The word for ninety-two or 92 represents a cardinal number that conveys
“how many”. Novantadue is the correct form of the Italian word which means ninety-two. Cardinal numbers are also known as “counting numbers,” because they show quantity. English ordinal numbers define a position, such as “first”, “second” or “third”. Cardinal and ordinal numbers are used in Italy and the word for Ninety-second in Italian is Novantiduesimo.

92 in Italian – Roman Numerals
Roman numerals are script letters that were developed in Italy to represent numbers. The Roman numeral of 92 is in the same format used by the ancient Romans and part of the heritage of Italy. The Roman numeral for this number is as follows: XCII When a lower value number symbol appears after a higher value number, it is added, if a lower value symbol is before a higher value number, it is subtracted.

Only seven letters were required in this ancient numbering system.
I, V, X, L, C, D and M. The ordinal numbers used in Italy are variable in gender (masculine and feminine) and number (singular and plural).

IN FOURTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETY-TWO, COLUMBUS SAILED THE OCEAN BLUE. The title of this post is recognized by many as the opening line of a little poem that helped youth in schools to learn the date on which Christopher Columbus discovered America. That would have been over 60 years ago for me as we studied about Columbus discovering America.

However, for a long time now, that date and even the person who actually discovered America, has been in dispute. Many say now that Leif Ericson, an early Viking, discovered America around 1000 A.D., nearly 500 years before Columbus was even born.

Frankly, I don’t know. But for ages America celebrated Columbus as the one who made the discovery. But it wasn’t until 1968 that Columbus Day became a national paid holiday in America. If nothing else, that day has been celebrated to honor the heritage of Italian-Americans.

Just recently, American history has been in the process of being re-written.
The great city of Columbus, Ohio has seen the statue of Columbus removed. Many say Columbus is not worthy to be celebrated because he killed and
looted the people in the lands that he did discover in the name of Spain.

I am not wanting to argue about what Columbus did or did not do. But many still celebrate Columbus as a hero for having made the effort and undertaken the very dangerous risk to cross the Atlantic Ocean, not knowing for
sure where he was going.

People need heroes.
Columbus may not have been a perfect man, but he took risks to make Spain greater and richer. One can not fault him for that. It’s often said by people who succeed at anything, that they recognize that they have stood on the shoulders of great people who went before them.
We build upon other people’s success as we continue to grow and develop what others have built on. Where would we be if each new generation had to reinvent the wheel all over again? Fortunately, we don’t do that. We just continue to improve what has come before us.

That’s a true statement, whether we talk about the evolution of the light bulb, the telephone, or any other invention. We also learn by the mistakes of others who have gone before us. Do we want to fail as they did? Then don’t do the same thing they did. One who does not learn history is doomed to repeat it. There are many versions and authors of that thought.

And it’s certainly true.

As America was getting ready for the general election on Nov. 3, 2020,
I remind myself where this great country came from and how we evolved to such greatness. Our great founders, men of God and full of wisdom, wrote the great Declaration of Independence and then our Constitution. Few countries have existed for so long under a Constitutional Republic. We seem to be unique. Certainly blessed. But actually, there have been other great countries before us dating back to biblical times.

All those great countries became democracies and only lasted about 250 years.
That’s approximately the age of America. All those great countries failed and began to be in decline. Each great country failed for the very same reasons.
Why? They got away from God, quit believing in family, put the pleasures of the world first in their lives, began to become welfare states, quit believing in the value of individual hard work, became politically corrupt and greedy,
and a host of other common denominators.

The End of the world if something happens to JerusalemHoly LAND!!
If you noticed, America is doing the very same things as those great countries of the past. And why should we expect any other outcome?

That’s why I mentioned the 2020 election.
We have a choice, no – a duty, to pray about how to vote in this election.
It’s not about a single person, it’s about a way of life bigger than any one man.

I just read a book last week outlining why those great nations of the past failed. It’s a must-read. The name of the book is AMERICA’S EXPIRATION DATE, written by Cal Thomas – Bing video It’s only about 190 pages long, and that includes all the back matter. I read it in two sittings. Read it. It’s worth your time and maybe you can lend the book to a friend or family member who is straddling the fence on this most important election since our founding.
Yes, heroes are worth celebrating. God gave the great framers of our country the courage to risk their lives for this great new experiment called America.
Are we any better than them to do our part to keep America free? It’s not just for us alive today, but for our posterity. Do your part.

God Bless You,
Spencer Plumley.

Living to the ripe old age of 90 may depend on your body size – both height and weight – as well as your level of physical activity, and seems to influence also a woman’s lifespan more than it does a man’s, according to a new study published Monday in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, a BMJ journal.
The study found women who lived to 90 were, on average, taller and had put on less weight since the age of 20 as compared to women who were shorter
and heavier. No such association was seen for men. However, men saw more benefit from physical activity than women.

While the study is observational and cannot establish cause, the findings “provide interesting hints that men’s and women’s health might respond differently to BMI, height and exercise,” said epidemiologist David Carslake,
a senior research associate at the University of Bristol in the UK, who was not involved in the study. BMI, which stands for body mass index, is a measurement of body fat based on a calculation of height and weight.

150 minutes of exercise per week proves longevity – Bing video

A large, longitudinal study
In 1986 researchers asked over 7,000 Dutch men and women between age 55 and 69 about their height, current weight, and weight at age 20. Both genders also told researchers about their current physical activity, which included dog walking, gardening, home improvements, walking or biking to work and sports. The men and women were then sorted into daily activity quotas: less than 30 minutes, 30 to 60 minutes, and 90 minutes or more.
The groups were monitored until they died or reached the age of 90; of the 7807 participants, 433 men and 994 women lived to that age. Issues that could affect longevity, such current or past smoking and level of alcohol use, were also taken into account. Men and women in the study fared very differently when it came to the impact of body size and exercise.

study suggests. Women who weighed less at age 20 and put on less weight as they aged were more likely to live longer than heavier women. Height played a major factor: the study found women who were taller than 5 feet 9 inches were 31% more likely to live into their 90s than women who were less than 5 feet 3 inches.

Neither height or weight seemed to factor into whether the men reached their 90s, but activity level did. Men who spent 90 minutes a day or more being active were 39% more likely to live to 90 than men who were physically active for less than 30 minutes. In addition, for each 30 minutes a day the men were active, they were 5% more likely to reach that age.
However, women who were physically active for more than 60 minutes a day were only 21% more likely to live to 90 than those who did 30 minutes or less. And unlike men, there was no bonus for increasing activity. In fact, the study found that the optimal level of activity for women was 60 minutes a day.

A slowing of life expectancy!!!
Average life expectancy has been increasing for most of the world, but recent studies show a slowing of that trend in some developed nations. In the US for example, life expectancy has been declining over the last few years.
Drug overdoses and suicides are to blame for the most recent decline, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but the major causes of death remain the same. Heart disease, cancer, and stroke, three of the top killers of Americans are all affected by weight gain and a lack of exercise.
