The Dangers of Mercury Amalgams came to light today while watching YourHealthTv with Dr. Richard Becker. His quest was Dr. Hal Huggins and the topic was mercury amalgams to fill cavities in teeth. It’s no secret since mercury has been utilized there has an increase in auto immune disease. As other health care professionals will tell you that mercury poisons can cause cancer, however, is that really true.
Dr. Hal Huggins whom created also the Huggins Diagnostic Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado believes. Even though he had his dental liscense revoked in 1996 for thinking out of the box. Supposely tricks the chronic ill patients into thinking the true cause of their illness was mercury poisoning. Dr. Hal was investigated by the FDA for his marketing of the Amalgameter, which is an advice which claimed to detect positively or negative charged dental fillings in teeth. Thank GOD… non – Amalgam Fillings!!!
The ADA’s position that dental amalgams are a safe and effective material to fill cavities. This stance which is also supported by the U.S. Public Health Service, the European Commission, the World Health Organization and by many studies. In late 2004… a group called the Sciences Research Office also reviewed seven years worth of insufficient studies and concluded. That there is insufficient evidence, “of a link between dental mercury amalgams and health issues except in rare instances of allergic reactions.”
Mercury is a naturally occuring element that is found in air, water and soil. Additionally mercury enters the air from mining ore, burning coal and trash. Also exposure to mercury occurs from breathing contaminated air, while ingesting contaminated water and food. With this all told…. can we get cancer from eating fish. We know high levels of mercury exposure can harm the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs and the immune system of people of all ages.
However there isn’t enough human data suggesting that it causes cancer. Although the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has determined that methylmercury is a possible human carcinogen. Methylmercury is made primarily by microscopic organisms in water and soil. Therefore Methylmercury builds up in the tissues of fish over time. So while the oldest and largest fish have higher levels of mercury.
Research shows most people that consume fish usually are healthier than those whom don’t eat fish. My only advice is…. don’t eat fish that have gray pigmentation in it’s tissue because some fish have higher concentrations of mercury than others that can harm developing nervous systems of a fetus or young child.
