCNews.com.
“She was rude and she told us it was inappropriate. “Basically, she blew up at us and told us to transfer to another facility.” They found a new doctor, who knows that Mykayla takes about a gram of cannabis oil a day — half in the morning and half at night — but he doesn’t talk about it with them.

“This is our daughter,” Purchase, 25, said.
“If they don’t agree with our personal choices, we’d rather they not say anything at all.”
It’s legal for a minor to enroll in the Oregon medical marijuana program as long as the child’s parent or legal guardian consents and takes responsibility as a caregiver.

And Mykayla was not alone.
There were four other patients enrolled in the Oregon medical marijuana program between the ages of 4 & 9, six between the ages of 10 & 14, and 41 between the ages of
15 & 17, according to the Oregon Public Health Division. Severe pain, nausea, muscle spasms and seizures are among the top conditions cited for medical marijuana use.

Mykayla first started to feel sick in May, when she developed a rash, cough and night sweats. By mid-July, doctors found a mass in her chest and diagnosed her with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia a few days later. The family relocated from Pendleton to Portland Ore. to be near Randall Children’s Hospital for treatment, which included chemotherapy.

At first, Mykayla was not responding well to her treatment, and doctors said she might need a bone marrow transplant. Then she started taking the cannabis oil pills. her mother said. By early August, Mykayla was in remission and the transplant was no longer necessary. “I don’t think it’s just a coincidence,” Purchase said. “I credit it with helping — at least helping — her ridding the cancer from her body.”

Before Mykayla was diagnosed, Purchase had read about another young boy with cancer who received cannabis oil for nearly two years because his parents believed it kept him alive so much that they defied doctors’ orders and broke Montana law to give it to him.
She said she knew it was what she would do for her children if they ever got sick.

Purchase said she, too, uses medical marijuana.
She said it has helped with her kidney and liver disease since 2010, adding,
“I feel that it saved my life.” However, Dr. Donna Seger, the executive director of the Tennessee Poison Center and a professor at Vanderbilt University, said cannabis has no effect on liver or kidney function, and it does not cure cancer.

“If it does anything, it decreases immunity,” she said. “It doesn’t fight cancer.”

Dr. Igor Grant, who directs the University of California Center for Medical Cannabis Research in San Diego, said he’s never studied marijuana’s effects on children and it’s
not clear how the pills will affect Mykayla’s development if she takes the drugs daily for a period of months or years.

“It’s always a tricky issue prescribing really a medication of any kind to developing organisms because they may be more sensitive to the effects, specifically if the prescription drug has an effect on the brain,” Grant said.

He said there have been basic laboratory studies that suggest pot slows cancer cells’
ability to change, but those studies are only theoretical. They include no clinical data
and or animal data.

The American Academy of Pediatrics opposes treating children with medical marijuana.
“The issue is that marijuana isn’t a medicine,” Dr. Sharon Levy, of the AAP, told the Oregonian.

Seger said she has several concerns about a 7-year-old taking pills filled with cannabis oil because there is little research on its long-term effects on children. Cannabis could have potentially negative effects on cognitive development in children since it affects cognitive ability in adults.

But Purchase said she wasn’t afraid to give her daughter the pills last summer. She was
a little nervous about determining the right dose. She and her fiancé, Brandon Krenzler,
who helped raise Mykayla since she was 3 years old, started MyKayla with .07-gram doses.

“It took a while to get her adjusted to it,” Purchase said.
“She acted more funny when she first started taking it and after a while
gained tolerance. Now, when she takes it, you can’t even tell. She’s very normal.”

Purchase said she knew she’d done the right thing the day Mykayla missed a dose of her cannabis oil pills and her 17-month old sister walked into a room holding string cheese. The smell made Mykayla so sick that she threw up on the spot.

“She actually asked for her dose,” Purchase said, adding that she’s less perky without it. “She doesn’t use pain pills or nausea pills. She has not even lost a single pound since her diagnosis.”

Dr. Michel Dubois, who works in NYU Langone’s Pain Management Center,
said using cannabis is still controversial because of its side effects and addictive qualities.

“This is a new ethical problem because you’ve got a medication, which is known to have
psychoactive effects, approved by the parents and given to a child,” he said, adding that
the child doesn’t have much choice in the matter.
(Psychoactive drugs disrupt communication in the brain and alter normal awareness,
behavior and mood, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.)

Dubois said it would be better to give a child other drugs for nausea because the cannabis oil likely contains at least 50 or 60 different chemicals with unknown long-term health effects. If Mykayla’s life expectancy is limited, her risk of toxicity will also be limited. However, if she is expected to make a full recovery, Dubois said there is a worry that the cannabis will add health problems later on.
The emergence of cannabidiol (CBD) has changed the entire scope of the cannabis industry and the cannabis legalization movement — for better and for worse. Because the stigmas and fears that relegated the plant to illegal drug status have had an inordinate focus on children, the idea that CBD alone is safer for them than THC because they don’t get “high” continues to prevent the most vulnerable from accessing proper plant-based relief.

When CBD entered the mainstream zeitgeist, it was immediately more palatable
to a society just waking up from Prohibition. Television specials about children with intractable epilepsy using orally administered high-CBD extracts were a comfortable bridge into the acceptance of herbal medicine. But the obsession with CBD has resulted
in the majority of pediatric patients being guided to avoid higher THC varieties that might provide the relief they need.

Starting with Utah in 2014, conservative states around America started passing preventative medical marijuana bills, or “CBD-only laws.” These laws allowed only epileptic patients to possess otherwise illegal high-CBD extracts, but put a hard stop
on raw high-THC cannabis flowers.

Corporations seized the opportunity of growing unmet demand in illegal states by marketing “hemp-CBD” extracts as “legal in all 50 states.” Harkening back to a 2004 ruling in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Hemp Industries Association v. Drug Enforcement Administration, they claimed their products were 100 percent legal since they came from hemp and were less than 0.3 percent THC, a wholly arbitrary but agreed-upon definition to legally separate marijuana from hemp, despite them being the same cannabis plant.

Patient stories have changed the conversation on cannabis, and none more so than the stories of children with cancers and incurable diseases. The first stories of children using high-THC cannabis to treat severe cases of autism started emerging out of the medical marijuana community in Northern California in the late 1990s. As social media emerged, more stories about more adults with more conditions started to filter through new social networks. But in 2012, it was one child’s story that changed the national conversation on pediatric use, paving the way for the CBD phenomenon.

Catching Up With Brave Mykayla
Mykayla Comstock became world famous when she was just seven years old. In July of 2012 she was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, and while her parents did use the traditional route of chemotherapy, they decided against brain radiation and opted instead for very high doses of high-THC, full-extract cannabis oil (FECO, a.k.a Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO). Mykayla’s cancer went into remission within a week of starting the cannabis oil and today she is still in remission, with a lower chance of relapse and less residual pharmaceutical effects than other children who have received similar diagnoses.

Images of “Brave Mykayla” laughing, dancing and playing, her head bald from the chemotherapy, were documented by Vice News and Ricki Lake among others, and spread millions of times online. Her parents were criticized for bringing the story public and talking heads would muse about what sort of brain damage she would end up with as a result of the THC exposure. But to real people in need, her story was an epiphany.
Even the most conservative families who saw the images were forced to question their prior notions and seek it for their own friends or family.
Mykayla’s mother Erin Purchase says even years later she is still getting hundreds of messages a week from people all over the world who need help for their children. For years she answered them all.

“[The messages] never slowed down at all, there is just as much of a desire [to treat children with cannabis] today as there was five years ago. So many cases have been proven since then and there is even more of a desire for information people still don’t have access to because of federal law,” Purchase says.
But Purchase had to stop looking at or responding to the messages; she had to prioritize her own family. Still, she says she wishes she could help, because it’s not fair to the parents. She and partner Brandon Krenzler put all the need-to-know information about Mykayla’s treatment online and opted to create more privacy for her and her siblings as they grow up.

“It felt good to provide them with advice they need — a lot of these families
need someone to talk to. … They need support when their child first takes the oil.
They need someone who has been there and been through it,” Purchase explains.

Purchase and Krenzler are proud that Mykayla never took a single opioid or anti-anxiety medication during her cancer treatment. Today they are even more secure in the decision; because she was on far fewer pharmaceuticals than other kids, she didn’t experience the same side effects like neuropathy, wasting, depression and extreme pain. Instead, she was “smiling, happy and hungry.” And while Purchase already had a thorough understanding of medical marijuana before giving it to her daughter, even she had anxiety about getting Mykayla “high.” She says a lot of that is attributed to unsupportive doctors and to the law.

“When kids have bad reactions to pharma, you don’t feel as guilty because you are following doctor’s orders. With cannabis, you aren’t and you feel a tremendous amount
of guilt when you see kids use it,” Purchase admits.
“Most parents wait until their kid has exhausted medical options and is literally dying before they do it. I wasn’t that way.” Talking to Mykayla, now 13 years old, it’s pretty clear that the fear people had about her development using high doses of THC at such a young age were wrong.
She is mature beyond her years but settling in comfortably to being a normal kid; she babysits her brother and sister, she talks on her cell phone with her friends, takes dance classes, and is looking forward to starting drama classes next year and auditioning for a play. When she grows up, she wants to be “a hairstylist, a makeup artist, or both.”

She says she enjoyed being “cannabis famous.” She liked being on stage and had fun seeing and meeting so many people — it was only “kind of a little” weird that so many strangers knew her name. Since that time, though, more children’s stories have gone public and Mykayla’s health is no longer an issue.

She wants other kids to know about how cannabis helped her, but has chosen to stay more private in school. She only recently stopped hiding her scars and started opening up to her friends about having had cancer. She is most nervous, however, about how other kids would react if they found out.

“Kids are on Google and they search up names,” Mykayla says.
“They are gonna find out I used cannabis and they will come up to me and be like,
‘What the heck?!’” Purchase chimes in, “That is a problem prohibition caused.
These children have to deal with feeling they will be ostracized or judged.

These cannakids who used it to save their lives, they are stuck in the weirdest predicament.”
Pointing to the mixed messaging at schools, Purchase adds that last year Mykayla graduated from the D.A.R.E. program, where she was taught about “the dangers of THC.” Purchase says the cops and school administrators all know Mykayla’s story and have not judged or said anything negative — at least, not openly. Mykayla’s D.A.R.E. instructor, a police officer, even gave her a barbed-wire cross with a pink plaque with the word “Hope.”
Every adult in Pendleton, where Mykayla lives, knows her story.

The eastern Oregon town of just 16,000 is located along I-84, the Oregon Trail, and Purchase’s family has lived there for generations. They are “downwinders” to the Hanford nuclear facility in nearby Washington, where large portions of the atomic
bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II were assembled.
In their circles, cancer — and particularly childhood cancer — is not uncommon. Mykayla says she hopes every kid with cancer is able to get the access she did. “It’s an inspiration, it’s a good thing. It makes me happy to know other people know my story,” Mykayla says.

On June 9th, 2023, MyKayla Graduated in the high percentile of her class on time.

The Gonzalez Regime

Nicholas Gonzalez Cancer Regime – Search (bing.com)

I remember going to Ohio’s Amish Country in November 2015 and meeting up with a Facebook Friend and her parents. Whose father went from deathbed to chopping wood
in ten days. Simply by detoxing from chemotherapy and being fed an organic diet with no additives or preservatives. When we took a trip to see an Amish Doctor I asked him which herbs are best for cancer. He told me in the Amish Hills he sees his best results using the Gonzalez Regime.

Lessons Learned in Amish Country | Cancer Quick Facts (solitarius.org)

The Changing Season: | Cancer Quick Facts (solitarius.org)

The Gonzalez regimen combines prescribed dietsnutritional supplementscoffee enemas, and pancreatic enzymes in a cancer management program. The regimen is intended to detoxify the body, correct nervous system imbalances that might lead to impaired general health, and support natural immune  processes. The pancreatic enzymes are thought to be the specific anticancer component of the Gonzalez program.[13]

Two major concepts underlie use of the Gonzalez regimen in cancer treatment.
The first concept is that the pancreas, like the liver, is an organ that performs a detoxification function and that pancreatic enzymes help the body eliminate toxins and help normal cells repair damaged cells.[2] The second concept is that cancer and most other human illness are related to physiological imbalances created by environmental toxins either consumed in food or contacted in the environment. [2,3]
Proponents of the Gonzalez regimen believe that toxins from sources such as processed foods and environmental pollution are responsible for human cancers. These toxins are thought to accumulate in tissues and over time create imbalances in the autonomic nervous system, diminish the normal immune response, and give rise to cellular damage that can lead to cancer.[2,3] If these toxins could be neutralized and eliminated from the body, proponents believe, both early and established cancers would be halted, and general health would be restored. [2,3]

According to the developer of the Gonzalez regimen, the diets used in this regimen are chosen for each patient according to individual metabolic profiles established at the time of initial evaluation through various tests, including hair analysis. There are ten basic diets and 90 variations.[2] The diets emphasize organic foods. Each diet carries a particular focus and can range from strictly vegetarian diets to diets high in meat and fat. Variations in the diets correlate with the theory that imbalances in the autonomic nervous system are exacerbated by a diet that is inappropriate for the patient’s metabolic type.[2,3]
Nutritional supplements employed in the Gonzalez regimen include vitaminsmineralstrace elementsamino acids, and extracts of animal organs (e.g., thymus and liver extracts from sheep or cows). As with the dietary protocols, the nutritional supplements are intended to correct autonomic nervous system imbalances.[2,3]

The major feature of the Gonzalez regimen is freeze-dried porcine pancreatic enzyme (PPE) administered in capsule form as part of the nutritional supplementation aspect of the program. Obtained from pigs, PPE is considered to be the primary cancer-fighting component in the regimen and to contribute to the overall detoxification process.[2]
Proponents of the regimen believe that the pancreatic enzymes are delivered to the bloodstream and help the body eliminate and destroy abnormal cells, waste material,
and abnormal proteins that are toxic to the body. As the body detoxifies, the cancerous tumors tend to shrink.[2]
Coffee enemas are also included as part of the detoxification process. The enemas are administered twice daily.[3] The use of coffee enemas is based on a belief that coffee introduced into the lower intestinal tract will improve liver function and stimulate emptying of the gallbladder, thereby enhancing the elimination of toxins and waste products from the body.[2,3]

The Gonzalez regimen is available only to private patients of its New York-based practitioner. Pancreatic enzymes are sold in the United States as either prescription drugs indicated for pancreatic insufficiency [4] or over-the-counter (OTC) dietary supplements.
As of 2004, those sold as prescription drugs must have a New Drug Approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be marketed legally in the United States. Pancreatic enzymes sold as OTC dietary supplements are regulated as foods, not drugs.
Dietary supplements in the United States are therefore sold without a requirement of a market approval by the FDA, as long as they do not claim to treat or prevent a specific disease or condition. According to the developer of the Gonzalez regimen, most OTC preparations or other commercially available pancreatic enzymes are not effective against cancer.[3]
For the FDA, PPE falls under the category of a new prescription drug that is under investigation. To conduct clinical drug research in the United States, researchers must
file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the FDA. Only one group of investigators is known to have IND approval to study this pancreatic enzyme preparation as a treatment for cancer. The IND process is confidential, and the existence of an IND can be disclosed only by the applicant(s).

History
The Gonzalez regimen was developed by Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, who became interested in the use of pancreatic enzymes and dietary protocols as a possible treatment for cancer as a second-year medical student when he learned of a cancer treatment approach developed by a Texas dentist, William Donald Kelley, D.D.S. Dr. Kelley’s approach espoused, among other things, the use of pancreatic enzymes administered orally as anticancer agents.[15] The use of enzymes as a treatment for cancer was originally proposed nearly a century ago [6] and then resurfaced in the work of Dr. Max Gerson in the 1940s.[7] The Gonzalez regimen was developed from these earlier theories and approaches.
A key concept underlying the original use of pancreatic enzymes for cancer treatment is the trophoblastic theory of cancer.[8] When a human egg is fertilized by sperm, the early cell divisions produce a small ball of cells, which give rise to the blastocyst (preimplantation embryo). The blastocyst possesses a surrounding layer of cells known as the trophectoderm, which is made of individual cells called trophoblasts.

Responsible for protecting the developing blastocyst and for mediating its attachment to the wall of the uterus, trophoblasts create the placenta. During the process of attaching the blastocyst to the uterine wall, trophoblasts express invasive qualities similar to those found in cancer cells. Trophoblasts, however, cease their invasive activity once the placenta is in place and functioning and then differentiate into other cell types.[8]
When Scottish embryologist Dr. John Beard [6] first observed the invasive activity of trophoblasts in 1902, he speculated on the similarities between these cells and cancer cells. In addition, he observed that trophoblast invasiveness begins to decline at about the same time that the pancreas in the developing fetus begins to function. He also theorized that maternal pancreatic enzymes might play a role in containing trophoblastic invasiveness in the uterus.

These considerations led to his proposal that cancer cells, like trophoblasts, arise from primordial germ cells. Dr. Beard also thought that some of these primordial cells—carrying latent capacities for invading tissues—could escape and spread throughout the body of the developing fetus. He thought it was possible that pancreatic enzymes modulated the degree of trophoblastic invasiveness in the uterus, he suggested that these same enzymes play a role in either limiting or eliminating cancerous cells elsewhere in the body.[6,8
Dr. Beard worked before the advent of molecular biology and human genetics. Although unable to experimentally establish that pancreatic enzymes had anticancer effects, he published papers and a book about his theory between 1902 and 1911. Other scientists of the time raised significant objections to the trophoblastic theory of cancer, and it was never broadly accepted.[9]

As Dr. Beard had before him, Dr. Kelley also asserted that trophoblasts and cancer cells have a common origin in primordial germ cells. Dr. Kelley maintained, furthermore, that cancer was initiated when primordial germ cells migrated to a point in the body already weakened by toxic exposure and nervous system imbalance.
At these presumably compromised sites, the germ cells met no opposition from the immune system and initiated an aggressive invasion of normal tissue, creating malignancy. Dr. Kelley’s treatment approach was based on the belief that primordial germ cells are the single cause of all cancers, no matter where they occur, and that pancreatic enzymes are able to suppress or destroy cancers.[1,5]
Dr. Gonzalez incorporated many of Dr. Beard’s and Dr. Kelley’s key points into his own treatment regimen. In addition, the Gonzalez regimen includes the rigorous dietary protocols, nutritional supplements, and coffee enemas that can be found in the earlier work of Dr. Max Gerson.[7]
The Gonzalez regimen now includes use of pancreatic enzymes, along with nutritional supplements, coffee enemas, and prescriptive diets based on a theory of autonomic dominance. [24]
An example of the Gonzalez regimen for a patient with pancreatic adenocarcinoma would be the following:
A diet that emphasizes fresh raw fruits, raw and lightly steamed vegetables, and freshly made vegetable juice daily. The diet protocol relies on plant-based sources such as cereals, nuts, and seeds and whole-grain products such as whole-grain bread and brown rice.
The patient may eat one or two eggs daily, whole-milk yogurt daily, and fish two or three times a week, but no red meat or poultry.

Nutritional supplements that include vitaminsminerals, and trace elements.
Also prescribed are certain freeze-dried organ concentrates such as thymus and liver, derived from beef or lamb.
Ingestion of 25 g to 40 g of porcine lyophilized pancreas product daily,
in capsule form, taken away from meals and spread evenly throughout the day.[2]
The total number of capsules taken per day by each cancer patient on the Gonzalez regimen typically ranges from 130 to 160, taken with and away from meals. [2]
In addition, the Gonzalez regimen uses coffee enemas on the premise that coffee absorbed through the intestinal wall will improve liver and gallbladder function and help increase the removal of toxic waste from tumor breakdown.[2,4]
At this time there is no scientific evidence that coffee enemas have any specific effects on increased liver function, effects on tumor breakdown detoxification, or a role in the treatment of any cancer.
Doubts exist about the effectiveness of oral administration of pancreatic enzymes because pancreatic enzymes were not thought to be transported intact from the gut to the bloodstream. Evidence now suggests that intact digestive enzymes can be absorbed and resecreted by the pancreas, in a manner similar to the liver recycling of bile salts and hormones.[1012]

Laboratory/Animal/Preclinical Studies
Directly relevant laboratory or animal data concerning the anticancer potential of the Gonzalez regimen are limited. Published animal studies focus on the role of pancreatic enzymes in cancer treatment rather than the regimen as a whole.
An animal study published in 1999 measured the ability of orally administered porcine pancreas preparation (PPP) to slow or halt the growth of cancer and to inhibit metastasis. Sixty Fischer F344 female rats were divided into five groups of 12 each. All groups were fed the same basic diet. After 5 days, R13762 transplantable rat mammary tumor was implanted into a mammary fat pad on each rat. The animals were maintained on their assigned diets for another 40 days.
After the tumors had taken hold, two groups were given a high dose of PPP (20% by weight) and two groups were given a lower dose (2% by weight). The fifth group was used as a control and received no enzymes. In addition, one group from each of the PPP-dosed rat groups was also given a magnesium citrate supplement because magnesium is often given with PPP in clinical practice.[1]

Results showed that PPP had no effect on tumor growth, and PPP alone did not show any significant effect on the amount of metastases. However, when the rate of metastases in the rats dosed at the 20% rate was compared with those dosed at 2%, it was noted that there was an increase in metastases in the rats given a higher dose of PPP. The lowest rate of metastases was seen in the rats given the 2% dose plus magnesium citrate.[1]
In another study, the effects of porcine pancreatic enzyme (PPE) extracts on survival and tumor growth were examined in 5- to 6-week-old male beige X-linked immunodeficient mice. In the survival study, two groups of mice received pancreatic cancer cells AsPc1 injected into their pancreas. The treatment group (14 mice) received PPE in water at a dose of 400 mg/kg of body weight, which corresponds to the dose used in patients receiving the Gonzalez regimen. The control group (13 mice) was given only water.

After death, the pancreas was removed and measured for volume and weight. The median survival rates for the treatment group and the control group were 43.5 days and 35 days, respectively. At day 35, the survival rates were 79% in the treatment group and 38% in the control group.
In addition, the control mice showed reduced activity as compared with the treatment group, which showed normal activity and no signs of disease. In general, the size of tumors and the rate of invasion in the liver and peritoneum correlated with length of survival time.[2]
In the tumor growth segment of this study, a second group of 30 mice was taken through the same procedures. Tumor size and weight were measured in two mice from each group on day 52, and again in two mice from the control group and five mice from the treatment group on day 60. Ascites were much more apparent in the control group than in the treatment group.
Physical activity among the treated mice was much greater than in the control group. Results showed that the treatment group had significantly smaller tumors than the control group in both weight and volume. The mean tumor weight was 1.2 g in the control group and 0.75 g in the treatment group. The tumor volume was 0.42 cm3 in the treatment group and 0.91 cm3 in the control group.
All mice in the control group showed steatorrhea, hyperglycosuria, hyperbilirubinemia, and ketonuria in the early stages of tumor growth, whereas in the treated group only a few mice showed these abnormalities in the final stages.
There were no differences in the tumors of the treatment and control groups in the expression of growth factorsepidermal growth factor receptor, or apoptotic rate. [2]

Human/Clinical Studies
The anticancer efficacy of the Gonzalez regimen has been investigated in two
human studies (CPMC-IRB-8544 [1]), both involving patients with pancreatic cancer.
The first study, a prospective nonconsecutive case series conducted by the developer and an associate, included 11 patients diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the pancreas (stage II through stage IV). None of the patients had received chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and none had undergone surgical resection with curative intent. All the patients had pancreatic tumors that were either unresected or partially resected. Survival from the time of diagnosis was the only study endpoint, and all 11 patients (including one who left the study) were included in this survival analysis.

The investigators reported a median survival time of 17 months and a mean survival time of 25.2 months for these patients. Nine patients (82%) survived 1 year, five patients (45%) survived 2 years, and four patients (36%) survived 3 years. At the time the study was reported, two patients were alive: one who had survived 3 years, and one had survived 4 years. The researchers concluded that the 1-year and 2-year survival percentages for this group of patients were superior to those observed for other U.S. patients diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the pancreas (1-year survival, all stages = 25%; 2-year survival, all stages = 10%).[1]

The small number of patients in this study and the absence of a control group are limitations that raise doubts about the reliability of its findings. It is possible that important, unidentified differences between these patients and other patients diagnosed with stage II to stage IV pancreatic cancer contributed to the relatively long survival. The investigators report that 25 additional patients with pancreatic cancer were seen during the study period but were excluded from study participation. Eleven of these patients were excluded on the basis of comorbidities, previous treatment, or delay between diagnosis and beginning the program; 14 otherwise eligible patients were excluded on the grounds that they chose not to start the program, complied only briefly, or predicted noncompliance.[1]

The second study is a nonrandomized prospective case-control observational study sponsored by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health and the National Cancer Institute in which median survival and quality of life were found to be better in patients treated with gemcitabine-based (i.e., other drugs may be included) chemotherapy than for patients treated with the Gonzalez regimen.
This study was originally planned for randomization but changed after few patients elected to participate in the randomized trial. The same eligibility criteria were used to select patients for both treatment arms.
The results of this study were reported in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Oncology.[2] According to the report, 70 patients were evaluated for the study and 55 were enrolled: 23 in the gemcitabine arm and 32 in the enzyme treatment arm. The enzyme treatment included orally ingested proteolytic enzymes, nutritional supplementsdetoxification,
and an organic diet (as used in the pilot study by Gonzalez and Isaacs).[1]

Patients received three pancreatic enzyme capsules and two magnesium citrate capsules with each meal. The patients also took specified numbers of capsules with magnesium citrate and Papaya Plus every 4 hours on an empty stomach. The dose for patients with stage II disease was 69 enzyme capsules per day, and the dose for patients with stages III or stage IV was 81 capsules per day. After day 16, patients had a 5-day rest period and then resumed treatment on day 22. Patients in the experimental arm received proteolytic treatment under the care of a practitioner familiar with the regimen; those in the chemotherapy arm received treatment by the oncologist they selected.[2

Treatment could be adjusted by the physician, and it could be increased for cancer   progression. The gemcitabine treatment patients received various gemcitabine-containing regimens, with 19 of the 23 patients receiving a combination of gemcitabine, capecitabine, and docetaxel. The two groups had similar clinical characteristics. The median survival for the patients in the gemcitabine arm was 14 months and, on the enzyme arm, 4.3 months.
The quality of life as measured by the FACT-PA was also better in the chemotherapy arm. The paper does not list Dr. Gonzalez as an author, and does not identify him as participating in the study; however, Dr. Gonzalez published comments on his website indicating his participation in the study and detailing his concerns about how the study was conducted, including patient compliance with the prescribed treatment in the enzyme arm.[3]
No data concerning the effectiveness of the Gonzalez regimen for the treatment of cancer patients with other types of cancer have been reported, despite claims that a variety of cancers can be treated. In addition, there is no safety or efficacy information on the regimen in children. No clinical trials of this regimen have been conducted in children, and this extremely difficult regimen may be prohibitive in young children.

Adverse Effects
The developer of the Gonzalez regimen has reported the following adverse effects associated with the regimenintestinal gas; occasional bloating and indigestion, apparently related to ingestion of porcine pancreatic enzyme; and flu-like syndromes, allegedly associated with detoxification, including low-grade fever, nonspecific myalgia (muscle aches), and nonspecific skin rashes.[1,2] The cases found in the literature on coffee enema are not adequate to support an adverse effect from coffee enemas alone. There are rare reports of adverse events unrelated to the coffee enemas in patients receiving them. It should be remembered that clinically significant changes in blood chemistries can occur with excessive use of enemas of any kind.[36]

Summary of the Evidence for the Gonzalez Regimen
Existing clinical data concerning the effectiveness of the Gonzalez regimen as a treatment for cancer are limited and inconclusive. One clinical study, a nonconsecutive case series involving 11 patients with pancreatic cancer, has been reported.[1] Another clinical study involving 55 patients with pancreatic cancer was published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Oncology in August 2009.[2] No data concerning the effectiveness of the Gonzalez regimen in patients with other types of cancer have been reported.
To assist readers in evaluating the results of human studies of integrative, alternative, and complementary therapies for cancer, the strength of the evidence (i.e., the levels of evidence) associated with each type of treatment is provided whenever possible.
To qualify for a level of evidence analysis, a study must: Be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
Report on a therapeutic outcome or outcomes, such as tumor response, improvement in survival, or measured improvement in quality of life.
Describe clinical findings in sufficient detail that a meaningful evaluation can be made.
Separate levels of evidence scores are assigned to qualifying human studies on the basis of statistical strength of the study design and scientific strength of the treatment outcomes (i.e., endpoints) measured. The resulting two scores are then combined to produce an overall score. For an explanation of the scores and additional information about levels of evidence analysis of CAM treatments for cancer, refer to Levels of Evidence for Human Studies of Integrative, Alternative, and Complementary Therapies.

What is the Budwig Protocol

Budwig Cancer Survivors —> Life After Cancer is Worth Celebrating – Budwig Center

What to eat
Making the mixture
Evidence
Side effects and risks
Takeaway

The Budwig diet, or Budwig protocol, is a diet plan that some people believe can support the treatment of cancer. It involves flaxseed and cottage cheese, and avoiding processed foods.
Standard medical treatments for cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Some people also look for complementary therapies that can support the treatment process.

One such therapy is the Budwig diet. This diet involves the consumption of a flaxseed
oil and cottage cheese or preferably low-fat quark mixture, as well as the avoidance
of processed foods and animal fats.
Flaxseed contains omega 3, a healthful fat that may reduce
the levels of certain chemicals that contribute to cancer.
It also contains lignans and phytoestrogens, which may have anti-cancer effects.
In this article, we consider whether there is any evidence to support the use of the
Budwig Protocol and discuss the possible risks and side effects.

What to eat on the Budwig diet

The Budwig diet involves many servings of flaxseed oil
mixed with cottage cheese low-fat quark or yogurt.
People who follow the Budwig diet eat a mixture of flaxseed oil and cottage cheese.
According to Dr. Johanna Budwig, who developed the diet in the 1950s, eating a lot
of polyunsaturated fat from these specific sources will help prevent cancer cells from spreading.
The diet plan also focuses heavily on the following foods:
fruits
vegetables
foods that are high in fiber
Dr. Budwig also recommended spending 20 minutes a day outdoors to:

increase sun exposure and boost vitamin D levels
help balance blood pressure
manage cholesterol and pH levels in the body
She recommended following the diet strictly and consistently for at least 5 years.

Foods to avoid

A person who follows the diet should avoid:pork
cold and processed meats
sugar
refined grains and cereals
shellfish
butter and most other dairy products
margarine and other refined and hydrogenated oilstea and
coffee

Why follow the Budwig diet?

Dr. Budwig designed this diet to support the treatment of cancer, but proponents
claim that it can also help with other conditions, including: arteriosclerosis
stroke
heart attack
stomach ulcers
prostate problems
eczema
arthritis
immune deficiencies
However, health authorities insist that there is not enough
evidence to support the use of this diet.

Making the mixture
IMPORTANT: Making German Quark – Search Videos (bing.com)
The basis of the Budwig diet is a mixture of flaxseed oil and either

cottage cheese or preferably low-fat quark, another bland cheese.
A person may also use low fat milk or yogurt.
To make the mixture, a person should combine the following ingredients
and mix them well until the oil is no longer visible:
8.5 ounces (oz) of flaxseed oil
16 oz of 1% cottage cheese or low-fat quark
4 tablespoons of honey
People on the diet should aim to eat 1.5 oz of flaxseed oil and 4 oz of cottage cheese or quark per day. They should eat these at different times throughout the day but always
as a mixture.

Evidence

There is little or no evidence that the Budwig diet can treat cancer.

However, some research does suggest that flaxseed may help fight cancer.

Flaxseed

A 2017 study found that mice with lung cancer that consumed flaxseed
had fewer new lung tumors compared with mice that ate a diet without flaxseed.
Other research involved hens with ovarian cancer. The hens that ate flaxseed had fewer late stage tumors and better outcomes after a year than hens that did not eat flaxseed.
However, there is not much recent research available about the effects of flaxseed in humans with cancer.
In one small trial from 2001, the researchers recruited 25 men with prostate cancer and found that enriching the diet with flaxseed might lower the levels of the male hormone  testosterone. Decreasing the amount of this hormone may help reduce the size of the tumors.

Budwig diet

One case study Trusted Source followed an individual with breast cancer
who used the Budwig diet in addition to traditional treatments, including chemotherapy.
Her cancer went into remission, but it is not clear whether this was due to the Budwig diet or the conventional therapies.
These results are encouraging, but before reaching a conclusion, scientists need to investigate further how flaxseed and the Budwig diet affect humans with cancer.
For now, it is not possible to call the Budwig diet a cancer treatment.
However, eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and limiting the intake of animal products — especially processed meats — is likely to benefit a person’s overall health.
In turn, this may boost their chances of recovery and also their well-being while they
undergo medical treatment for cancer.

Side effects and risks

The Budwig diet primarily promotes healthful eating, and it has limited side effects. However, it is not suitable for everyone.

image.png
Possible adverse effects

Possible side effects of eating a lot of flax, or flaxseed oil,
include excessive gas and an upset stomach.
People should bear the following in mind before adopting the Budwig diet:
High consumption of flaxseed may lead to gastrointestinal problems,
such as excessive gas and diarrhea.
The contents of the diet may not be suitable for people with some types of cancer.
People with a dairy intolerance will not be able to eat cottage cheese.
Eating a lot of flaxseed can increase the risk of bowel obstruction.
Drinking plenty of water can help reduce this risk.
Consuming flaxseed during pregnancy may increase the risk of breast cancer in the child.
Flaxseed may interact with some pain relievers and drugs for bleeding disorders, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Flaxseed may worsen a bleeding disorder.

Additional sun exposure can lead to skin damage and a higher risk of skin cancer.
A person should ask their doctor how much time they should spend in the sun and what precautions to take.
People who lose weight while they have cancer may need additional calories.
A doctor can advise on any special dietary needs.
Some people have claimed that this diet can cure cancer.
It is important to understand that there is no evidence that any diet can cure cancer.
People should follow their doctor’s instructions regarding cancer treatment and ask them about any dietary or lifestyle changes.
Dietary and other therapies should only be complementary, supporting and not replacing conventional treatment.

Allergy and intolerance
Some people may have an allergic reaction or a sensitivity to flaxseeds or dairy produce.
It is rare for a person to have a flaxseed allergy, but if they do, they may experience:
tingling in the mouth
hives on the skin
difficulty breathing
If a person is struggling to breathe, someone should call for medical help at once.
People who have an intolerance to dairy products could have similar side effects
from eating cottage cheese. Be Safe: Make Your Own German Quark!

image.png
Who should not follow the diet?

A person with diabetes or hyperglycemia should talk to their doctor
before trying the Budwig diet. The Budwig diet is safe for most people.
For some, however, it could do more harm than good.
People should not follow the diet if they have:
diabetes or hyperglycemia
certain hormonal conditions
inflammatory bowel disease or other intestinal problems
a bleeding disorder
People who do not have these conditions and want to try
the Budwig Protocol should speak to their doctor first.

Takeaway

Flaxseed has shown some promise as a cancer-fighting food in animal studies.
However, there is not yet enough research to prove that it is an effective treatment.
Scientists have not produced enough evidence to show that the Budwig Protocol
can benefit a person with cancer.
Anyone who wishes to follow the diet should first speak to their doctor. The use of the Budwig diet should only ever be complementary to conventional medical treatments.

Dee Mani-Mitchell

I Had Aggressive Cancer, But Was Healed Naturally Within 5 Months.
Here’s What I Did. – The Washington Standard

Dee Mani Mitchell Cancer Story – Bing video
Dee Mani-Mitchell developed Triple Negative breast cancer in March 2017.
After 5 months, she was declared cancer free with no evidence of disease.
To this day she is still cancer free. She now spends her spare time, supporting
& mentoring other cancer sufferers and their loved ones. “During my research,
I came across an older lady in America who had cured her own Triple Negative
Breast Cancer with cannabis oil.

“I then discovered Rick Simpson and The Truth About Cancer and The Sacred Plant docuseries.” Due to the intense level of Reefer Madness in the UK, many are still of the belief that cannabis is a ‘scary,’ drug, linked to mental illnesses such as psychosis and paranoia. “I had smoked a few joints when I was younger,” Dee said, when discussing if she was worried about trying medical cannabis, “so I was well aware of the psychoactive compounds.

“I was more worried about the thought of having to use chemo if alternative medicine didn’t work.” Cannabis oil, however, was not the only treatment Dee received to help cure her cancer. “I had a lumpectomy which was the only medical intervention. “My oncologist expected me to have a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for 12 months.

Dee Mani on The Kate Shemirani Show – 07 May 2023 | TNT Radio (podbean.com)
“Apparently Triple Negative doesn’t respond to any anti-cancer drugs and following the lumpectomy there would still be cancer cells left over. “I refused the chemo and rads, and was given the all clear 14th August 2017!” Dee’s inspiring story could have been a major catalyst in changing the negative public perception on medical cannabis, helping to raise awareness of the ancient medical herb’s potential use as a cancer treatment.

Instead, Dee’s story was used to generate clicks for Alt-Right news outlets, such as
The Sun and The Daily Mail, and as an advert for Holland & Barrett’s CBD products.  Discussing her views on the mainstream misrepresentations, Dee said, “I’m annoyed as hell that The Daily Mail (who ran the article first) chose not to disclose the oil I use is FECO with a very high THC level. “Instead, they decided to print that I only used CBD!

“They even mentioned that my oil didn’t get me high, which of course it did.

FECO, Rick Simpson Oil
Full spectrum cannabis oil, with THC, that Dee used to cure her cancer.

THC is illegal in the UK.
“Following on from the original article the same story went viral globally,
it became out of my control to get my correct message across.
“I was then approached by Love It magazine. “I agreed to another article on the promise that they would use my correct details and I was able to proofread the details before it went to press. “The article was 100% true and had all the correct details, however, they chose to put a Holland and Barrett advertisement for their CBD oil right smack bang
in the middle of the 2 page spread!

“I contacted editors from both The Daily Mail and Love It and I’m yet to hear a response from them. “I was also informed that as long as the journalists don’t change my actual quotes (which they hadn’t done) they are free to ‘tweak’ the stories to suit their reader… unfortunately, The Daily Mail believed that mentioning THC as an illegal substance would be too controversial for their readers.”

The Daily Mail is the UK’s most read newspaper.
Millions of people read their website every year. Millions of people could have been potentially misled by their coverage of Dee’s story. Placing discussions about CBD oil within articles on Dee’s story has the potential to mislead readers into thinking they too could cure their cancers using legal CBD oils. “It may be a coincidence but as soon as my first article was featured,” Dee explained, “the day afterwards, H&B was all over the mainstream media, with headlines misleading people that their CBD oil cures cancer.  “They have simply jumped on a hype to gain bigger profits, most of their stores sold out in an instant! “H&B are giving false hope to cancer patients all over the world and I think it’s an absolute disgrace!

“I would never advise a cancer patient to use CBD oils. I strongly believe that THC is vital. “Each cancer type reacts differently to different ratios, for instance, I knew that Triple Negative responds best with a very high THC, however, I also understand that estrogen-positive types of breast cancer respond better to a lower THC ratio.” Cannabidiol (CBD) has experienced a recent boom in the UK, around 250,000 users in the U.K., double the 125,000 in 2016.

THC, however, remains illegal with no sign of being legalised or decriminalized while the Conservatives hold office. THC, they argue, can lead to addiction to harder drugs and the development of severe mental illnesses. Stories like Dee’s, however, illustrate how wrong our Conservative Government truly is when it comes to drug laws.

Dee explained to us that cannabis not only helped cure her cancer, but has helped her in other aspects of her life: “Whilst I’ve always considered myself to be healthy, I’ve always suffered from insomnia to the point where I was prescribed valium. “I also have 3 slipped discs in my back, from an injury that occurred almost 20 years ago. Since then, I’ve been on medication daily to alleviate the pain. “I also suffer from allergies (dust, pets, pollen) and need antihistamines again on a daily basis.

“When Dee Mani started the oil, she no longer had sleepless nights and no back pain It did not take long for Dee to notice the changes: “The sleepless nights went straight away after my very first dose, the back pain and allergies seemed to disappear after a couple of weeks and rarely ever needed to take an antihistamine!”. Dee stated, “Around 2 months after I started taking the oil I felt healthier than I ever had, I couldn’t actually believe that I had cancer because I felt so well.

“Medical cannabis saved my life!
While the anti-cannabis campaign by Alt-Right news outlets has scared many unfortunate people into believing that cannabis is an ‘evil, psychosis causing drug,’ Dee was unfazed by the negative reputation the herb has: The fact that cannabis oil is illegal did not for any minute affect my decision. “I started to grow my own plants to produce the oil.” I even decided to inform the police of my harvesting for fear of a neighbour contacting them. “They advised that I was able to have at least 25 plants for medical reasons.”

Despite the purposeful campaign to use Dee’s story to sell CBD for Holland & Barrett,
the public reaction Dee received for standing up has been a largely positive one:
“The public feedback has been absolutely amazing, I’ve had people from all over the world congratulating me on my success and asking for advice on them medicating themselves using cannabis oil. There are so many people touched by my story that are now rooting for this natural plant to finally become legal again.”

Asked what message she could pass onto other 350,000+ British citizens diagnosed with cancer each year, Dee replied: “To simply educate yourself on everything and anything to do with cancer. Understand why you developed cancer in the first place and what you can do to firstly rid it from your body safely, and secondly, make sure you take measures to prevent a recurrence.”

“Don’t be afraid to disagree with your oncologist and be proud to have your own opinion.’ Dee said. “Most importantly, believe in the power of medical cannabis!”
Cancer survival stories like Dee’s often miss out some key details, with many left thinking that cannabis alone was what cured the cancer. Cancer survivors, who utilize medical cannabis, often make significant changes to their lifestyle, alongside cannabinoid treatments.

“Along the cannabis oil,” Dee explained, “I completely changed my lifestyle. “I quit smoking, cut down on alcohol, ate a plant-based diet, juiced daily, took supplements
such as turmeric, vitamin C, garlic pearls and biotin. I also took essential oils such as frankincense, oregano, wormwood and lemon oil.

“I meditated and took frequent salt baths.”

Dee Mani bravely stood up in the face of public persecution and told the world that cannabis oil, containing high levels of THC, saved her from cancer. Unfortunately, vultures decided to use her story to generate clicks on their website and sell CBD oil from Holland & Barrett’s. If the Alt-Right media goes unchecked, millions of desperate cancer patients may be misled into purchasing CBD thinking it contains the same anti-cancer properties as the cannabis oil Dee used to save her life.

Over 350,000 British citizens are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK,
with over 165,000 of them dying. Hundreds of thousands of innocent lives could
be helped by legalizing access to full spectrum cannabis oil. Hundreds of thousands of innocent lives could be lost due to misleading articles. Help us tell the truth about Dee’s incredible story, and raise awareness about the true medical potential of THC, by sharing this article. Dee’s amazing story can be read in full in her tell-all book: “My Way: Following the cancer brick road, from diagnosis to all clear naturally in 5 months…

The success of her book led Dee to start My Way CBD to specialize in natural CBD Healing solutions that add value to the world of natural healing by revolutionizing posture towards hemp products and the wellness cannabinoids bring human lives. Dee is a columnist for two medical marijuana publications and writes with the goal of one better understanding of our health, our world and our place in it. A mission that has occupied them in many different roles: writer, motivator, supporter, inspirer, advocate and awareness builder.

Dee Mani refused the toxic conventional medicine of chemotherapy and radiation and instead opted to heal her body naturally, using a combination of nutrition, supplements, essential oils, cannabis oil and a positive mental attitude. Based on the best-selling cancer book from Amazon with the title “My Way”, in which the Journey of Curing an Aggressive Cancer with Fully Extracted Cannabis Oil, Author Dee Mani-Mitchell decided to open a branch of CBD oils and wellness products with a Difference.

So Dee decided to include some very powerful essential Oils with their range of broad-spectrum CBD to be more affordable for people who want it.
Take both CBD and high-quality essential oils.

Career
Dee trained in pharmaceuticals for 5 years after college, she left the pharmaceutical industry after she understood the corruption ongoing. In 2017, she developed Triple Negative Breast Cancer Grade 3, her oncologist recommended a year’s worth of chemotherapy, detailing that she had about one year left to live.

But she refused Conventional Medicine (Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy) due to the death
of her sister which had taken place several years before. Dee started searching for natural
ways to heal and found that many other people were healing with cannabis oil.

So, she decided on this course of action.
She took the oil every night, treating it like a sleeping pill as the THC makes you sleepy, and while you sleep, you heal. Dee managed to heal within a short five months, using a range of supplements, diet changes, and the illegal full extract of cannabis oil. She decided to share her experience to help to inspire other cancer patients and their families, her book shared her healing journey. The book’s success led her to create a private cancer support group to help other patients and their families. She also co-authored 2 other Amazon best-selling books Perfect Health and Life After Birth Trauma.

She went on to launch her range of CBD oils – called My Way CBD.
The reason was to help people access good quality affordable oils, unlike many others on the market. “My job now is to educate people, teaching them how they can be healthy and prevent any disease, not just cancer,” she told The Portugal News.[1] My Way CBD stock infusions of Frankincense, Myrrh, Ashwagandha, Ginger, and Oregano oil. I personally will never advocate chemotherapy, however I totally understand why people feel they “need” it, this conclusion is usually from peer pressure from the oncologist (and family members) and not from due diligent research!
A question I get asked regularly is can cannabis oil be taken with chemotherapy?
Cannabis in the form of full extract oil (NOT CBD) helps manage the many side effects of chemotherapy, the main reason for these side effects is because chemo has no sense of direction! The chemo is left to run rampant throughout your body like a bull in a china shop…
But research shows that cannabis helps this pharma drug get to where it needs to go, almost like a road map or GPS. In this way, the chemo drugs will “often” only go into the cancerous cells and bypass your normal cells. However, there are times when the oil can not protect the healthy cells from this poison.
I also hear many times that research shows that chemo is more effective when used with cannabis and my answer to that is simply because (as above) the plant is protecting many vital organs, which therefore allows the patient to take more chemo!
Had cannabis not been taken alongside the patient usually has to
stop treatment because it’s so disastrous on the body.
Obviously, cannabis DOES have the power to heal cancer when used in conjunction
with other holistic therapies, without the need for chemo at all! This is because cannabis impairs tumour progression at various levels. The most prevalent effect is cancer cell death by apoptosis.

My Way: Following the Cancer Brick Road, From Diagnosis to All Clear Naturally
in 5 Months. By Dee Mani (The author is a Medical Warrior we can all learn from.)
Recommended by Steven Freier (Author)

I had recently (June 2022) published a book about how I had healed from a diagnosis
of CLL stage 4 cancer back around 2001 when I came across Dee Mani’s book, titled:
My Way: Following the Cancer Brick Road, from Diagnosis to All Clear Naturally in 5 Months. Being the curious, inveterate researcher that I am, I decided it was worth a read because I wanted to know if there were any parallels between her method of healing and mine.

The main parallels between the two books were that after consultation with our doctors, we both decided to ditch our doctor’s protocol to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments in favor of utilizing safer, non-toxic natural approaches such as upgrading
to a better diet, adding certain supplements, meditation, etc.

In my situation back in 1999, I did not know about or have access to cannabis so my approach relied more on the use of coral calcium, which is an inexpensive alkalizing agent, the removal of a bad root canal, and spiritual prayer-work, as I had studied to become a minister and a healing practitioner of Science of Mind (Religious Science founded by Ernest Holmes).

In Dee Mani’s book I became really absorbed as I followed along with her on her healing journey and found it interesting to observe her thought processes along the way. As I read, I discovered a sort of kinship with her even though we both had very different types of cancer; hers Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and mine, CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia).

So now, if I come across a woman who has breast cancer, I immediately recommend her book because it is tailored more specifically to their condition. Otherwise, I point people to my book: My Road to Healing: How I Ditched My Doctor’s Advice and Healed Myself of CLL 4th Stage Cancer. In an age when Big Pharma rules the roost we need more people like Dee who can think outside the box! So I salute Dee Mani for her courage to fight the System and bravely chart her own way to healing. In that sense I feel that we both are modern day Medical Warriors!

PS: Since publication of her book, Dee became inundated by messages from people all over the world asking for healing advice; her book does detail how she healed naturally using a combination of cannabis oil, supplements, essential oils, and diet.
She states, “However, since I wrote the (My Way) book, I’ve discovered more supplements than what I originally mentioned, which is why I decided to put this short E-book together, listing the main cancer-fighting supplements to refer to easily.
These supplements can either be used to prevent cancer from developing in the first place or be a part of your protocol if healing from already developed cancer. They all aim to boost the immune system”.
The ebook title: Cancer Fighting Supplements: A short guide on powerful immune boosters and cancer fighters. Connect With Dee through her Facebook Page about
the eBook and any Question You may have.

NOTE: In Ohio they are trying to pass legislation to Regulate Delta 8 THc cancer
My Hope is that don’t go too far….and give Cannabis Oil a Bad Response Rate.

January is my Birthday Month!! I turn 55 on the 5th…
My motto is 55 and alive to thrive! isn’t that some sort of super Golden Birthday or something ?! I LOVE Birthdays!! Many people dread getting older and lament the passing of the years. I admit, I’ve had my moments of wishing I had fewer wrinkles around my eyes and I liked staying up later but all in all, I’m so grateful for every single year. I think when one has had a diagnosis of cancer, or any life changing event, birthdays take on an entirely new meaning.

Each year I am here, I find so much more to be thankful for.
Aging is a privilege denied to many and this is something I’m intimately aware of. So, I’m going to celebrate the entire month of me turning 55… if you want to spoil me a bit for my birthday, my Linktree is in my bio, I have my Amazon wish list and Venmo /PayPal links there too. I love a good surprise!! I’m going to start my month of celebrating by getting my nails done and getting a treat at my favorite bakery… It’s gonna be a great month!!!  #birthdaygirl #golden birthday #birthday blessings #survivor #thriver

November 21, 2023
It was 18 years ago that I got the news that changed my life forever. It’s the very clear
line of the “Before and After” I had been dealing with symptoms for a few months but November 21, 2005 at 1:30 in the afternoon was when we were told I had cancer. Not just any cancer, but malignant pleural mesothelioma. The rest of the appointment is a blur… all I remember thinking was how I would survive this to raise my baby who was only 3 months old at the time.

I remember him telling us that I only had 15 months to live if I didn’t seek treatment.
I remember he laid out options, and Boston being the place I needed to go if I wanted the best chance at beating this cancer. I remember my husband looking at me with tears and fear in his eyes and telling the doctor to get us to Boston.

I will never forget the feelings of the day though, I still carry it with me all these years later. The fear of what the future held, the possibility of my life ending , the quiet determination when I decided I would fight this cancer with my entire being. I was determined to be around to not only raise my child, but be an active and present part in life. …

Today, 18 years later, I’m going in for my yearly CT scan and I woke to the news
that a dear fellow warrior and my UK Counterpart, Mavis Nye has passed away.

She was such an inspirational woman!
This cancer has robbed us of too many people. It’s aggressive and ugly and difficult to treat, but the path I chose saved my life. And I will carry on, making people aware of this horrid cancer and offering help to those who find themselves where I was 18 years ago. Like Dr Sugarbaker always said “When Hope is in the equation, the odds don’t matter.” Onward.

February 2, 2024
It will have been 18 years ago when I woke up early. Let’s be honest, I didn’t really sleep that night. Anxiety and fear were coursing through me. I closed my eyes and just silently prayed. As I waited for my transport down to the preop area I did everything I could to calm my nerves. I looked at pictures of my little baby, who was with my mom and dad some 2000 miles away. I just closed my eyes and waited.

As I sat in the pre-op area, waiting for Cams to show up, I nervously joked with the nurses and anesthetists. Anesthesiologists love to joke about doping people up, at least in my experience. After a few minutes, I looked up and saw Cams rushing over to me. His cab had been late in picking him up but he was there. He had his backpack full of stuff to keep him occupied while I endured the 8-hour surgery.

Before we knew it, I was being wheeled off to the OR. Things get pretty foggy from there.
I remember getting into the surgical suite and stating how cold it was in there, then being moved from the gurney to the table, the mask going over my face and blackness. The next memory I have was them pulling my intubation tube out while waking up. I’m glad I don’t really remember the feeling, more just the movement.

I was wheeled down to recovery to wait for a room in the ICU. I was in that room
watching people come and go as I drifted in and out of sleep, waking to ask for water.
I just remember being SO thirsty. I waited in the post-op area until almost midnight, and Cams waited with me the whole time, making phone calls and updating people throughout the day.

I Survived Mesothelioma

When I finally got to the ICU, I was hooked up to more machinery and gadgets than
I could count. I had a PICC line, a central line, a catheter, two chest tubes, and an ng tube for feeding. It was a lot, but I was ALIVE!!! I was down one lung, but the cancer was gone.  Dr. David Sugarbaker, “Mr. Mesothelioma”: Treatment Pioneer (asbestos.com) was happy with the surgery and I was on my way to also recovering from the day we now call Lungleavin Day.

Although most of my memories are a blur, Cams can tell how he was taken under the
wing of another meso patient’s family and how a favorite nurse made him a bed in the
family waiting room and fed him so he could stay with me.

I never realized I could hold so many complex emotions at once.

Survivorship is a mixed bag… Overwhelming gratitude.
Deep sorrow and even guilt… They all live together when I reflect on my 18 years of surviving this cancer. I mourn for the life I had pre cancer, yet I celebrate all I’ve accomplished as a result.

I often deal with survivors’ guilt when friends who I’ve gotten to know as a result of this disease, die and I’m still here. It strengthens my resolve to bring awareness to this deadly cancer and speak for those who can’t. It’s my life’s work now, and being able to share on a platform like this at the NCI is such an incredible opportunity. #survivor #meso warrior #mesosurvivor #rare cancer #thriver

image.png
Survivorship isn’t all beauty and bliss. It’s full of anxiety, worrying about the future and wondering if or when that beast will rear its ugly head again. Life is never truly normal again, but rather a new normal where doctor appointments , scans and medication are all part of it. It’s getting a suspicious symptom and wondering if the cancer is back. It’s living in the moment because you don’t know what the future holds.

People expect you to be all happy and act like nothing ever happened when in reality, you’re left trying to reassemble a life that was broken like a Lego sculpture swept off a shelf, most of the pieces are there and the directions are missing . You do your best to piece it back together, but it’s never quite the same. Survivorship is a sh*tshow ..

Although I’m beyond grateful and happy to be here all these years later, I know that it can and should be so much better.. So I’m doing what I can to make sure that this life is grand, despite the mess. My Lego sculpture might not look like it did before but let me tell you, this one is shaping up to be even more spectacular. The most painful part of surviving cancer is losing the friends you’ve made with other cancer patients.

I was looking through my photos the other night and was reminded of the literal dozens
of friends I’ve lost over the years. So many amazing people from all walks of life and all ages. Cancer doesn’t care if you’re young or old. It doesn’t discriminate, it seeks to destroy. But what it can’t destroy is the wonderful memories and times shared with each person.

Whether they lived close, across the country, or on the other side of the globe, I’ve loved them all. So as the news of yet another friend passing, and one entering hospice as her time on this earth comes to end, I just remember the love, the smiles and the friendship,
in spite of how we met.. It’s the silver lining of cancer: the people you meet along the way.   #survivor #fcancer #heartbreak  #silverlining

As a Mindset Coach, Author, & Cancer Thriver, my mission is to find freedom with everything life brings…especially those curveballs.

Based in Boulder, Colorado, I work with clients all over the globe through coachingtrainings, and my book baby: My Guru Cancer by Bethany Webb.
At the heart of mindset coaching is a form of self-inquiry called The Work of Byron Katie
a simple yet powerful process of identifying and questioning thoughts that create stress and suffering. It’s a way to clear the mind and love reality, just as it is. Through inquiry and movement, I love exploring the relationship between the mind & body ~ how our mental BS (belief systems) affect our emotions, physical sensations, and overall health
& wellbeing.

In 2015, life gave me a sweet surprise when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34 and then again as stage IV in 2021. My background has provided the perfect training and inner support system to meet cancer with an open mind, peace, and humor.

Dropping the battle and welcoming cancer as a wise teacher, I continue to learn the beauty of presence, slowing down, deeply listening, asking for support, letting go, and truly living the f*ck out of life! Becoming “free” from cancer has taken on a whole new meaning ~ it’s a state of mind.

“Are you sitting down?” -Dr. I, Spine Specialist
(May 27, 2021)
Weird. I only had my scan 2 hours ago, why is he calling? Oh shit…
“Yes, I’m sitting down.”
“I just got off the phone with the radiologist.
I’m so sorry but the MRI showed multiple masses in your lumbar spine.”
“Is it cancer?” I ask immediately.
“It appears so. I know this was a big concern of yours.”
(YES it was! WHY wasn’t it anyone else’s concern???)
“I recommend you meet with your oncologist as soon as possible to discuss options.”
Holy. Crap. If cancer is in my spine…that puts me in stage IV.
There is no cure. Terminal. Fucking. Cancer.
A flood of every single emotion hits me all at once.

Shock and disbelief…are you f-ing kidding me?
Rage…FU to the doctors who didn’t take my complaints seriously 8 months ago.
FU to the insurance company who denied my request for an MRI two months ago.
FU to you to the universe – how could you let this happen?
Despair and sadness…Wait, does this mean I only have a few years to live?
I don’t get to see my nieces and godson grow up…I don’t get to grow old with my partner…Is this beautiful life I’ve created in Colorado already over?
Images of my body breaking down, wheelchairs, hospice, my family grieving…fill my mind.
I don’t deserve this. I did everything the doctors recommended. There was an 85% cure rate! Yet I found a way to enjoy cancer. I wrote a book. I’ve dedicated my life to help others alleviate the suffering around pain and illness. I take care of myself; I love my life. It’s not fair.

Well, I’ve got some tough health news to share. It appears My Guru Cancer is back as Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. It has spread to my bones, liver, and some lymph nodes in my stomach. As heartbreaking as this news has been for me and my loved ones, we remain positive and hopeful. Although there is currently no known cure for MBC, my amazing doctors are saying it is “very treatable” and “for many, many years.” So…my diagnosis? LIVE THE F*CK OUT OF LIFE! This video shares a full update on how I found out, how I’m doing, my integrative treatment plan, mindset, and how you can best support me.
GRIEF.

#MyGuruCancer Lesson: Welcome all of your emotions in…
they are here to help you process, feel, and move through the pain.
I’ve had to live in a state of F this for a bit. I let myself cry, scream, vented my emotions out on paper, stabbed a few potatoes…I let others hold me through the tears. When I drop my resistance to whatever is arising, it’s quite intimate.
It may sound strange, but I don’t want to miss a moment of this grief. It can’t be bypassed. I choose to lovely hold it. However, and whenever it shows up. This is life too. And I want to truly live it. To be continued…😘

A few days after I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer,
I saw this beautiful soul perform on America’s Got Talent.
Through every lyric, I watched the tears fall from my eyes.
Tim came home and immediately; I pulled him onto the couch to watch it.
We held each other and cried some more.

Whoa.
She was in the 2% chance of being alive and damn – this girl was LIVING!
And then her words:
“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
Heck YES.

Knowing that I now, too, have entered the land of incurable cancer…this beautiful soul sang right to my heart, giving me hope that anything is possible…to live fully now…and that no matter what life tosses our way, IT’S OKAY 🎶

When the mind is open, a sweet state of inner peace is available to us at any moment. Yet sometimes our cray cray thoughts can get in the way of noticing this reality. Unravel what blocks you from rocking your natural state of joy…let’s truly live the f*ck out of life!

I choose LIFE! Embracing ALL of it – the joy, adventure, heartbreak, grief.
The highs and lows, the sticky mess in between. I’m here for it baby.

Key word = HERE.
When I stay HERE, in REALITY, rather than living THERE, in a scary future,
it’s so much easier to love the life I have – yes, even my life with stage 4 cancer.
But if I’m to fully embrace life, it means I need to fully embrace death too – death
is a natural, inevitable part of life. “Let’s face it, bodies don’t make it.” -Byron Katie
Facing my fearful beliefs about death – “an early death” “a painful death”, worries of “missing out” and how it will impact my loved ones. Questioning these painful beliefs
has led to soooo much more joy, trust, and presence in my life.
