Hold Me keto/LCHF (Low Carb/High ‘Good’ Fat Accountable,

The universe will ask you who you are, and if you don’t know, it will tell you..
I have a friend doing keto who is having major problems with water retention. She is blowing up and all of her joints and fingers and everything are swelling up on her. Is that something keto could cause for somebody? Or is probably related to her other health problems?

Dr. Eric Berg – ‘Practical Keto’ – YouTube

She is at 360 pounds right now. She is laying off salt and sodium and drinking 2+ gallons of water a day. Is that too much? They say so many ounces per pound you weigh, but I just want to find out any info I can, she is going to the doctor about it but I’m hoping it’s not. She’s drinking too much water and laying off the salt won’t help either. Make sure she’s getting enough protein and she will need more fat to transition too. Make sure salt is on every single meal! Especially in transition week or two. Also check.. before being dehydrated your body holds water first. It’s not always the obvious answer. Is she eating real food or keto crap?

I don’t have stomach issues anymore!! Woohoo! I also no longer get eczema and I threw away my Rx cream! A calorie is a calorie for me… so I’ll gain or lose according to the calories unless I’m fasting… even then.

Going on year 6 ketogenic/low carb.

I’ll never go back to the SAD way of eating.

At 50 I now have the body I had when I was 18-20. The worst thing about it is having to buy new clothes that fit. My profile pic tells the tale. 5 years between the two. Not suffering with nasty problems from Hidradenitis Suppurativa any more and can live my life pain and inconvenience free.  Less depression, more energy, more productivity, better mental clarity and focus, fewer migraines
( 1 in the past year), control over food, and yes, weight loss.

I think it’s too much, you can die from water intoxication!

Kidneys have major responsibility in water balance. If it were me… would revert to the prior diet regimen and check kidney issues. Laying off salt is likely bad, since keto stresses electrolyte balance. Might need more salt. She needs to lay off the water. That’s way too much. Drink ONLY when thirsty. 10 MASSIVE MYTHS AND MISTAKES THAT DESTROY FASTING AND KETO DIETS! – by Robert Cywes – YouTube

One thing I just thought of. When you are low carb/keto you will become fat adapted. One of the big benefits of this is that Fasting is so much easier. I just Fasted on Monday for 42 total hours and it was no problem. Doing SAD and Fasting is very hard.

Also check.. before being dehydrated your body holds water first. It’s not always the obvious answer. Is she eating real food or keto crap?

Have you heard of the #DAdamo #EatRight4YourBloodType diet? Many REALLY thrive on #keto but a small % don’t. If she knows her blood type, modify keto to fit her type OR just try a week of eating ONLY the beneficial foods for blood type. If she is an O Blood Type, the salt should be fine but try avoiding bacon & cheese (all other fats are great) Inflammation: Is the Gut the Driving Force of Systemic Inflammation? – YouTube

Yes, drink water but only when thirsty Try modifying keto to eat only O Beneficial foods If she doesn’t see an improvement in a couple of days check kidneys/liver.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about carb-cycling. What exactly is that? I mean I get the idea but what is the point?

I’m zero carb: Total freedom from joint pain and sugar addiction. I have now lost 50 pounds. Still need to lose 50 more, but I don’t need to stress over it, it will happen. A #lowcarb diet helped me lose 95lbs. I’ve got some Covid-19 weight to lose, sure, but who doesn’t?

Losing the weight helped me to eliminate chronic back pain, plantar fasciitis, and sleep apnea. Not to mention the general improvement to my mood, attitude, etcetera.

So slim now! So glad the weight-loss has helped your ailments disappear.

The person you want to become has daily habits and a winning routine.

What is it?
Why are you not doing it?

I started a couple years ago, drinking every weekend about 25 pints of lager and eating so bad. Weighed 20st, had a light bulb moment and paired keto and walked and never looked back. Food is so important to me now and only eat whole foods, lost 6 stone and kept off.

I found this great saying. The gist of it is that our only limitations are set by the conclusions that we have drawn about ourselves, others and life in general. Nobody really knows until they know.
