PLEASE SUMMARIZE YOUR HEALING STORY IN 100 WORDS OR LESS
After many false positives and 3 surgical biopsies, in September 2016 MRI biopsy confirmed DCIS and multi-centric invasive breast cancer, (not one lump but cancer in every quadrant following the ductal line). Three titanium clips were inserted to mark
spots where the tissue was taken.

In January 2017, I went to Arcadia Clinic in Germany for treatment and was given
Radical Remission to read. I became conscious of all 10 Healing Factors-emotional, spiritual, mental, physical. A pre-surgery mammogram suggested disease regression.
I had done an MRA for preparation for DIEP Flap reconstruction (like an MRI),
but I canceled the scheduled mastectomy and continued my protocol.

10 Healing Factors of Radical Remission

DEFINE
The “10 Healing Factors of Radical Remission” is a list of behavioral and lifestyle changes and actions that all radical remission survivors have used. But before we delve into the list, it’s important to understand what Radical Remission is.
Radical Remission is the term used by Dr. Kelly Turner to describe any cancer remission that is statistically unexpected.

Radical Remission occurs whenever:
Someone’s cancer goes into remission without using any conventional medical treatment.
A cancer patient uses conventional medicine but the cancer does not go into remission, so he or she switches to alternative ways of healing which do lead to remission.
A cancer patient uses both conventional medicine and alternative methods of healing simultaneously to outlive a statistically dire prognosis.

Dr. Turner began to research Radical Remission as part of her Ph.D. from
the University of California at Berkeley. She noticed that two groups of people were typically missing from the more than 1,000 cases of Radical Remission already published in medical journals: the survivors themselves and alternative healers.
Dr. Turner traveled to ten different countries, interviewed 20 Radical Remission survivors and 50 alternative healers, and analyzed more than 1,500 cases of Radical Remission. The findings of her research are summarized in the book Radical Remission, a New York Times Bestseller now translated into more than 20 languages. You can read about her ongoing research, including the tenth healing factor and new survivor stories, in Radical Hope, which was released in 2020.

DISCOVER
The 10 healing factors that Dr. Turner found all radical remission survivors to have used are: Exercise, Spiritual Connection, Empowering Yourself, Increasing Positive Emotions; Following Your Intuition, Releasing Suppressed Emotions, Changing Your Diet, Herbs & Supplements, Having Strong Reasons for Living, Increasing Social Support.
The best thing about the 10 Healing Factors is that they can be used safely in coordination with any treatment. Using the 10 Healing Factors  will strengthen your immune system and help you to reduce stress and anxiety.

DO
Anyone can use these strategies and changes to foster healing and prevent disease.
You do not need a cancer diagnosis to use these factors and benefit from them.
(Note: It is recommended you consult with a naturopath, clinical herbalist or other certified practitioner before adding herbs or supplements to your current treatment protocol.)

Here are some ways to incorporate the list into your routine:
Exercise – Safely increase daily exercise and movement.
Spiritual Connection – Develop a daily spiritual practice.
Empowering Yourself – Take charge of your healing.
Increasing Positive Emotions – Increase positive emotions in your day-to-day life.
Following Your Intuition – Access and strengthen your intuition.
Releasing Suppressed Emotions – you are holding in your body.
Changing Your Diet – Strengthen your immune system by changing your diet.
Herbs and Supplements – Choose supplements that are right for you.
Having Strong Reasons for Living – Identify your strongest reasons for living.
Increasing Social Support – Accept love and support from others.

In December 2018, just over a year after diagnosis, all cancer markers were in the normal range and thermography indicated remission. The Biocept Liquid Biopsy could not be performed because no cancer could be detected. In July 2019 cancer markers increased.

February 2020 PETscan showed recurrence in the breast, though less than the original diagnosis with no cancer where one titanium clip indicated previous malignancy.
It confirmed a liver lesion that has since reduced by 60% in volume measured by ultrasounds. It was noted in MRA pathology report for Plastic Surgeon (for DIEP Flap) in
March 2017 that there was a liver lesion that appears to be the same one I currently have.

The MRA was ordered by the Plastic Surgeon who was looking for something else, so this never became a conversation. If this in fact is the same liver lesion, a mastectomy would not have been recommended as it had already metastasized. This would be more typical of multi-centric cancer that is not contained in a lump. This would mean I am in my fifth year of being Stage 4. I am symptom-free and without having had surgery, chemo, or radiation I have less cancer than when I was diagnosed five years ago.

Kathryn Doherty from Greenwich, Connecticut, USA came to Arcadia-Praxisklinik
in 2016 on the recommendation of her cancer consultant for breast cancer treatments.
Just recently, she was a guest at Arcadia again. She is a regular visitor to Bad Emstal –
as a patient, but also in her work as a dedicated “Arcadia Ambassador” for integrative
cancer treatments in the USA.

Kathryn’s experience with cancer spans over 40 years―as an advocate and caregiver for her mother, father, husband, and most recently as a patient. Her personal experience and the global impact of this disease fuel her commitment to support and engage with those affected by cancer.

Kathryn Doherty’s personal experiences and the impact of cancer motivated her to get involved. She connects with those affected by cancer and supports them on their journey. To that end, she even trained with Dr. Kelly Turner and is a certified Radical Remission™ instructor, coach and speaker.

Can eating too much spinach be harmful to your body.
It seems anything we like to eat is bad for us. I rarely have spinach. and then there is this….I cringe as I devoured spinach even on the day I was diagnosed Study showing oxalates induce breast cancer:  https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26493452/

We found that all tested breast tumor tissues contain a higher concentration of oxalates than their counterpart non-pathological breast tissue. Moreover, it was established that oxalate induces proliferation of breast cells and stimulates the expression of a pro-tumorigenic gene c-fos.

We found that the chronic exposure of breast epithelial cells to oxalate promotes the transformation of breast cells from normal to tumor cells, inducing the expression of a proto-oncogene as c-fos and proliferation in breast cancer cells.
Furthermore, oxalate has a carcinogenic effect when injected into the
mammary fat pad in mice.  https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26493452/

Not everyone has to avoid it, but I do recommend you avoid kale, even organic.
known to draw toxic substances from the earth. I eat sprouts, arugula, romaine…
I used to eat a lot more, but it got complicated. I eat a lot of crucifers’ other veggies.

How Oxalates Affect Thyroid Health – Dr. Izabella Wentz,
I had no clue that I should avoid oxalates until I had a calcium oxalate kidney stone in 2017. When I started learning about oxalates, I was amazed how high my diet was in them. Not just spinach but almonds, sweet potatoes, beets, chocolate.
I still struggle with not eating chocolate but try to limit it.
From what I’ve read not everyone needs to follow a low oxalate diet but it’s good to
know about. Those with thyroid issues, which I do, found this article informative too:

ALso recommended here’s a link to Sally Norton’s take on oxalates:
 https://sallyknorton.com/oxalate-science/oxalate-basics/
OH! I always have options and alternatives to select from. 😉😉😉😘

However, thank you for the heads-up.

Oxalates are definitely troublemakers and there is plenty of research linking them to breast cancer. Oxalates induce an expression of a pro-tumorigenic gene c-fos causing proliferation. You can read more about it here. For this reason green smoothies are the worst. You are taking in about 1,000 mg of oxalates in a smoothie. Spinach, beets, and star fruit are all very high oxalate foods. The digestive system based on research can handle up to 200 mg on average and that’s if you don’t have a compromised gut. https://bmccancer.biomedcentral.com/…/s12885-015-1747-2….

Here is a good read..Oxalates in Spinach. Is that a bad thing? (donnieyance.com)
Great article covering both sides with one exception. Spinach does not contain folic acid (synthetic vitamin), but actually it contains natural folate,  no one should take folic acid, only folate. Which is the main reason for those with MTHFR (SNP/ gene mutation very common but most are not aware of). I do not know how one figures out that the symptoms described mean you have an allergic reaction or aversion to oxalates. Is there a test to determine whether oxalates are the cause of hives for example?

Holly Herpich Bencaz Maybe some of the recommendations in the Yance article will help. I have been working on gut health, maybe I’ll try a bite of spinach, see what happens. The mind is so powerful, so I have to keep that in mind.

Spinach is my go to “green”  for salads, cooked with eggs, on sandwiches, etc.
If my body doesn’t seem to be protesting, should I leave well enough alone?
I know – no easy answer, but, just, in general.

Holly Herpich Bencaz but the best thing to do for sensitivity is to pay attention to symptoms. I have MTHFR so I have found it best to avoid spinach, but this article
makes so much sense. That said, I don’t have any trouble with other ox’s.

For me, it was intense pain and cramping in my hands. I hope that helps you.
Very interesting about pain in your hands. I need a better understanding of oxalates and spinach. I do seem to actually crave spinach. I do have difficulty with my hands sometimes but usually after strenuous activities carrying heavy objects. I appreciate your thoughts and advice, especially sharing topics that are not widely discussed or known about.
