It can be said, everybody needs about forty different nutrients each day to stay healthy. What can’t be told, is that we all need different amounts of these nutrients as we all differ in our ability to absorb them; due to our genetic background, current health problems, et cetera. This needs to be assessed on an individual basis, taking into account one’s biochemistry.
To strengthen our immune system, we must first and foremost stop, or dramatically reduce, our over consumption of foods that over burden our immune system; while clearing the toxins which are already present. In these circumstances the foods we should be choosing should be very nutrient dense, minimizing both exogenous and endogenous toxins which encourages good absorption and toxin elimination from tissues.
Extra nutrients necessary to reverse deficiencies and facilitate toxin removal should be based upon individual idiosyncrasies and defined via a nutritionally qualified practitioner as self diagnosis can be difficult and ineffective. Some of the enemies of the immune system are smoke (tobacco incinerator and chimney etc.), radiation, pesticides, carcinogenic chemicals drugs (legal and/or illegal), food additives and incorrect food balance (to much sugar, salt or fat.)
Those three pillars of the processed food industry (sugar, salt or fat) can be self addictive and have you buying more. Of which we aren’t talking real food here: it’s synthetic, completely contrived, created and the many problems involved; is it can trick our bodies repeatedly providing our body with dramatic change (weight gain, endocrine disruption, diabetes and hypertension.)
Are you getting enough sleep? Multiple studies show sleep deprivation leads to food cravings (especially refined carbohydrates, processed food and late night binges.) This is due to the fact a lack of sleep negatively effects the production of a hormone called Leptin which is responsible for telling the body when it is full. Making the body want to consume more calories than actually is needed.
Basically you’re spending time filling up your tank with volume that’s incapable of helping your body heal/repair itself from the daily grind or overcome infections and increases inflammation. Another reason ‘why’ you might have cravings for sweet, salty or fats is because of common deficiencies (magnesium, selenium, chromium, iron, zinc or calcium.)
Another great priority is to keep your immune system flushed and free of toxins. Depending upon the person’s body weight, routine exercise expenditure and types of foods one eats. Generally drinking four pints of water should be consumed daily. While removing or restricting stimulant containing beverages, such as coffee, tea, colas, cordials, fruit drinks and spring water.
These are all diuretics and causes the body to lose more water than is being replaced, putting most organs, especially the adrenal system under stress. Furthermore, ingestion of caffeine from coffee, tea, colas, chocolate and some pharmaceutical preparation will, in sensitive people, produce digestive and nervous upsets made worse by consuming processed foods.
While almost everyone’s mineral absorptions are negatively affected by caffeine ingestion, with calcium and magnesium absorptions greatly affected, iron compromised and other necessary nutrients depleted. Also alcohol, although not a stimulant to the end degree, more than a tiny amount has a depressive effect throughout the nervous system; is a toxin with unnecessary calories.
To be optimally fit, healthy, with unlimited energy and a strong immune system…. it is necessary to follow certain nutritional criteria: Eat fresh ~ whole food, whenever possible eschew processed packaged foods…. those items that had things added to, refined, enriched or in some way interfered with especially hydrogenated or partly so. These will seriously upset the manner your body handles efficient fatty acids. While culminating impaired mineral replacement and usage.
Also it’s important to limit consuming genetically engineered and other hormone induced product (soy, gluten, corn, dairy and night shades if you have any form of arthritis.) That all said, what is left to be eaten, consume a diet high in essential fatty acids ~ absolutely vital to a strong immune system (fresh mackerel, herring, salmon, etc.) It’s not only, important to consume Omega 3’s (fish & linseed), but also, Omega 6’s (evening primrose, black currant & sesame seed oils.)
Also consume plenty and a variety of vegetables and fruits, while cutting down on sugar and refined carbohydrates, white and brown sugar, fake sugars, plus commercially prepared biscuits, cakes, jams, ice cream and soft drinks. Which can disturb your metabolism of essential fatty acids for your overall health. Most of all listen to your body, it is well equipped with an efficient immune system which is able to resist chronic disease and heal injury preventing inflammation if we feed it what it needs to do so?
