#Tatum Tough: Doctor has ‘no explanation’ for 9-year-old’s dead cancer cells

CANYON, Texas (KVII) – The Schulte family says they have returned from Houston with “huge smiles, grateful hearts and a story that will rock your world.”
Nine-year-old Tatum Schulte has been through a lot for a child her age. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that happens in children, in 2015, Tatum has had to make sacrifices many children could not dream of making. These sacrifices include surgery to remove most of one of her legs.
Last year, people who had been following Tatum’s journey were overjoyed to hear that she had beaten cancer. She was declared cancer-free in September. But that excitement was short-lived when the family learned earlier this year that the cancer had returned.
On Wednesday, the Schulte family reported that Tatum’s head oncologist told them that the pathology report stated the tumor had 80 percent necrosis, or dead cancer cells.
The Schultes said the tumor was found in December and Tatum completed two rounds of chemotherapy in January. In February, it was found that the tumor had doubled in size. Now, in April, they say the oncologist was stunned to find the tumor had 80 % necrosis.
“He was stunned, speechless… you name it. He kept saying he had no explanation,” said the Schulte family.
The family says after they were told the chemotherapy was not working, they found some homeopathic doctors in Amarillo who advised them on diet changes and other supplements that they have implemented.
The Schultes say that Tatum had a dream.
In her dream Jesus told her she was going to go to Houston and she would not have cancer anymore and he told her she was going to be ok! Well… He didn’t say what trip to Houston, but we know He was talking about this one.
The Schulte family said they will continue with a lot of therapy for Tatum to hopefully regain feeling in her amputated leg and get ready for her to head back to school in a few weeks, which Tatum says she is excited for.
Well, we left Houston last night with huge smiles, grateful hearts, and a story that will rock your world! It was a day of MIRACLES provided by none other than our Lord and Savior!
Part 1…Our first appointment was with one of our surgeons, our oncology team, and a ton of others from physical therapist to child life specialist!
Tatum decided …. to use her walker and walk in like she has been doing for a few days now. We turned the corner and their mouths dropped! We all packed into a room and Dr. Marco came in just speechless…. (kind of nice to leave drs speechless, I picture God winking over their shoulders). He proceeded to tell us that there is no way she should be walking, since he cut through 3 nerves that should have left her without feeling in most of her leg!
She has feeling in all of her leg except her quad muscle area, and it seems she is gaining a little bit of that back! Then he goes on to tell us about the surgery and 3 specific times when absolute precision was so important that they would have lost Tatum with the most miniscule of complication …. he looked us straight in the eye and told us that this surgery had never been done before. More doctors continued to come in as the word spread about her walking so they all videoed and took pictures.
Now for Part2…
Our head oncologist told us that the pathology report stated the tumor had 80% necrosis (dead cancer cells) WHAT???? Let me remind you that in December we found the tumor, completed 2 rounds of chemo in January, and rescanned to find the tumor had doubled in size by Febuary….but…80% necrosis??? He was stunned, speechless… you name it. He kept saying he had no explanation….
When we were told that the chemo was not working, we found some fantastic ‘homeopathic’ doctors in Amarillo that advised us on diet changes and other ‘supplements’ that we’ve been implementing! http://www.knowcancer.com/holistic-practitioners/texas/amarillo/
We know God can use any means he chooses for healing!!! We are fully aware this all comes from Him and we will always give Him the glory through good and bad!
You see….back in January during a week long stay in the hospital for chemo, Tatum had a dream. In her dream Jesus told her she was going to go to Houston and she would not have cancer anymore and he told her she was going to be ok!
Well … He didn’t say what trip to Houston, but we know He was talking about this one!!!
For the first time ever, we went to Houston and left the Drs speechless, not vise versa!
What perfect timing… Holy week!
I am again reminded of His amazing grace, His miraculous healing ways, His comforting touch, and His perfect timing!
We will continue with a lot of therapy to hopefully regain feeling and get ready for Tatum to head back to school in a few weeks! She is so excited.
We thank you all for the constant thoughts and prayers. Prayers are answered on a daily basis and we are thankful that we don’t stand alone. May you all be blessed this Easter!! https://www.facebook.com/
