But just a chosen few have been played so much, they’ve gone platinum 10 times over.
These songs can earn a diamond certification, the highest honor bestowed
by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Since the official diamond award was unveiled in 1999, it has been awarded sparingly – if a
song has moved at least 10 million equivalent units by combining sales and streaming numbers, and if an artist or label requests certification.

Only 56 songs in history have been certified diamond by the RIAA
